Um....Upgrade?

  • A young man was stabbed in the chest for trying to help a woman and her kids who were being harassed on a city bus.

Now, that Good Samaritan’s mother is speaking out and tells FOX 32’s that she's thankful there were good people around when the tables turned on her son.

Jose Santiago was the only one who stepped up when he saw a group up to no good on the Diversey bus Monday. But his good deed ended with him in the hospital being treated for a stab wound.

“My son is suffering, he's in pain,” said mother Gladys Santiago.
But then we read this:
  • Luckily, his family says bystanders took photos of the stabbing suspect and handed them over to police at the scene. Those photos led police to 23-year old Gildalthi Rodriguez, who’s now been charged with misdemeanor battery.
Misdemeanor? For sticking a piece of metal into someone's ribs? Did he get I-bonded from the station? This sudden tendency to under-charge or RWOC only further endangers the officers/detectives who have to go get the offender again, who knows exactly why the cops are knocking on the door the second time.

WTF?

Wrong call. Why wasn't it attempted murder?

You have crime in Chicago - because you ain't locking up those who are doing it.

Wake up.

I was surprised to see this too.

Maybe cta couldn't produce video in time and state said they would upgrade in court?
Unlikely as cta loves to use its video, could've been an older bus and needed to be downloaded of hard drive on bus.

Maybe victim refused to go with felony.

GBH, weapon and public way are all there, should be a felony

I hate to say it but didn't the family members of the woman killed on the RED LINE last week go onto the news and make a public statement on how they were all upset that nobody stood up and did anything while their family member got stabbed to death? "Everybody just stood there?" Well I'm sorry for your loss but this is exactly why nobody stood up. Nobody on the train was an off-duty cop, had a weapon and protective vest nor a police radio nor training. Do you really think after seeing someone get butchered in front of you on a red line train that someone is going to put pause their Facebooking, put their iPhone down and jump in after seeing that? Then you get stabbed and nothing happens to the offender?

Wake up Chicagoans. Your adjacent train rider is there to film your demise and maybe give a witness statement and that's about it. If you think for one second the train as a whole is going to save you then guess again. Actually I am selling one of the Chicago bridges. Call me. I'm taking cash down payments via PayPal.

What do you expect when calling a John Marshall's junior law school grad at felony review? That's the only place that will hire a grad from there.

Not a good policy; however, understandable in the interests of PC, diversity and multiculturalism. Good progressives are very PC.

How about Attempted Murder? If that blade went into the young mans heart he would be dead. Many thanks to the Hero who stepped up to help.

Should be in jail for attempting murder.

We won't clean up Chicago until scum like this is safe behind bars for a decade or more.

Wait a minute.
The offender WAS LOCKED UP.
The State's Attorney's Office decided the charge to be a misdemeanor.
The State's Atty and the Court system are the ones that are undercharging and letting people go on probation etc.
The police are doing their job.
How about you hold others in the criminal justice system accountable for crime running rampant.

Felony Review should be abolished. The legislature set up the law this way and the ASA should not be allowed to screw with it.

After two decades of working Units 701 & 702, I can say today that the CTA is NOT SAFE, anywhere or anytime. If you doubt me consider that most if not all of the violent crime in the 019th District, and much of the 018th Dist. that comes into those areas directly from the CTA, especially Belmont!Much of the CTA crime is not even reported, and some is actually reported after the person leaves the System or City, so it is credited to elsewhere. Parents naively send their kids to school on the buses and trains; those kids are then subjected to some of the most vile, low-life predators in the City. CAMERAS DO NOT MAKE ARRESTS, and the personnel assigned to the System cannot possibly provide a fraction of manpower needed, that is why CTA has supplemented for over thirty years, the use of off-duty cops working their days off. Anyone who rides the System is risking their lives and well-being. When Rahm rides the Brown Line, he is surrounded by armed guards, and when his kids go to Lab School, they are driven their by armed bodyguards. Stay Fetal, Stay Fetal, Baby"G"

Thing about stab wounds is that the difference between trivial and fatal can be as little as half inch.

Radical leftist policies are in place to undermine authority and cause chaos on the streets. Law enforcement is being targeted by them for a reason. You must protect yourselves now, as this comes from the head radical leftist in the White House. It's not an accident that they and Black Lies Matters are working to undermine police. Protect yourselves at all costs.

And don't forget to vote against Hillary, the next radical leftist cop hater.

They wonder why no one wants to get involved. You get stabbed and you get victimized again when they give inappropriate charges.
