Officers Shot, Cut

  • A Chicago police officer suffered a gunshot wound and another suffered a cut to the hand in the Little Village neighborhood Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The Ogden District officer who was shot about 4:15 p.m. apparently was hit by a bullet that went through the shoulder, and he was expected to survive, an official said. He was shot near Trumbull and 25th Street while chasing an armed suspect, said Anthony Guglielmi, a police spokesman, said in a Tweet.

It was not clear how the other officer cut his hand. A gun was found at the scene and was being taken into evidence, a source said.

The two were being taken to area hospitals for treatment, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was expected to make a statement about the shooting later Monday evening at Stroger Hospital.
Hopefully, Johnson isn't going there to strip them of their police powers. Maybe he'll slip them the answers to the Detective exam instead?

Best wishes to the injured for a speedy and full recovery.

You seem to have more info than Superintendent Johnson, SCC.
His live press briefing two minutes ago was an embarrassment.
He had no details, or claimed not to, and his narrative of the story differed from that of the officers on the scene, which has already been reported on social media and in the msm.

My advice to Johnson would be: from now on, let someone else handle the off-the-cuff press briefings. They can say you're occupied, visiting with the officers and their families, offering assistance to them. You'll seem to be a great guy and your spokesperson can be well-prepared and articulate.

It is open season on Police Officers .
Officers are hesitant to use deadly force because our democratic leaders all Police Officers racist terrorists . Politicians have not once called for a march to stop the violence against the only people that protect all citizens .
Not one First Respondershould vote for a democrat in the next election .
Where are the Police Unions marching. Demanding all two man cars .
Where are the phony reverends , they are against the police .
The gangs are violent , need to be stopped.
Stay fetal , no street stops unless you have two cars on the scene . If you see a gun , feel threatened , eliminate the threat .
Please do not become a victim .

Supt. Johnson, Mayor Rahm, the ACLU, IPRA, and A.S.A. Kim Foxx are going to look for ways to fuck these coppers down the road and get them fired!

Just like the Coppers in the Irving Park Mcdonalds, Armed Robbery Arrest for they way they took down the Robbers!

I bet they will get jammed up for NOT filling out an ISR on these criminals, as the coppers were chasing them to give a receipt!

You heard it here first! No Confidence in this Police Dept. or City!

He caves to Community pressure easier than a cardboard box in a rain storm.
These guys shouldn't need answers to a Detective Test, they proved their worth. Far beyond I would recommend at this day and age.
Thank God the injuries weren't so severe. I hope they are doing well.
Team Johnson & Jones have no street credibility that these two courageous officers had just displayed.
They Should be made at the very least, Detectives. The trauma that they just sustained is going to affect their participation in the up coming Det Test.
Good work guys.

True statement but let me first say I wish the cops well and hope for full recovery. But if the cops would have killed this asshole there would be screaming, hollering and a 7 figure settlement. I continue to think of that cop who was ambushed by some asshole and killed. In the military you could not cross a red line on any ship or facility. If you did, that was your ass. You had to show ID or deadly force was authorized. Once I was on a ship and they did a security drill. Guy I was with was a jerk and crossed the red line. This Marine fucked him like he owed him money. We need rules like that. Fuck this. I want my kids to be able to go to the store and ride the bus like I used to.

First, prayers to the injured officer for a complete recovery.

It's funny you mention ISR because WBBM news radio just played a soundbite from that fucking asshole where he was quoted referencing this incident as a good example of "community interaction" by the officers and how it resulted in an ISR being generated.

THAT was the primary focus of the statement to the media. He did NOT reference the officer's well-being past "he should be released from the hospital tonight", nor did he denounce or condemn the actions of the offenders.

Un... Fucking... Believable.

Are you paying attention to all of this, FOP? Again, I say a vote of no confidence in order.

Supt. Eddie Johnson needs to step up to the plate and take ownership of his duty, his responsibility to protect his citizenry and to protect his fine, out-standing Chicago Police Officers. Rather, with his latest suspension of 2 Police Officers who were suddenly taken off the streets cause of their involvement with a Criminal in the act of aggression and of which, at the time 5 years ago, the Officers were found to be in compliance and the Criminal was deemed found guilty by a jury of peers....it's apparent Johnson is a token head of CPD and is now doing Rahm's bidding. Surely a bad beginning.

