You know what the CIA does to keep Americans safe? It gathers intelligence from different sources, human, electronic, satellite, etc.
Guess what the FBI does to fight crime? Wiretaps, undercover work, paid informants, surveillance, etc.
But what is the CPD allowed to do to keep an eye on those who would disrupt the ebb-and-flow of city life?

The ACLU is, predictably, up in arms, and are currently demanding City Council hearings. There's no reason to think that Rahm won't capitulate almost immediately seeing as how the ACLU pretty much runs the show around here nowadays. And Chicago will once again, be less safe, and cops in more danger not having the proper information at their disposal, meaning "fetal" policing becomes even more deeply entrenched.

Some day the fruits of the ACLU will come back and bite them in their royal asses. Unfortunately, then the ACLU will come crying to the police that they have been a victim of a crime, which the ACLU worked hard to prevent the cops from keeping a handle on offenders on the street or investigating thugs at any level, thereby making it easy for the thugs to commit the very crime(s) the cops are trying to prevent.
Gee only 1,300 thugs are responsible for the crime. If only crime fighting were so easy as to remove those 1,300 from gene pool. But alas the ACLU is too worried about the rights of the 1,300, while the bodies pile up, never carrying about how to stop the murders.

SCC...I really admire your ability to deal with all this shit...as well as write about it rationally on a daily basis. You and all the other stalwart men and women who still have the fortitude to wear the badge and do everything in your power to keep Chicago a safe place. Were it me, I'd be ready to cash it in by this point. I wonder how you can do it, man.
Hopefully, it's at least partially because you are still able to hear the voices of those of us who believe in you (and your fellows) and who are honestly thankful for what you do. We're out here, my friend. We may not be as vocal as some of your foes (a serious failing I think we (I) seriously need to work on), but never fail to believe that there are those of us who deeply appreciate your efforts, and haven't forgotten the vital role you play in maintaining and preserving what little remains of our civilization...

In our Disgust, Disappointment and Dislike for Rahm, we must not lose the key point of this whole new "Red Squad Spy Scandal". Today as in the past, nobody in their right mind would deny that some degree of infiltration is warranted. However what Rahm has done here is different, because EVERYTHING, no matter how slight that Rahm does has a Political and personal Profit component. For reasons which I hope City Council Hearings will ask; Rahm involved Civilians who were not Sworn to Uphold or Defend the Constitution of the U.S. or Illinois. And the questions of WHY cannot be ignored. Why was information of an on-going, active, Criminal Intelligence Investigation shared with someone like Mr. Sachs, whose only claim to fame prior to this was that he was a fundraiser, "Bundler" for Rahm? Does Rahm regularly afford access to active police investigations to his Elitist Buddies for their entertainment, or amusement? Remember, Police Officers who looked at his kid's report were disciplined. Did Ralphie Price know that Rahm's buddies were involved in the investigations as "Spectators" or "Observers"; to what end? Is Mr. Sachs to Rahm what Sidney Blumenthal is to Hillary? This morning the new body cameras are overshadowing the Spy Scandal in the news, but make no mistake about it, the Spying will have its day in the news. ACLU loves death and mayhem in the streets of Chicago.
FBI also profiles....which is not allowed on a local level.....because it discriminates.
End game for these communist bastards is to disarm America. To create as much crime in the streets so eventually they can declare martial law in America and turn it into a federally controlled state.
