Crack Your Girl, Keep Your Job

  • It's been almost three months since Charles Reed was accused of pistol whipping his girlfriend and beating her with his fists. He was reassigned by the City Office of Emergency Management and Communications where he had been working the past five years as a fire department dispatcher, sometimes deploying ambulances to the kind of incident he was charged with.

The city moved to fire him. Tonight the I-Team has learned, that isn't happening.

Instead, here at OEMC headquarters 35-year old Reed will be returning to the dispatch floor to his old job as a fire department communications and, according to city records, Reed will continue collecting his city salary of $79,740.

Some are dissatisfied with this turn of events including some female co-workers who have complained to their superiors.
His coworkers aren't satisfied? How about Rahm's new boss at OEMC? The female National Guard general - she wants a woman beater working for her? A guy who used a pistol to beat the shit out of his girlfriend?

Oh, his "Illinois Human Rights" would be violated. Geez, we had forgotten about those. Yet another product of the liberal Illinois political combine that puts every special interest ahead of actual, you know, common sense.

Which "revrund" sponsored this piece of excrement?

It's just another example of rules not applying to people they like. Supervisors have their favorites and they can do no wrong while everyone else gets treated like shit.

All the clouted and special people get detailed off the operations floor and get hid in a do nothing job, and if they're not hiding, they do as little as possible when taking calls or dispatching. They walk around, take 10 cigarette breaks, volunteer to work lunch for overtime and still take a lunch break.

These are the same assholes that treat coworkers like shit because they're protected. You can't even say hello to some of them otherwise you get insulted. It's like high school and the popular kids picking on the nerds.

He could buy himself a ball-point pen and some packages of noodles with that.

"The Domestic Violence Division

"The Cook County State's Attorney's Office continually strives to improve its services to victims of domestic violence. To that end, in February of 1997, the office created a Domestic Violence Division that aggressively prosecutes these cases on a county-wide basis with a staff of specially trained attorneys.

"This division focuses exclusively on cases of domestic violence and the staff works to respond to an increasing caseload which now numbers more than 450 cases a week. These attorneys handle both felony and misdemeanor cases through vertical prosecution, a method that provides consistent service to the victim and continuity to the case as it travels through the system from beginning to end.

"Domestic violence is one of the more complicated crimes to which our office responds, and our attorneys benefit from the expertise of a trained staff of investigators and victim-witness specialists. These members of our support staff and attorneys are specially trained in the dynamics of domestic violence, an invaluable component of our overall response..."

How many cops have been locked up for Domestic Violence and are still on the job?

Off the top of my head, I know of 30.

The truth is that many Domestic allegations are not true and in the fraction that are true, many of those victims still refuse to prosecute. Are we now advocating to fire people for unproven allegations?

Tried and acquitted -- by OEMC.

Employers never used to be primary law enforcers, meting out punishments. Even send the wrong "tweet" today and you're gone. Or not. Depends on what you are and who you know.

If someone lost their job due to some offense they committed, it used to generally be because the justice system had them locked up and they weren't going to be in Monday. Or next Monday. Or next year. This consequence followed; it did not lead, and preclude existing legal sanctions.

Back at work in three months? People unable to make bail often sit in Cook County Jail for a year or more waiting for a violent-felony case like this to work its way through the system.

It seems like a whole rather important step was skipped over here, doesn't it?

It's just another sickening chapter in the Democrats Continuing War On Women.

Can you imagine if this guy had been a republican. Or dare shall we say -- white. Not only would this asshole not have his old job back, he'd be run out of town.

He'd be hounded by every women's group in existence, by our crack the media -- making his home address public -- 'by accident', naturally. And every Dem pol in Chicago would be in front of TV cameras and microphones demanding 'justice' for the abused woman -- 'justice' being the guys hide nailed to a wall. But none of that is the case. He's of the 'protected class' so all is well for him.

And yet, idiot leftists -- like the ones who post comments on the Tribune site -- are baffled as to why Chicago is looked at with scorn and derision by the sane, decent, parts of the country.

OK. My bad. Just waking up. I finally read the story, duh. CPD did come in, reports made, charges filed.

"Reed was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and not a felony, authorities say, because the victim didn't want to pursue felony charges."

Felony charges have been lodged and pursued by the State's Attorney even when the victim refused to press any charges; "the state gonna pick up the case." Other people easily get ag bat/intent grave bodily harm off something less than this.

"Reed's brother also works for the city's OEMC as Deputy Director of 911 Operations."

Ah. That helps.

It is repugnant in a case like this, but I feel that it is true that no one should be fired upon allegations, which is where it stands now. If a conviction is obtained, then it's something to look at again.

Every law passed has unintended consequences. I am guessing this law was passed to protect people from arbitrary dismissals in the private sector for something that a person does during their own time. However, then along comes something like this. If the guy worked for Sears he would not lose his job for this. The fact he works for a public safety organization makes it look bad. The real question here is why does that job pay 79 grand a year , and what qualifications does this guy have for getting the job? People want to know why taxes are so high just look at these government jobs and the pay and benefits provided. far in excess of jobs in the private sector.

In the liberal food chain, blacks still trump women. But that could change one day. Think of it this way - if you remove him from his job, then you'll just have to figure out another way to give him $79,000 a year. It's a lot easier just to keep him where he is.

They can't fire him for off duty conduct even though it resulted in an arrest.

And the person he battered refused to press charges....so without a guilty verdict, the law department can not allow he OEMC to terminate for off duty conduct.

This has a good side and a bad side to it.

The good point is this situation now provides even Chicago Labor Union a specific point that proves what we do while off duty, it it isn't something that co-insides with your on duty position , can not be used against you by management to discipline or terminate.

But on the flip side, you have to work with these shitheads until they do something on duty to get screwed.

OT: Eddie Johnson says he will wear a body camera "as a way to restore trust and accountability in the department". Great. So one of the 450 cameras will be wasted on the Supt who has very little interaction with any real people. The only question I have is will this camera be rolling during private meetings with aldercreatures? Revruns? The mayor? Because it absolutely should be running every minute he is doing his job...just like it is with the patrolmen! His police duties may be different in form but such meetings are his police duties!! I hope the media presses the mayor on this! This camera better be running during all these meetings or I call bullshit! And what's good for the goose is good for the gander...if Eddie can pick and choose when the camera is running then so can I! Unless and until the higher ups are held to the same standard expect me to mirror them...I don't do the "do as I say not as I do" mantra...sorry!

I think the misconception that many people have about cops is that if this idiot was a cop we'd be making excuses for him and looking to give him a break. I have no desire to have a coworker who behaves in such a manner. I'd be relieved to see a cop that committed this sort of act fired, just as I hope this idiot is eventually held accountable for his actions. But we all know how the discipline system works around these parts...

I guess the fact his brother is a boss at OEMC makes him untouchable no matter what he does. This makes the mayor look like someone who condones this type of behavior.
