Rahm Lied About Numbers?
- Even if Mayor Rahm Emanuel manages to add nearly 1,000 cops in the next couple years, his promised surge of new hires would barely make up for the decline in the Chicago Police Department’s ranks on his watch.
There were 6,244 rank-and-file police officers working the city’s 22 police districts as of Oct. 19, records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times show. That’s down more than 800 from the 7,047 beat cops shortly after Emanuel took office in 2011.
A decade ago, overall police department staffing totaled more than 14,000, according to police pension fund documents. At the start of 2011, the year Emanuel won his first term, the department had 12,737 members. Now, that figure has fallen below 12,000.
They released this on a Friday afternoon so no one would notice, but we can say that this is the first time we've seen the number "14,000" in any format other than what we've written here on the blog.
When we came on, the overall number on the Department was 15,000. We have no idea what that encompassed - we weren't interested in anything aside from our next court dates and who was buying the next round. There may have been detention aides, civilian timekeepers, clerks, etc included in that number. But it was 15,000+ people listed in a phone book sized roster.
So once again, Rahm is lying about the Department numbers and what he expects to hire / promote. You know what number he isn't going to be able to lie about next year? 2017 homicide totals.

Don't forget how detectives citywide will soon dip down to the upper 700's at the start of next year (from a grand total of 850 now). A population of 2.5 million people and only 700 plus detectives to investigate crime. No wonder nothing gets solved and Detectives are backlogged beyond belief. And they made such a big deal about rushing the Det. exam back in May and still NOBODY has been promoted.

It's a simple formula. Less cops=more homicides. He knows that. He doesn't care about the so-called victims. He's only disappointed that he can't keep the press from covering it.
what also amazes me is when the superintendent says the dept recovers 17.000 guns so far,80 % are turn inn''s for cash,,

When I came on our district had over 500 officers , now we are just over 300. And you ask why crime is out of control? Because apparently the money that went to salaries was diverted into pet projects and fat political salaries.
When I worked down at city hall sometime ago the city budget (which is a public record and on line) was 13,500 POLICE OFFICERS even Mayor Shortshanks who hated the Police kept the Patrolman numbers up he knew this was keeping crime down this has been for years and this number never included Sergeant's LT's Capt.'s and Exempts or any civilians workers in the Police Department. Rahm now includes everyone in the staffing number so you never really now how many Patrolmen are on the payroll since they are all lumped together. Any officer with 15 or more years knows what it was like with all the cars manned on all watches! In our contracts our pay have gone up 1% and some 2% only to be taken back by increase in benefits contributions so it can't be pay raises taking the money! Benefits NO Shifty Ed Burke says having BlueCross / BlueShield as the only provider is a god send and lowers rates (He should know his law firm represents BC /BS exclusively)! So the MILLION dollar question is where is all the money going? When ever they need extra bodies the overtime money is there and lasts for several months at a time! So again where is all the money going? Rahm's not even hiring or keeping up with P/o's retiring and it can't be their benefits because he just cut all retirees medical and dental and eye care off as of December 31 of this year! You will never see the 55 and out again with benefits! I won't be surprised if by June when our latest contract expires Rahm cuts off benefits for everyone in the 55 and out program who retired claiming NO money! The market is rebounding its been stuck for 8 years and in less than 1 month after the election the DOW is ready to hit 20,000 so it can't be that, Police and Fire has NOT seen a 3% or 4% raise in over 10 years remember them our budgets have been steadily the same with one exception for both Police and Fire he cutting manpower and diverting the money somewhere else!
No AA copper should be inside. They are needed on the street. After Van Dyke, no white officer has any legitimacy.

