COPA Update
- Q: Who, or what, most impacts how you do your job?
A: Like many agencies, IPRA was constrained by many things: laws, fiscal appropriations, etc. But perhaps the least recognized yet most impactful factor is the police union’s collective bargaining agreement. Those agreements impact how we are able to investigate weapons discharges and allegations of misconduct. The union’s bargaining agreements impact when we’re able to talk to officers after incidents, how long the police department has to respond after a finding is made, the appeals process and the disciplinary process.
This is from a 20-something so-called "prison abolitionist," someone who has (and will continue) to put the rights of criminals over those of the police officer. Remember, these are agreements in place to protect our Rights because the city consistently played fast and loose with the Civil Rights of police officers. It actually had to be put in writing to remind the City that cops were still citizens with actual Rights.
These tools over at COPA are going to be sitting right next to the City lawyers at the next Contract negotiations attempting to undercut every single protection we have. The FOP better be on its toes.

Replace Dean Sr., Casiano and Bella.
Run Blago Run. Blago made a smart move appearing on the Apprentice. He will be let out soon and run for Mayor.
He's young and he's queer
So that makes him qualified?
Uh guys? You know those Miranda Rights you have to remind the thugs about?
They are A VERY, VERY GOOD IDEA! Use them if you ever talk to anyone from COPA or the DOJ.
The fop is bought and paid for . .....we are truly fucked .
Here's to all you fucking numb nut tough guy dumb shit coppers, keep chasing the fucking pack, keep chasing those cars, keep making those proactive arrests.
Nothing bad can happen nowadays, right? Fuck you
Might as well have a plumber and a mechanic sit on committee telling police what they should or should not do.
Has got to be another Extreme Left political movement funded supported by Rahm & Hillary's cabal with their goal of destroying policing across the US.
Attended a hearing:
It was a pleasurable experience watch the fucks from Copa being bused into City Of Chicago sponsored public hearings on police accountability with 5-8 Alderman in attendance.
These just above bust outs would arrived in mass wearing Pro- COPA T-shirts and took over the speaking portions of these hearings, completely staged and not even from the areas where the meetings were held. They even had two or three plants in audience in civilian clothes tell some b.s. statement then give their support to the members of COPA. This took place while a STENOGRAPHER typed away to make it look legit in the future, like genuine citizens wanted COPA, All Lies. A total sham of democracy stage & paid for, created to imply false sense of Transparency. Stalin could not have done it better.
All the COPA people looked like a mixed bag of old 60's bustout Radicals from Uptown. They (RAHM) have completely falsified this process it was a total lie. It looks like an Acorn operation. I had chills while I watch this I couldn't believe I was in America. These hearings were completely staged and controlled by the Rahm to produce the outcome he wanted. I shit you not.............................
ATTENTION:
FOP RESEARCH THIS -RAHM IS GOING TO USE THESE 100% RIGGED EVENTS TO GO AFTER OUR CONTRACT IT WAS A TOTAL SHAM HEARING READ THE TRANSCRIPTS.
August 4: Public hearing at South Shore Cultural Center, hosted by Alderman Willie Cochran and Alderman Leslie Hairston. August 9: Public hearing at Senn High School, hosted by Alderman Joe Moore and Alderman Harry Osterman. August 11: Public hearing at Little Village Lawndale High School, hosted by Alderman Ricardo Munoz and Alderman George Cardenas.
August 16: Public hearing at Westinghouse College Prep, hosted by Alderman Emma Mitts and Alderman Jason Ervin. August 22: Public hearing at North Grand High School, hosted by Alderman John Arena and Alderman Ariel Reboyras
I don't know how else to reach you. Anyway, next time you have something to say about IPRA aka COPA you should take a look at this load of shit someone pointed me to the other day: http://www.chicagobusiness.com/section/20s-profile?recipient=Lewis Looks like Fairley is stocking up IPRA with "prison abolitionists." So we've got people who want to let all the bad guys out of prison investigating us? WT
How could our constitutional and civil rights be disregarded? The criminals have every right in the world. Everyone wants their rights protected but ours do not matter? Whoever feels this way is a fucking useless idiot who deserves to be the next victim.
Boys and girls this will be the worst contract ever, DOJ, COPA, city hall, media, our only hope is the arbitrator won't cave in to these assholes. We know there will be changes but these fuckers want us to have no protection, Fuck that. FOP better not be pussies
These are going to be some very, very contentious contract negotiations. I'm sure Rahm will also give J'Amal Green and others from "the community" a seat at the negotiating table too.
I have very little faith in the current FOP "leadership". They should be hiring as much outside help as possible for these contentious contract negotiations.
Maybe it's time for a no confidence vote. I'd say we should picket, but these liberal assholes would bate us in to a fight by throwing things at us.
copa cabana = 1000+ homicides... enjoy dumbasses
in your face!how many professionals will allow another person stand chest to chest in your face, without consequences!
BEWARE
The FOP has a board with a majority of retirees.
The City would dangle a few insurance bumps for retirees if they give in on contract protection related to police shootings investigations.
If you even think a retiree cares about a working officers right during interrogation you are soft.
this election will be very important show up to the meetings and run for office (if you care).
Anyone else hearing the rumor that the city will actually offer a substantial raise next contract, and in exchange the membership will give up discipline? After how the retirees and dinosaurs threw the young guys under the bus last contract, I wouldn't be surprised to find enough short-sighted coppers to vote for something like that.
Have no fear. Deano will protect us.
Get ready for over 1000 dead hood rats next year, Rahmie😊

