Award Ceremony

We missed any media coverage of the event.

Was there any?

We did notice that the comment section was alive with Gene Williams winning the "Leadership Award," probably for something like the awesome study group he ran that resulted in an astronomical first class percentage that rivaled any historical highs by established study groups like Bernstein.

Anyone know who got the big awards? Or would that be painting the police in a positive light?

The awards ceremony was a disgrace. First, this is not to take away from the great work of many of he officers that were awarded. However, this once great event was turned into a politically correct shit show. Acts of valor that require the infliction of sudden deadly violence by police, in order to save lives and keep order were all but ignored. Instead, they added the life saving award to the ceremony and there were far more of those than the awards of valor. They created a new bullshit award called the Tactical Excellence Award. This is awarded to oficers that are justified in the use of deadly force but did not exercise such force. You cant make this up. Curtis introduced Rahm as "the greatest mayor of the. Greatest city and the biggest supporter of the police." The whole thing is an insult to the hard working and brave officers and those fucking bosses on the stage know it but are wiilingly letting Rahm destroy the department.

The saddest part of the Recognition Ceremony, aside from Gene's cheating goons getting loud and giving him a standing ovation, was the actual tone of the whole ceremony. Members were honored for "exercising discretion" and FOR NOT SHOOTING at armed offenders in a confrontation. The whole police world is upside-down.

The Department and Rahm are either Tone Deaf or truly believe that old Nazi cliche: "If you tell the lie long enough, it becomes the truth". That Gene Williams even showed up for the award was amazing, because he probably is or will soon be the Respondent in more than a couple of lawsuits over the Lt.'s Exam, if not an entire class action. Some people in the audience were stunned when Williams received the award. But there was also humor, when they gave a De-Escalation Award to tactical officers who convinced a piece of shit not to sue them! They did that by convincing the POS to drop his gun, so they would not have to shoot him and be sued by Loevy and Loevy! Oh and then there were the coppers who guarded and we assume babysat the children for some young prom goers in Da Hood. The courageous and bold action of those officers saved those young people from being shot; that weekend. The Chicago Police Department has become a joke; unfortunately at the expense of working cops. Real Policing free of Political Correctness and Corruption will now be limited to T.V. and the movies. Stay Fetal, Stay Fetal. Baby"G"

ever hear the word boycot? Turn your backsides to the corrupt mayor, like they did in New York. Don't shake rahm's hand. Actions speak louder then words.

I want to thank all you guys and gals. You are the ones who serve and protect even to those who give you s**t. I don't live in the city anymore and haven't for years but because I was with FEMA we worked in the city at times. Back in the 92 tunnel flood we were stopping people from going down in basements and my CO and I were confronted by a alderman who wanted to look around a basement. When we told him no he got pissed off and and pulled out a badge and we still told him you still can't go down. That was the most fun we had all the time that we were there. All of you be careful out there this weekend and thank you.

A lot of the heroes DO stay away from these awards. You have the option of attending or not and you have to inform them in advance whether you will or won't be present. So, when you see twenty people physically there, receiving awards, think a moment about the other ten who declined to attend.

I was at ceremony. Those numbers Intel had were outstanding but Kennedy hooking his gang guys up to get awards because of other problems work is a shame. The money they brought in alone should go to our pension. Wonder where it went. Lol maybe narcotics Shiism stop doing buy busts and work cases again.

If I was offered the Tactical Excellence Award, I would walk up on the stage and refuse it saying I will never wear this award on my uniform. Of course that is why I retired after 34 years as a patrolman , did a stint in Englewood and was threatened by more empty holstered pricks than I can count. I couldn't work for the BB balled bosses we mostly have today. They wouldn't make a good pimple on a real police officers ass.

Anybody else's stomach turn as the maniacal
sissy mayor pranced his shitty ass to the head
of the Memorial Day Parade and was marching and
basking in accolades like he accomplished something
on the field of battle?

This m/fer definitely has something seriously wrong
with him.

Tone-Deaf, disassociation addled, attention-seeking lunatic
who actually has no use for honorable, manly institutions
like The Police and The Military.

There was 1 Blue Star awarded. One! For an entire year? That didn't seem right. But at least they didn't give out 100 Valor Awards like McStreetlights used to do.

JUST A CITIZEN SAYS:
Ya know what I, just a lowly citizen thinks? I think that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU deserve an award. And a raise. And your pension WITHOUT QUESTION. You are dealing with, day after day, year after year, the lowest of the lows, the scum of the earth, the most evil minds, the laziest losers and worst parents on this planet. And you aren't allowed to be honest, or protect yourself or take down the enemy.

ALL OF YOU DESERVE AWARDS, not just who the higher-ups think are important or need stroking.

In my 30 years I have never attended an award ceremony. I do not wear all my bars and such on my uniform. I have earned all my awards, been denied some because of petty bosses, but quietly march on. Knowing that I have the respect of my coworkers is more than enough for me. Never felt the need to suck on these bosses dicks, or scream look at me...

You get the Blue Star for being shot. It's not really a subjective award. If somebody was shot and didn't get the Blue Star this year, they will get it next year.

This department has fed our children, has allowed us to be comfortable, and we will have a future long after we leave. So knock off your sob shit. In other words stop your whining and pull your big boy pants up! Before I slap the stupid out of you. Let's get the Democratic party out of CHICAGO!!

One question for the person who posted this - how do YOU feel about the fact that Gene Williams stood on the stage and received a "leadership" award at the same ceremony where people were honored for putting their lives on the line? I hope that you are as disgusted as I am.

Didn't Al claim to be shooting at a gang-banger who created a disturbance at Al's family party, only to end up shooting some old lady neighbor in the process? Surely that was enough heroism in one family to earn him multiple merit promotions and appointment to the rank of First Deputy Superintendent along with his wife's suspicious promotion to lieutenant.

Remember...CPD: Earned not given.
