Lieutenants Promoted

Twenty-seven promotions, but not starting until after the World Series
  • BAIER, J 121 (another from IAD?)
    BALLAUER J 312
    BLOCK A 025
    BRANNIGAN W 001
    CALDERDON G 189 (detail to 116)
    DE LA TOPRRE M 009
    GEORGAS, S 050 (big surprise)
    HOWARD, J 191
    JANOPOULOS, J 311
    KENDIOR K 011
    LAMB JR, T 353
    LEE, A 630
    MCHUGH C 016
    MULLENIX C 018
    MUNIZ, S 010
    MURPHY J 192
    PARHAM, A 015 (detail to 620)
    RASHAN, E 312
SCHULER, J 121 (and another IAD)
    SHOSHI, L 003 (211)
    STADNIK, R 010
    VANNA, R 121 (IAD again?)
    WEIGLEIN, T 025 (detail to 123)
    WEST, L 115
    WILSON, M 720 (detail to 123)
    WINES P 189
    WISER, R 620
Only eight from Patrol Division - the supposed "backbone" of the Department.

And three more from IAD? Two from Human Resources? It must be something in the water on the 5th floor of HQ - so many people with the answers scoring so well, all in that tiny little study group office.

Spiro georgas is the absolute worst. Ballauer is a good guy. Rashan is pretty decent also. Wiser will be back in the D Unit but it's because he should be because he knows his stuff. De larorre from 009 also a good guy and will make a good Lt. Mr handsome from 025 is also a good pick for Lt. Some good names on this list.

Don't forget another NOBLE grad WINES (189). She's been HIDDEN as the training sgt for awhile now. It's much safer INSIDE doing zero. Where will this street smart LT. Be assigned??????

HOW HARD can it be when all you have to do is remember the AMSWERS?!?#*#

This goof gets to sit inside an office all day without any WORK and her only responsibility is to make sure the 24 hr desk is staffed by people and Sgts ( who rotate as the Unit DSS).

This person is a PRIME example of someone who should not be a BOSS. NEVER EVER. She's not done anything worthy in her PROTECTED ASS CAREER to deserve anything.

Good riddance you F'n CHEATER!

And yet good Sergeants are stuck where they are due to not being "chosen". Granted there are a couple of good guys on there, wish them all the best, but most on this list never knew how to be a Sergeant let alone lead them.

Baby Jack, or better yet, he who was found "not credible" at 26th St during his 011 tact days. This kid should be great as a Lt. for the period or two that he's back in patrol. Nice guy, but no balls and scared of his own shadow. Don't look for him to take care of the guys the way he was in 011. Did a rough stint as a Sgt a little south before Smilin' Jack had his baby hooked up in a do nothing unit spot. Who says Irish clout is dead?

Will IAD lieutenants start demanding ISR's and other nonsense, then have said reports rejected and sent to the ACLU? One's best course may be to stay fetal around specific individuals. To the deserving, congrats!

Realistically they are. Sure they get told to pick someone's squeeze or relatives, but the bosses get to hand pick the officers that work for them for the most part. They aren't picking the ones that should never have gotten on the job and they are not picking the average Joe. They try to pick someone that can do the job.

Calderon still getting taken care of. Detailed to 116 so he could stay on Caluris' ass.. this guy hasn't seen a district in probably at least 15 years, never a bad job. Narcotics, dea task force, gets sent down to Texas for polygraph training, back to narcotics, then detailed to CPIC, and now merit Lt. Some people just have all the luck (haha) I guess. And now he will be in charge of a watch in the patrol division, being in charge. Won't be for long though, Gill always will be kissing the ass of someone.

Only the best and brightest there! Come on this bullshit has been going on for years is anyone really surprised? As the lying hillary said about the murdered heroes in Benghazi "what difference does it make?" Get used to it, if you don't like it better find another line of work. Was at city hall recently with my brother had lunch with mayors staff member I raised the subject about abolishing residency the reply "That has been tried many times will not happen" which is true look into it. So again if your not ready to raise your family in Chicago better instead of raising blood pressure and jeopardizing health find another department. We need to focus on our health care and most importantly funding our pensions that should be a priority!

Early voting started get out and vote, go with your conscience, the best person the only pro-police candidate is Trump, look at how long the early voter lines are! So many finally realizing Trump is the only hope to change America and for law and order!!

This just shows me how people will bash anybody on this department. Jack is a great guy. He probably spent almost 10 years in 11 and was a hard-working guy. When you say he is scared of his own shadow I'm sure what you mean is that he wouldn't hold your slip every time you took off which was probably all the time. Congratulations Jack. Your promotion is well earned.

Yeah all I have to hear are the last names. Another generation of Boss's have had their parents great leadership genes passed on to them and Darwin had done his thing again. Which is kinda funny cause Daddy, or Mommy, were/are stupid as bat shit to begin with. And then you have the IAD F-troop who spent their time in IAD losing files and doing favors for the rich and powerful while stepping on assholes like us.

Boy looking back what a Loon I was all those years running around like Batman fighting crime and never taking a dime. You young guys and gals learn from Dummies like me, maybe I can accomplish that at least.

Be honorable and help the citizens when you can but the pro-active shit? I could count on a few fingers how many Ive seen promoted due to good Police work even tho everyfuckingone of them think thats why they were promoted.

And the perennial heavy that never misses a unit or promo Ballauer and several others hired to go up. It must be nice to know your ticket is punched when you come on the job, that busting your hump in patrol is the best you'll ever do when while watching the chosen few continue up the ladder.

