HQ Car Stolen? (UPDATE)

An unmarked?

Right from the lot?

Has it been recovered?

Isn't someone sitting in the booth?

No one watching the cameras inside?

UPDATE: Come on...seriously?
  • 002 Tac said...

It was an unmarked dodge van with "M" plates that the honor guard uses. Recovered at 3500 Lake Park Avenue. The shitbirds ran it outta gas then cleaned the van out.... Flags, rifles etc. all gone. What HQ doesn't want you to know is that the goofs left it running when it was taken, and it WASNT taken out of HQs lot. Rumor is Rule 14 violations in the works for falsyfying a stolen vehicle report, etc. Lets see how heavy the clout babies in this unit are.

To much expense and waste of manpower just to watch over some jalopy's. The car was not worth the bother, and the CPD has lots more worn out/trashed vehicles where that one came from.

It is not "stolen".

It is "unaccounted for".

Reminds me of the story of some guy in a unit years ago who got hold of a covert car and drove it for three years. He drove it to and from work, went to his assignments whatever they were, took his kids to school. No problems and nothing out of the ordinary until he thought it was time to get a new car.

Then some brass/asshat blew a gasket and wanted to fire him or worse. This guy claimed he was supposed to have that car. No you were not said Deputy Brass Asshat, we new nothing about it! Excuse me, said the guy, look at all the papers I filed with that car number on it, I only fuel it up at department fuel pumps, and I got the regular oil changes and tires at the Area Garages all with my name and ID connected to them.

He may have been bounced from the unit but he got three years of car usage.

When I went for my last piss test, there was no one in the booth. Seems like quite the safety issue at public "safety" headquarters. Just part of doing more with less I guess. No one in the booth means one more officer on the street... right? Yeah, let's go with that.

Proof positive that 300,000 more cameras are needed. Right?

One copper with a .38 and a good hard stick used to do better on them old shoes that needed a re-soling.

...and everybody knows it but won't admit it...

First, a bunch of jagoffs with their pants sagging off of their asses storm into headquarters and get in the face of police officers and threaten to whoop their ass. Nothing done and these fucking officers sit there with a holy shit what should I do look on their stupid fucking faces. Now we lose a van full of equipment and fucking guns. Holy shit is this place a fucking embarrassment. Maybe we should take a page out of father fakers playbook and turn our flags upside down. We are definitely in distress.

That's as good a the goof from 009 that took a marked car home and hid it in his garage for several years. Never used it. Just had it hidden in his garage. When they finally retrieved the car, no charges, no department sanctions, nothing happened to the guy. He just quietly retired.

At the BET awards an actor named Jesse Williams made a speech about black lives matter and equality.

He said that the police always disarm and descalate with white folks but not with blacks. We just kill blacks. He said that in Cleveland the police did a drive by and killed Tamir Rice. He mentioned Rikiah Boyd and Sandra Bland.

Fuck this bullshit. Yet the mainstream media is eating it up. The black community always wants to talk about race and inequality. I want to ask them, why is the fuck that all the other minorities are getting ahead except you? My next door neighbors are Filipino. They own two businesses and both of their kids went to top tier universities. One graduated from University of Chicago and the other one is now in Stanford.

I was in the Intelligence unit way back when ( 80's) and a couple of the guys wives actually had a few of the covert cars to use. I heard this also happened at HQ where some of the City Hall clouted obtained unmarked police cars and covert cars for their use. The covert cars back then were vehicles confiscated under Art. 38 of the criminal code. The head mechanic at 51st Street had a list of the cars and their plate numbers. Somehow the mob obtained this list. How did that happen?

Kinda what I figured...while 3510 security isn't the best, I don't see anyone coming into that lot and actually STEALING a car by peeling the column, etc. (the way cars are commonly stolen). But I see someone taking some time for leaving a dept. vehicle running and unattended. LOTS of days off for that one, and for whatever story was concocted in an attempt to cover their screw up of leaving that vehicle running and unattended.

Ran track in high school to stay out of trouble. Ran three events; quarter, quarter relay and mile. Track was a sport that required no equipment. Coach bought my shoes. Sometimes trained in shoes other teammates threw away. Asked my parents for $30 for the police test, said it was out of the question. Now, thanks to Rham, I have a shot. Now Retired... something from experience

"... The shitbirds ran it outta gas then cleaned the van out.... Flags, rifles etc. all gone. What HQ doesn't want you to know is that the goofs left it running when it was taken, ..."

I've said this many times at Roll Calls. If you get a call of suspicious person or a burglar alarm at a V.F.W. or an American Legion Hall take it real seriously. These places can have a dozen or so WWI and WWII ceremonial rifles in there and the security may not be the best. The rifle may be old and the semi-automatic function removed but they still can pick you off from two blocks away.

He was using it until he crashed one day. In it were some drugs he picked up at the lab and forgot to turn into the district. You cant make this shit up.

Timekeeper
Crossing guard supervisor
Watch secretary
Review officer
Compstat people

I know 012 2nd watch still has these positions staffed by p.o's. The press release should've had the disclaimer " unless your a clout house mouse or are too scared to work the streets!"

