Officers Shot, Cut
- A Chicago police officer suffered a gunshot wound and another suffered a cut to the hand in the Little Village neighborhood Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The Ogden District officer who was shot about 4:15 p.m. apparently was hit by a bullet that went through the shoulder, and he was expected to survive, an official said. He was shot near Trumbull and 25th Street while chasing an armed suspect, said Anthony Guglielmi, a police spokesman, said in a Tweet.
It was not clear how the other officer cut his hand. A gun was found at the scene and was being taken into evidence, a source said.
The two were being taken to area hospitals for treatment, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was expected to make a statement about the shooting later Monday evening at Stroger Hospital.
Hopefully, Johnson isn't going there to strip them of their police powers. Maybe he'll slip them the answers to the Detective exam instead?

You seem to have more info than Superintendent Johnson, SCC.
His live press briefing two minutes ago was an embarrassment.
He had no details, or claimed not to, and his narrative of the story differed from that of the officers on the scene, which has already been reported on social media and in the msm.
My advice to Johnson would be: from now on, let someone else handle the off-the-cuff press briefings. They can say you're occupied, visiting with the officers and their families, offering assistance to them. You'll seem to be a great guy and your spokesperson can be well-prepared and articulate.

It's funny you mention ISR because WBBM news radio just played a soundbite from that fucking asshole where he was quoted referencing this incident as a good example of "community interaction" by the officers and how it resulted in an ISR being generated.
THAT was the primary focus of the statement to the media. He did NOT reference the officer's well-being past "he should be released from the hospital tonight", nor did he denounce or condemn the actions of the offenders.

Was watching WGN 4:30 news; officers shot was part of the traffic report (area congested due to officers shot & ongoing investigation, area is saturated with police, find alternate route). Their 5:00 news wasn't much better... Still part of the traffic report, then extreme weather rolling in, then Dennis Hastert, then a kid who was admitted to several universities, then a blurb about officer shot. It was pretty disgusting. Really? An officer shot is not more important?!?! It's just rolled into the traffic report! What would have happened if the officer shot the kid instead? Johnson said the arresting officer tased the offender prior to taking him into custody and Johnson applauded his restraint. Really? I'm not second guessing the officer for tasing the guy. Perhaps there was reason to do so. Perhaps they were in close quarters or in a crowd and he had to use the taser. How about this, we have someone repair your shoulder, put screws, a plate and cadaver bone in your neck, cause bulging discs in your lower back, nerve damage and no reflexes in both of your lower extremities but when they are done, you can still walk and talk, so we'll make sure you get limited desk duty. The snide comment about the Supt. slipping answers to an upcoming promo exam were truly unnecessary, SCC. With all of the allegations posted here, nothing has been said or posted that has connected Supt. Johnson (directly or otherwise) to the so-called 'cheating scandal.' A cheap shot at best.

After hearing the Supt's statement on this incident as well as the re-investigation of an already adjudicated 5 y/o incident, I think it's time for a vote of no confidence by the members.

No, he does not. He deserves every courtesy from the department. He deserves to take full advantage of the medical roll. But catching a bullet does not confer brilliance or new abilities on the shootee.

When compared to the %95 of other merit promotees, yes he does. Most merit guys aren't dick for coppers, so unless you're going to completely eliminate merit, he should get it. You can be jealous all you want stroke, he deserves it, and he will probably get it.

Investigative Stop Report. A report cops have to complete to explain and justify why they stopped and detained someone.

if you listen to the radio traffic, the perp TOSSED the pistol and when it hit the ground it went off and struck the officer. His partner chased down the suspect and tazed him. It would have been really bad if they would have dumped him after announcing on the radio that the weapon was tossed and went off when it hit the ground.
THATS why they didn't shoot his ass, deserving or not.