I can recall being called into a DC's office for an interview for a tact position, first thing he says is he doesn't want any phone calls, the code for who is your clout. I didn't have any so back to the beat car I went while all 3 spots were filled by the preordained. So what it didn't stop me from doing my job it was a first hand experience in the way spots are filled or were in the pre merit days.

I saved my letter of merit recommendation for Det' as another example of how futile it is to be a worker while the DC's bitch get's made merit while jumping everyone's paper. But it didn't stop me from testing well enough to get promoted just had to wait while they promoted the lap dancers or coffee the go-for's. Nothing changes but the calendar and your age. Be safe and work for yourself and the satisfaction that you are the Police

10/26/2016 12:40:00 AM

Oh?

Smilin' Jack had a KID on the job?

Nice...

When Smilin' Jack shook your hand,
you had to ask a friend if their was a knife
sticking from between your shoulder blades...

This "Rank by Birthright" nonsense
needs to stop.

So too does
"Rank by Injection/Ingestion/Gestation."

It's corrosive.
It's demoralizing.
It breeds incompetence.
It breeds entitlement.
It breeds a particular kind
of grating arrogance.

It breeds cliques.

It fosters disunity throughout
the organization.

As one not-so-bad clouted boss
told a wretched clouted boss:

"I KNOW how YOU managed to get promoted
but I just can't wrap my head around how
in hell did you manage to get on the job."

For the lieutenant's who have had some
modicum of upright home training?

Congrats and good luck.
Be right.
Do right.

Everyone cheats now. It's become bigger every test. As long as these tests are accessible to bosses or others within the dept there will always be people helping friends or special workers to get ahead of the masses. The regular cop is being given less and less opportunity to get an honest promotion without having to know the right person. This is only one of the many reasons why people are losing faith in a once proud department. Not only are they stealing spots on promotional lists but thy are also filling the ranks up with their merit picks. The upper positions on the job are being filled with more and more "connected " people. We are losing the battle and this job will forever be changed.

Good luck and stay safe.

From time to time I read the blog and usually laugh or it brings up a topic to talk about with other guys on the watch. But I usually never submit my own comment. I feel that someone needs to say something about Spiro Georgas who actually knows him. I have worked for the guy for a couple years. I heard so many haters talk shit about his personality and lack of leadership. Of course, like so many rumors, the moment you actually get to know the person, you find out how wrong and baseless the rumors turn out to be. I know SG to be an honest and upfront guy who is not afraid to have an opinion, fight for you when your right, and not give two shits about making you happy when what he really is trying to do is to enforce what is right. Stand up guy. Make up your mind when you meet him. You'll see. Good luck and congrats SG, this Dept is a little better off. Now, for all the haters, continue on with the baseless bashing of someone you don't know. I'll read along and laugh and continue to be entertained.

How in the world can she work the street as a Lt.

Boy those IAD & HQ people sure are smart!

10/26/2016 03:16:00 AM

Realistically they are. Sure they get told to pick someone's squeeze or relatives, but the bosses get to hand pick the officers that work for them for the most part. They aren't picking the ones that should never have gotten on the job and they are not picking the average Joe. They try to pick someone that can do the job.

10/26/2016 07:03:00 AM

Realistically they are.......Give me a break. If they so outstanding why don't they end up in a busy district showing their great policing and leadership skills? Show us how it is done. The clouted merit will go right back to a spot or slow district on days and those who did well on the test well go back to the trenches on mid-nights.

Spiro is a nice guy but don't be a bit mistaken, he was a merit Sgt, and afraid of his shadow, best known in 010 for terminating a foot chase . He has never had a bad spot and now he makes merit Lt. as the tac Sgt at Ohare. Fredo will be a brutal micro manager the few periods he's in a district until he hits his next unit.

I agree, Curt held officers accountable, unfortunately officers have grown accustom to doing whatever they want. He didn't play favorites and took a lot of heat for doing his job as a supervisor.

Spiro aint a bad guy. His knees knock together a little to much but shit, this is 2016. At least you could count on him and his Tac team to show up and back you if it came to that at 050 and we do occasionally get assholes at the airport.

At least he "gets it" that its a major INTL Airport and maybe you should keep your head up and look around from time to time. If he lands with you you could do worse believe me. As for you chocked by this entire clout/cheating thing maybe you should have grabbed Alice's ass when she went down that rabbit hole.

Not to mention she's good friends with HALL, FENNER, and WARD. EJ is gone and still has his filthy paws in the departments promotions process. What a joke.
By the way this is his THIRD merit promotion Det, Sgt. Lt.
Wines was in that study group that cheated

Trina Wines is best friends with AW wife. They both took the notes from the NOBLE study group held at HQ recently. She is also the SAME person who has NEVER worked the street in ANY CAPACITY (PO SGT ETC)

She may not be a NOBLE person BUT I highly doubt it. So Trina, go back to doING ZERO, like you continue to do as a sgt assigned to 189, and leave the work to others.

I'm not sure how a person's success on a promotional exam has anything to do with a family member's past.
They are mutually exclusive events which means one has nothing to do with the other.

About to be, Lieutenant James Ballauer, studied every day for months leading up to that test. I know this because I studied with him.

So, whichever one of you cowardly trolls keeps mouting off, man up and have a face to face conversation with the soon to be Lieutenant.
Otherwise shut the fuck up, and give the man his due!