I always wanted to be a cop. Graduated high school, went to college on a scholarship. Never bought books, got my textbooks through free interlibrary loan from Newberry Library. Never smoked dope. In the meantime, I am training for the Chicago Marathon. If I can finish high enough to get a cash prize, I will be able to pay for equipment in the academy.

Nice story. If you dont get the marathon money, but get into the academy, the Patrolmans Federal Credit Union will usually give you a loan for the uniform equipment. Think they have a $5,000 limit for the new recruits

Sounds familiar, last month Gang Investigations recovered 2 CPD stolen PDT's. One was recovered after they set dude up to buy it and they arrested him. The other one was recovered in a house in 009th district. It's funny you hear nothing about this and the media is silent.

""I was in the Intelligence unit way back when ( 80's) and a couple of the guys wives actually had a few of the covert cars to use. How did that happen?""

Ever wonder why almost everyone in the old Intelligence unit was Italian?

LOL, you cant make this shit up.

Hey 002 Sarge,

You sound like a pompous ass. First off the "unit" is not a "unit" it's a detail. Officers on the honor guard work in 007 (who I worked with), 009, 008, 015, SWAT, detectives, sergeants, districts and units. I've read tryouts in the daily bulletin, but what do I know. But what else is there to expect from a shit district like 002, with a shit commander and even shitier front line supervisors. Go back to your mom's basement you fucking tool.

You guys are so cruel to this I want to be a copper. The poor kid had no gym shoes to run and no money. Son, go to Newberry library and watch "Forest Gump." he ran and ran and ran and ran. He owned Bubba Swimp and got new gym shoes to run again. A few suggestion dear man, tell ma and pa to give up the pipe for a couple days, hit the alleys and street for tin cans, (You like outdoors), Go cry to Father Fleger for shoes, tell ma and pa to sell their cardboard house by the river, Go hustle the yuppies off the Kennedy for chump change and limp a bit, or go fuck yourself you idiot looking for $ 30.00.
Hitch a ride to California and hit Hollywood and ask the stars to take you in. Hey, people in the hills never had shoes to walk around with during the Huckinberry Finn era. Running bare foot will make your souls get tuff.

They do, and they usually do an excellent job. That however does NOT change the FACT that it's a PHONE CALL unit. And rarely is Common Sense required for these 'special' unit folks, as evidenced by adults not smart enough to turn off a running vehicle anywhere in this city. Tamp THAT shit back, chump.

@@@@@

Unit?? Are you dumb? You work in the deuce so you must be. They work in districts and do the honor guard when it comes up as needed for functions or funerals. They don't get put in a special honor guard unit where they sit around and practice all day. They work a beat car or tac car or whatever the job is, then when called for a service they do it. They practice on their own time, much like the guys in the pipe and drum or emerald society. Are you that dumb? All are prior military and usually volunteer to join the honor guard. Dumb dumb dumb. Just goes to show what kinda white shirts are out here.

You will find this story in the fiction section at your local library.

If you insist on sticking with the story then I must go with this: If you are unable to scrape together $30 bucks to realize your life's dream, then you are too stupid to be on this job.

Stay out of my wallet you freeloaders. I've had it with this Nanny State. Grow up. Do things for yourself.

If you've attended college, you ought to be able to square away some sort of job that pays you enough to be able to pay the lousy $30 application fee. If you're that down and out, you need to go stand in the middle of street with a cup in your hand...yeah, that's the ticket. Put less into running some dumb long distance race which you will never win (unless you're Kenyan or Egyptian) and put more into getting a job that will allow you to bank away some dough to get yourself outfitted be a Chicago cop...IF you pass the entry exam and get hired! Priorities, Francis!

There are 2 glaring inaccuracies in your post. First, he wasn't a goof. As far as being a cop is concerned most of you wouldn't make a pimple on his ass. He was one of the best around. Second, he did use the car and there were fueling tickets to back it up. He had a good enough reputation that he was allowed to retire.

And so far no inside people have been out???? The civilians are angry, rightfully so, as they were hired at a rate that was lowered after they left prior employment not to mention the other crap they were promised then denied once in the academy. They can not do reports because they can not log into anything????? Does anyone in this city have a clue how to run things? we need a Donald Trump for mayor and superintendent.?????????????????If Joe Citizen knew what was going on behind the curtain he would want a refund.

Many departments, across the world, staff these types of positions with part-timers, who are recently retired police officers. Working inside, 2-3-4 days or nights a week can make a nice transition from one phase of life to another.

Certainly better than hiring political hacks and gang bangers for those jobs.

I certainly agree...give those spots to "Part timers" or retirees. Not full salaried P.O.'s (and i use the term lightly because they wear the uniform but are not the police). Offer those house mice that same job but at a 50% salary cut and watch those office spots vacate faster than a room full of roaches when the lights come on!

Crossing guards are no longer part of the police but OEMC. Timekeeper IS a civilian position, but then don't complain when the 83 year old time keeper fucks up your time worst than she does now. Watch secretary IS going to be civilian position too. Review is a BID spot so don't be jealous. Compstat I'm sure will go to the secretary to do.

Let's talk about the people who were allowed to take promotional classes on duty while everyone else covered their beat. I hope the DOJ was told that. Hmmm I'll bet not. But then again maybe they did.
