- A thousand more people have been shot in Chicago this year compared with the same time last year after a weekend that saw eight people killed and at least 40 wounded, according to police and data compiled by the Tribune.
At least 3,475 people had been shot in the city as of shortly after midnight Monday compared with 2,441 people shot this time last year, an increase of 1,034, according to Tribune data. There have been at least 595 homicides this year compared with 409 this time last year, an increase of 186.
The gun violence over the weekend was at levels usually seen in the summer when shootings typically spike.
So...is Rahm putting Special Ed on the chopping block? He needs someone to blame for the increase in the increase.

Great record to run on blaming others for your mistakes. But that is what Daley did and Rahm will do also. But hey, it was the low information voters of Chicago - rich, not so rich and poor - who put Rahm in office in the first place and who have kept him there; they have themselves to blame. For some reason my partner and I actually felt compelled to do some sort of police work last night.
There was a M/1 and M/2 walking back and forth in an alley in a hurried manner. (as if they were about to commit a crime or had committed a crime). The M/1 split away from the M/2. But the M/1 drew our attention more because he was carrying a bag, continued looking around and was still walking quickly. While the M/2 walked slowly away as if not a care in the world.
We stopped the M/1, could see dope on his nose. Asked, "how many blows you got?"
He turned around and ran. We laughed. And waved.
Maybe a few years ago, or even months, it would have been a fun and easy chase. But not anymore. Thanks Obama!

Somebody needs to start a marksmanship training program in the ghetto. Teach them how to shoot so at least the bangers get cleanly killed instead of costing society a fortune in patch up medical bills. Here in rural hunting country we'd be embarrassed to miss that badly and that often when aiming at game that big.
Just think how quickly crime would dry up if those 3500 or so shot had all died. It would be a self correcting problem in a handful of years.
It's rahm's policy of doing more with less. You have gangbangers killing gangbangers, thining the herds. So, all you need is a few Police to deal with the carnage and save some money. The gangs wouldn't vote for him anyway... what could possibly go wrong with such a well thought out fiscaly responsible plan? ;)
