Assaults on CPD Way Up
- Chicago police officers faced multiple attacks in 2016, one of the most violent years in the city’s history.
Thirty-one officers were shot at in 2016, a 82 percent increase over 2015 numbers, the Chicago Police Department told The Daily Caller News Foundation. Only 17 officers were shot at in 2015.
Nine officers reported gun-shot wounds in 2016, the CPD told The DCNF, but zero died as a result.
“These emboldened criminals are responsible for destroying families and communities as well as dozens of attacks on Chicago police officers in 2016,” Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said at a press conference.

It will be interesting to see what the new administration in general does with consent decrees. If Chicago does enter a consent decree, there is hope that it could be focused on FORCING the city to provide proper training, equipment, and supervision, as well as a "legitimate" promotional process ( a function of proper supervision). In other words, pattern the decree on SCC's 8 critical problem points. As long as it isnt heavy on the "social justice" witch hunt BS on the individual officers, there could be strong benefit. This could actually back fire on the midget, with his rush to sign on to an agreement to reach an agreement. It all hinges on how much the new administration values the police, and whether the right advocates are allowed to intervene and participate in the drafting. Let this be a call to action for an active seat at the table, it might just work.

What activists believe they know without a shadow of a doubt, in fact, lacks any grounding in the expert literature. Even if at some future date their beliefs acquire sound footing, at this point in time they are in fact but phantoms of the mind.

It took many years of under reporting crimes against Police for the FBI to install IUCR codes for Agg Battery of the Police in it's various forms, hands/fists; knife etc; handgun etc.
Working in an Area "D" unit I got into a heated screaming match when a Sgt from another area who called and asked if we used the Agg' Battery of the Police for every incident. I screamed "hell yes" look how long it took for us to recognized as Felony Victims, ie indexed crime. It went right up to the Area Cmmdr and I sat down with him and explained that "we deserved to recognized as victims", not be hidden in the "stats" to keep the "numbers" down. I also told him in my career I had fought with felony arrestees and been shot at on several reported incidents.
If I had to risk my life to do my job then report it correctly.
We are second class Citizens when it comes to reporting incidents of violent crimes against us and our own supervision tries to diminish our worth as a victim.
Go back to the 70's thru 90's and many lazy or drunk bosses didn't want battery of the Police or a resistor and have to do a "package" on onion skin yellow paper, 7 pages with carbon. You have little idea of what a pain in the ass things were like before the computer and recent forms.

The investigation was into the CPD, not the community.
I'm not saying I think it was a fair investigation or even a necessary investigation, but it was never meant to address social failure in the communities.

I've got a simple solution to the perceived racism that supposedly exist in Chicago. Lets redistribute police man power based on the per capita density of each and every police district. That means that even though the citizens of certain police districts in the city contribute significantly more to the tax base in the way of property tax the police manpower will be distributed on a per capita basis so policing is fair and equitable for everyone. This will then show the true story of law abiding the citizens of each police district truly are. I don't think Toni or Tommy would have a problem with this. Let's show the world how the democrats have created the monster here in Chicagos sanctuary city and have no idea how to tame the beast. The police are the problem.

I went over to the FOP website, just to see what it had to say about the DOJ report. Call me a grammar nazi, but, who's writing this stuff? The first paragraph has a spelling error. The word is "lightning", as in, a sudden electrostatic discharge that occurs during a storm. "Lightning fast", is used to describe something that occurs incredibly fast, like the completion of this sham of an investigation. The website has the first paragraph with "lightning" spelled "lightening", a word that you'd use to describe lessening something by weight, pressure, or severity.

So if Cherie keeps stealing and will claim she has an illness, how can she be trusted around a crime scene going inside of a victims home or around inventoried property, she really needs to go, I know her personally and she really has never done any police work. She used to leave the city with a police unmarked car and shop, then when she did get a job she would bat her eyes and someone e l se has to take the job. She must treat her bosses real good.
The political forces do not care about cheating on promotion tests, rigged promotions, political influence, etc. All they care about is adding more minorities to the department, no matter how that is done. Don't forget the federal judge approved the merit system. A former federal judge said he does not care if they arm wrestle to determine promotions. I don't think they realize how much this corrupt system effects morale which effects performance, and I don't think they care. Then Father Faker comes out and makes a public statement that non-performing police officers should quit.

Handful? There's nearly 150 gold star retirees collecting 100k pensions and the list keeps growing, you can include all current and future Captains to that list. So do the math.

It took many years of under reporting crimes against Police for the FBI to install IUCR codes for Agg Battery of the Police in it's various forms, hands/fists; knife etc; handgun etc.

Thank you for your service and advocacy. Like other officers, I have had minor injuries and haven't often asked for aggbat to PO. The few times I have they went no where in court and even had a detective chastise me for an "owee." I was shocked - I had to have stitches and my finger swelled up and was fractured. I have permanent shoulder damage that I never sought care for or charged with battery to PO for and was even sued by the offender after I responded with force. People act like it's normal to attack police. Let an offender attack a judge and see how the law will reign down on them but us, it's just part of the job. Nonsense

The investigation was into the CPD, not the community.

That is ridiculous thought fire and police had parity? fire ended the gold braid bill ripoff long ago the highest pension is civil service grade of lyingtenant, Lappe, hauser chime in: crickets!!

In this day and age, it's all about self preservation. First and foremost, we need to have each others backs. We need to just do the basics on the streets, until if/when the horrible anti Police rhetoric ends. Many of us hope that the tide will slowly turn when President Trump takes office. I feel that officers that are still very aggressive and proactive will eventually get themselves jammed up. Who actually has our backs anymore? The shitbags are emboldened and our hands are tied. Our department wants us to be politically correct dainty flowers. Obviously that isn't working very well. Ram, Father Phlugy and the D.O.J. have the Police department they want now, homicide rate be damned. Buckle up boys and girls, enjoy the ride. It's utter bullshit that we don't take care of our own first, report the crime correctly, follow up with proper investigation and charges, and that is not only for on duty incidents but includes crimes against property at home or car, PO's property, Firefighters property and decent law abiding city worker or citizen.
This bullshit CDTP when your garage service door is kicked in instead of attempt burglary when your property inside is disturbed or ransacked, just to save numbers.
Fuck their numbers, this is why our numbers (manpower) is down, less crime less Cops and as matter of fact I told the guy that lost the last election this about 8 or 9 years ago when he was out glad handing a contract.
We are our own worst enemy in many respects.
