DC Trip Info
Once again...:
- SCC,
Last year we lost 140 law enforcement officers in line of duty deaths. Especially troubling was the fact that all of these officers on average each left behind two children.
This year will mark my 15th year in a row attending the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial during 'Police Week' in Washington DC to 'Honor Our Fallen.'
For over a decade I've put together our annual updated Chicago Police / NLEOM Information Guide to promote attendance and provide detailed information to our members, especially first-timers.
As in the past, I again respectfully request consideration for yet another Memorial topic on SCC this year that includes posting of the attached (2017) PDF file. Any help again this year would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all you do on our behalf.
Respectfully,
'Sgt. Al'
(Piantkowski)
(CPD ret.)

Trump will be there, Unlike piece of Shit Obama Who rarely attended it, Because golf balls matter.
Sgt. Al, Thank you for your commitment to our fallen brothers/sisters in blue. We should NEVER forget their sacrifice to this honorable profession.
SCC: Thank you for your assistance in this post. The service you provide is invaluable.
Mac.
Thanks for the post SCC. Also 'Thank You' to those members that have attended the DC Memorial on their own time and funds over these many years. It is important that we support 'all' our local memorial events on behalf of our fallen members such as, St. Jude March, (never forget the REAL reason why we're there)Chicago Police Honor Guard 24 hr. Vigil at Gold Star Memorial and Park, Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Candlelight Vigil in addition to our Springfield IL and DC memorials. Thanks also to the Brotherhood of the Fallen who represent us at all the outside agency funerals of law enforcement members killed in the line of duty throughout the nation. It's important that we continue to remember and support our fallen members whether in person, in spirit or in prayer. God Bless all our fellow first responders. Stay safe.
It's nice having a president who likes us again.
No one ever thinks how life would be without the men and women of law enforcement. Chaos would rule. The elderly and very young would be prey. Most people wouldn't know the meaning of "Safe at home".
Its a tough job with little reward and it takes a special type of person to do it.
Thank You,
Stay safe Officers.
J.J.
Al, you revealed your humanity in many rides to O'brien Street back in '68. Glad to see you are still the Man!
Jp.
Should be a great turnout and respectful affair.
Finally, we have proper Support from The White House.
Make Law Enforcement Great Again.
Good post.
It is definitely something EVERY LEO should attend at least once in their career! There is nothing that compares to the magnitude of the Candlelight Vigil. Another event that coincides with that is the Top Cop award ceremony. To see and hear the stories of the bravery and heroism is incredible!
Well guys I am on my way out the door-- going to school in May to become a physicians assistant.... This job was great at one point, some great guys on the job
Many thanks to the retired Sgt !!
Great job! I also like the other link you have to the complete merit promotion list for CPD. It really gave me a laugh especially the double merit people on that list.
#1 killer of cops? TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS!
(buckle up!)