Yeah, those no confidence votes are truly terrifying.
Jamal Green should be in jail now. What ever happened to his. Court cases? Did Rahm and "Dumb Eddie" find a democratic appointed judge to let him go?
If you can't see it now you never will. Just look at the Illinois map by county and then look at the U.S. map and you will realize that Cook,Will,Lake and Dupage are pretty much a Blue island in a sea of RED and the home of socialist, marxist domestic terrorist. It should come as no surprise that these anarchist are hell bent on destroying the law of the land and living by the law of the jungle. Not a good environment to be the police in or a law abiding citizen, for that matter. The police and victims of crime are vilified and the savage criminals are put on pedestals as myrtars. Truely a disgusting hellhole to live in let alone police in.
It is very simple. The fop contract doesn't constrain any investigation. The united states constitution does! If the fop bargains away any constitutionally protected rights, it will put the officer below the arrestee in terms of his rights under law. How could the fop membership accept that?

HAHAHAHA! Yeah cause that works
Maybe the CoPa didn't get the memo that Law and Order is coming back in fashion in Jan 2017.
Although nothing can construe that it will be open season on the thug element, but it will be a tough nut to have a DOJ catering to these liberal eyed groups. Prisons are going to be open again and light pansy assed sentencing will be gone.
(Anyone notice the private prison stocks took a nice rise in the markets after the HIS-toric Election?)
Rahm Emanuel is going to have a tough time pandering when he finds no Govmint sanctuary funding, no DOJ belly rubs and routine protests to deal with as his "electoral base" starts getting hammered and out of control.
But on n the contrary, this is Rahm's town and we suffer under his tyranny.
So it's better if we just remain as 'Security Monitors' and report the crime rather than get jammed up with his home-rule consequences.
Stay Fetal for now,
until Rahm Emanuel and Peeny a'Ounce PrickWrinkles are gone from Chicago.

Miranda does not apply to administrative employment cases. You must be given your administrative rights which are now likely to change. Yes, it will be a hard fought contract and most likely end up in arbitration. No telling what will happen but I really don't think the city will get its way in all of this without giving back a whole lot. Maybe residency might go away.
The F.O.P. needs to push for the same provision N.Y.P.D. has that your pension is based on your best 3 years of salary.
Think about this on the good side Trump has 4,000 positions to fill, (bet barrys people are all fired which would be great), appointing the best, hope we have someone over seeing copa and the rest of the bullshit pandering and lies catering to the thugs so they can stop this immediately!
On another note if you think for a minute upsetting trump on national news by removing a sign in a childish temper tantrum, was a good idea think again! Bad move mayor and the 50! Time now to examine thoroughly elected county and Chicago officials before the state house! Many here criticize Ed Burke, let me say this when Trump was here speaking i think at city club Ed was sitting up front, and talked to trump and he also helped with some law issues for the Trump organization, if we have any hope of communication it will be through Eddie Burke who has survived so much. Ed Burke no matter what you think he knows the game is played and plays well!!
SCC - 1) The only way we will have a competent contract negotiating team is to GET RID OF DEAN ANGELO!! Candidates who want to run against him should be completely familiar with the contract and should look at other major cities police contracts for fresh ideas. Young officers should also get involved since they will be effected far longer than us retirees. Time to stop bitching and get involved with our union or Deano will once again sell us out.
2) The city will rely more on the COPA hearings since the DOJ report will probably take another direction, like the Lie-tenants exam, with the Trump administration. Incompetent supervisors contribute to the current climate of corruption. You'd think that Rahm would see the writing on the wall but he still wants to hamstring the CPD. Let's hope that Zachary Hardon is quickly replaced as the US Atty. For N. IL.
Retired .38 spl +P
We better get double digit pay raises like CPS teachers got!
But COPA, IPRA or whatever they are calling it today, can never cite what part of the contract is impacting their investigations. Why? Selling themselves as victims to the public without saying the officers have rights to due process.
Does anyone else have the feeling that all the anti-cop agitation these past couple of years was all just a play to get liberals to turn against public employee unions?
Attn: 6:36AM,
You, sir/madam are the reason the word ASSHOLE was coined.