Was watching WGN 4:30 news; officers shot was part of the traffic report (area congested due to officers shot & ongoing investigation, area is saturated with police, find alternate route). Their 5:00 news wasn't much better... Still part of the traffic report, then extreme weather rolling in, then Dennis Hastert, then a kid who was admitted to several universities, then a blurb about officer shot. It was pretty disgusting. Really? An officer shot is not more important?!?! It's just rolled into the traffic report! What would have happened if the officer shot the kid instead? (Assuming it's a kid/teen/whatever, but I don't know.) No respect for cops doing what they do every day of their career & being in the line of danger every day.

Anything requiring a modicum of intelligence, experience and training was given to Pallohousky of all people, or Staples. Eddie is another affirmative action hire and if not a merit promotee was certainly given a heads-up on pt. II of the lieutenants test. He's not that smart; however, he was
supervising the most competent dicks in the city and therefore his job was easy. He provided his broad inside info to the last lieutenants test and for that he should be fired. Eddie, you can't do what I did, pass a test, be promoted and be your own man. You'll be gone soon, goof.

I'm just saying, I can see the state legislature passing a bill saying that cops should always attempt less than lethal force in response to deadly force used against them. You know, because the bobbies in London don't need guns and all.

Johnson said the arresting officer tased the offender prior to taking him into custody and Johnson applauded his restraint. Really? I'm not second guessing the officer for tasing the guy. Perhaps there was reason to do so. Perhaps they were in close quarters or in a crowd and he had to use the taser. However, I do think Johnson needs to shut the fuck up if he thinks that a taser is the preferred response when dealing with an offender that shot a police officer. I really hope he doesn't get any officers killed.

Pain effects your every day life and the simplest of tasks. Morons like you, that have no idea of what living with this is like when you are barely fifty years old and not knowing how quickly the arthritis and everything will progress, apparently think that sending us to a desk with more pain meds is the answer and who cares if in a few more years, you need more surgeries or worse. How that makes any sense and WHY you actually believed it I have no idea. Now if you're talking about Vincent Richardson, yes, I believe he really wanted to be the police.

His biggest fear is to be forced to take an IQ test. "Room temperature" at best.

Yeah his jocker gets a 100% on the LT test so why would anyone have the nerve to connect him to it? Prayers to the officers hurt.

A speedy recovery to the officers. I thank God it was not worse.
As far as the superintendent goes.....no respect for him. It seems his priorities are up Rahm's ass. It is quite apparent that he doesn't support his police officers but will stand with the criminal element while he scrutinizes the actions of his police officers even after they do an outstanding job.

The superintendent is a political hack. Most likely meritoriously promoted up the ranks.
Showed his true self with the latest stripping of police officers. He is more concerned with the convicted felons than for his own officers.
No comment on the violence against the police?

That's what you say when you have nothing else to say.
It isn't because they're jealous and wish they were us.
They're full of contempt for us. They have nothing but contempt for the standards we represent. It's pretty similar to Isis; they want to dismantle everything we are and everything we believe in.

And supposedly, when the almighty EJ learned one of his officers was shot, he was about to have some BS meeting. He decided to go ahead with the meeting in stead of going to the scene. Maybe this is why he had no clue as he spoke in front of the press, let alone show any care of the officers involved

No, he does not. He deserves every courtesy from the department. He deserves to take full advantage of the medical roll. But catching a bullet does not confer brilliance or new abilities on the shootee.

When compared to the %95 of other merit promotees, yes he does. Most merit guys aren't dick for coppers, so unless you're going to completely eliminate merit, he should get it. You can be jealous all you want stroke, he deserves it, and he will probably get it.

So, two wrongs make it right? The merit process sucks, but catching lead still doesn't make you qualified to be a detective.
And don't worry your pretty little head about me. I studied for two years, got my promotion (real promotion, not a job title change). I'm all good. Thanks for your sincere concern, though.

if you listen to the radio traffic, the perp TOSSED the pistol and when it hit the ground it went off and struck the officer. His partner chased down the suspect and tazed him. It would have been really bad if they would have dumped him after announcing on the radio that the weapon was tossed and went off when it hit the ground.

THATS why they didn't shoot his ass, deserving or not.