Someone should inform rham that it would behoove him to hire as many recruits as possible. Cause the new guys are the only ones ignorant enough to do proactive police work. You want more proacti e then hire police. Then hire det to solve what little homicides that can be solved. It aint rocket science
The dwindling number of coppers has NOTHING to do with the homicide rate. they just stripped all the manpower from the good neighborhoods and sent them to the bad neighborhoods. The bad neighborhoods have as many if not more manpower than ever.
Let's get this right oh Media who troll here: We are not the ones killing each other. Sure, it makes our neighborhood less safe and property crimes rise but it has nothing to do with the homicide rate. Other crime escalates as the super predator begins to hunt in the better neighborhoods but the homicide rate is unaffected!
The homicide rate has spiraled because you have emboldened the super predator by protecting them. The "Innocence Project" lies, the Black Lives Matter lies, the war on police pushed by the President of the United States no less has weakened law enforcement. You have told officers in so many ways it is unsafe for them to do their job. Not just their physical safety, but their financial safety.
Once police get used to sitting on their heels, it will be difficult to get them to work again. Good luck Chicago, you have a lot of work to do getting rid of the politicians who put you in the is situation.

Right and at same time CTU has gotten two raises that pissed all over ours. Dean still ain't saying shit. Being that Im a sgt i will say that Ade sucks too. We need to have a highly paid outside consultant, not these fucking retards who are looking to grease their own pocket. Take some fucking guy pay his 200-300k a year, enough to keep the city out of his pocket, and tell him his only job is to take as much as the city can give and then take 5% more.

This reminds me of a pretty good joke I heard John Mellencamp tell years ago (about George W. Bush), but the fundamentals still apply as time goes by . . .

I read the story. But what I love is that the ACLU does not bother to say anything about the amount of calls or the crime stats in areas that are taking longer to respond to. The ACLU also states the amount of calls on hold are longer in certian area. But again they never state the amount of calls in the area. Why dont they state all the facts in their reports?

We never had 13500 PO's. We were 13500 total sworn members before JFed and all the specialized units were formed by stealing personnel from district law enforcement.

So much bloodshed, even look at expressways how many so far well over 60 shot there! so many people shot like animals and what does rahm and the 50 do? nothing but come out supporting the illegal criminals that trump wants gone,this just emboldens all the rest citizens or not!
When i came to 008 in 1986 we had over 300 coppers, 3 wagons up every watch 871-72-73 2 806 cars, 2-3 traffic cars, 5 sector cars and 2 rapid cars plus a sergeant per sector which is 8 cars per sector, tactical team plus a mission team of 10 coppers, plus foot teams, 2 lieutenants a desk sergeant, 3 in lockup just for starters. But this was long ago and far away when you respected the bosses who made sure you got the time off requested, and really had your back unlike the destruction that has been put upon coppers today directly by the mayor and all the way to the white house!
I remember working tact sometimes riding 3-4 deep, then we had gangs south, flooding the areas and so many other outside units! Now how many? rahm keeps lying and people some innocent keep dying!

Right now there is some one who lost a loved one by a shooting death asking what the fuck! Mayor Rham is the best mayor ever.Fuck him. Him and Hillary would have made it worse to the point of no return.

I was there in 008 then also, but you look at 007 and they seem to have as many coppers as they always have had guess the elected in 008 and the commander are to weak to get more coppers! Commander "inspector gadget" what has he done lately?

I've got one of those phonebook sized rosters I was printed on tractor printing paper. It contained the alphabetical listing of everyone on the department, plus star number, sex, race, employee number, DOB, home address, title code and Social Security Number. What a find that would be if it was up to date for people that would wish us harm.
There was a pile of these books five foot high on the back loading dock of HQ at 11th and State sometime in '74 or so when I worked there. I thought it might be handy someday so I took one. I still have it and I will send SCC a photo by email when I get back to Chicago.

In 1986 we had at least 300K more people, every housing project was up and running, the cook county jails were over capacity and there was a line on the 6th floor to sign into court at 26th st. The clearance rate for violent crime was over 60% and property crime clearance rates were over 40%. And like today the savage did not respect the police but back then he feared the police.
Eisenhower Expressway is now affectionately renamed Tombstone Turnpike? Chicago Express Killway? Harrison / Austin Blood Spillway? The Twilight Turnpike?

The clearance rate for violent crime was over 60% and property crime clearance rates were over 40%. And like today the savage did not respect the police but back then he feared the police.