????????????
Are you a goof or what? There is NO retiree health care after the first of the year for any retiree over 65. The next court case is in February.
I come from a cop family so have filled out the "Compliment an Officer" online form a few times when I think an officer has gone above and beyond.
For the first time ever, I got an acknowledgement of doing so signed by Fairley. It said she was going to make the Supt. aware of the officers' actions. I'm no fan of IPRA COPA, but after never knowing what happened to the form, it was nice to know I wasn't wasting my time and the good work would be noted.
This shit hole State of Illinois should be split into two States at Interstate 80!
Southern Illinois with a new flag! The Northern part can keep the Current State Flag!
A: Like many agencies, IPRA was constrained by many things: laws,
Goof ball lost me here.

Agreed with Trump team using federal oversight of that bullshit get the police organization! How many overpaid hacks will the beleaguered taxpayers be forced to pay for? The part about Eddie Burke he knows how to play both sides but hope it was not involved removing Trumps sign. Trump never forgets disparaging his name!
The Democrats have painted themselves into a corner in Chicago as well as the rest of this nation and are standing together naked for all to see who the really are, who they support and how radical and treasonist they really are. Here in Chicago the dumb democratic voters don't realize that their democratic heros from Chicago all the way to DC can't even provide the most basic public service of preserving life. Chicago has 2.7 million people while New York and LA have a combined 12.4 million and Chicago has not only surpassed the homicide totals of these 2 cities combined but is at alnost at 150% more homicides despite having 75% fewer citizens. Since when are political leaders supported or praised when they are responsible for numbers like these. These people would not be supported in a war torn third world country let alone in what they refer to of one of the best big cities in the United States. The time is here to elect a Republican Mayor. I would personally work for 41st Ward Alderman Anthony Napalitano. Anyone else with me.
Just remember we live in the BLUE ZONE.
BLUE ZONE
Where Police and victims of violent crime are vilified and criminals are heros.
Where Federal Laws are violated but Federal Aid still keeps pouring in.
Where Illegals are taken care of for violating the law better than the tax paying veterans who have made enormous sacrifices for our country.
Where democrat progressives are regressing us back to the dark ages.
Where the results of an election you disagree with gives you the right to loot, burn and destroy property without consequence.
Where every encounter you initiate with the police gives you another chance to win the Chicago Lottery.
Where every entitlement to people who refuse to work are more important than the pensions of those who have protected our city.
Where whites are racist but everyone else can't be racist no matter how egregious.
Where Illegals on the dole are praised and protected more than those who have legally gained citizenship and provide for themselves.
It's hard to believe that this city was once a proud working class city who's citizens would not tolerate murder and mayhem. We are now reduced to tolerating savage violence and lawlessness in an effort to appease the very people who keep electing our deplorable politicians of this city. This is a social experiment that has to come to an end. The nation has spoke and it's now time for the law and order candidate to be elected in Chicago to Restore the Peace, civility and common sense that once was common place in our city.
if that punk protestor is out on bond
breaking laws by inciting riots , battery to police officers , citizens , damaging cta buses , blocking LSD , Michigan avenue / lock mhim up or make him hide in the shadows
who is the anonomius donor that posted a $50,000 bond for a person that committed agg battery and attempted to disarm a police officer come on FOP FOIA request
The rank and file have to approve the contract. No matter how much of a raise the city offers, DO NOT give up discipline. What good is a pay raise when the city can do anything on discipline. You will be taking a pay cut, assuming you still have a job.

Beware of anyone spouting this kind of nonsense.
I'm no expert but I thought that the FOP board is elected by the members.
Unfortunately I have heard these types of comments on more occasions than I
care to remember. The easiest thing that you can do is vote in the election.
You don't even have to leave the comfort of your home except to place the
ballot in the mail. Even with it being that simple the voter turn out for the
FOP elections are a miserable shame. The retired persons on the board are
working for your benefit, as well as the active members. If you don't agree
fine, cast a ballot, get involved, attend some meetings, run for office. If you
feel that you have been sold out by other officers or retired officers who are
actually putting in the work well we have no choice but to accept what the
politicians give us. If you are not smart enough to unite what do you think
will happen to your benefits or protections. I am not saying that the present
board is the best we could have but at least participate in the process, and don't
make statements that divide us. Remember that those retirees are the people
who fought for the right to have a labor contract so many years ago. If you
really believe what you wrote you are an absolute fool.
Who gives a shit about residency...I want my health insurance and pension secured. Priority number one. As promised. No reason to stay on this job without it.
