Nice Jail You Got There Dart
- Despite efforts to get ahead of the issue, a large number of guards at the Cook County jail again called in sick on Super Bowl Sunday.
Cook County Sheriff’s Chief Policy Officer Cara Smith said 109 guards called in sick for the morning shift, and another 130 called in sick for the second shift.
That’s four more sick calls than 2016, and accounts for about 19 percent of the staff assigned for the day.
Knowing that the Super Bowl tends to bring out sick calls, the sheriff’s office asked 70 employees who were not assigned to work on Sunday to work in case of a sick-out. They also called some 300 guards who have called in sick during the Super Bowl in the last four years. That helped reduce the cost and need for other replacements.
But the jail is empty, right? There's no one there to guard. Dart is having three Divisions torn down.

News radio says that fully 90% of the staff has "Federally protected medical problems."

Tearing down divisions while we hear more and more stories about Plans being called there, multiple ambulances after the latest crew that runs the place goes wild again...and again. Huge fights, ofc. assaulted with bodily fluids, &c.
Seems like we're boiling it down to the very, very worst...is this to be taken as some weird indicator of "success?"

The county needs to get with the times. Give the officers rotating days off so you can get a weekend every 4, 5, or 6 weeks, however they decide to work it out. When your stuck with Tuesday, Wednesday day off group for a couple of years what do you think is going to happen an weekends. Especially on holiday or major event weekends.

On a Separate Point: How many of you have gone over Rahm's Speech at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business? Rahm gave the speech the other day, while in California to visit his brother one of the owners of Uber. The Calculating Political Scum that Rahm really is comes out when he is out of town. Not that it matters, because we have no Independent Press here. The article is very interesting, because it shows Rahm is all about POWER and he makes it clear that you cannot retain Power until and unless you win. There was no mention of "The Children", homicide rates or the hundreds of Immigrant Muslim cab drivers put out of work by Ari and Uber. The restrictions on cabs are tremendous, while there are virtually none on Uber. Rahm also boasted on how he has never lost an election! Hopefully, we can change that soon. It may sound like the kind of bogus claim made on late-night infomercials, but trust me when I say it's true: Dart should stop bellyaching and start healing himself. For starters, the other day I surveyed the first few people I met. Only one person I interviewed actually believes that coercion in the name of liberty is a valid use of state power. (I found out later that that person is a member of Dart's band so I aver that we can safely discount his opinion.) Everyone else I polled already realizes that I must part company with many of my peers when it comes to understanding why Dart should just quit whining about everything. My peers feel that mainstream opinion holds that Dart takes chauvinism to bed with him at night and snuggles up to it as if it were a big, fuzzy teddy bear. While this is honestly true, I insist we must add that Dart's vassals all have serious personal problems. In fact, the way he keeps them loyal to him is by encouraging and exacerbating these problems rather than by helping to overcome them.
Dart promotes a victimization hierarchy. He and his henchmen, who are legion, appear at the top of the hierarchy, naturally, and therefore assert that they deserve to be given more money, support, power, etc. than anyone else. Other groups, depending on Dart's view of them, are further down the list. At the bottom are those of us who realize that the concept of risk includes the relationship between the consequences and probability of an event. If the consequences of an event are extremely negative, such as the devastation resulting from Dart unfurling the flag of fanaticism, then you want the probability of the event occurring to be vanishingly small, as close to zero as possible. Unfortunately, the likelihood of Dart encouraging the acceptance of scapegoating and demonization is so high that one can't help but conclude that it seems clear that he is living in a dream world. But we ought to look at the matter in a broader framework before we draw final conclusions on the subject: We see that I have in my hands a list—a long one—of balmy, vagarious uninformed-types who have joined Dart's posse, and everyone with half a brain understands that. One final point: I detest, with a detestation unutterable, all cranky, vile firebrands who scatter about in profusion an abundance of pro-Dart treatises.
As of a few weeks ago it was revealed by the Merit Board that County is short on manpower and is looking to fill 400-500 guards asap. 400 immediately. They haven't done a class since 2012-2013

Shit, we got a dog that hasn't been to work in over a year from her so called auto accident, hilariously her partner was back the next day, and his side of the car was the impact point.
If you toilet won't work, you hire a plumber. If you lights son't work , you hire an electrician. If your county police and jail don't work and are in chaos, why hire a lawyer like Dart to run them. Basically political hack mayoral wannabe who has destroyed the CCSP and staffed the jail with hoards of fellow lawyers who can't get a real job.

High Sheriff Dart, is always on top of things. He is a man that makes good things happen.
New Sergeants test is indeed coming for 2018. DOJ report is a big factor in this. Additionally, by the time the 2018 exam is graded they'll have already put two additional classes (one large, one small). It's not a rumor anymore
Dart no longer wants his inmates called inmates.
He now wants County to use the term client instead of inmate or prisoner.
Dart is making condos for the prisoners & guess what he owns the company the city will go into a contract with... Ethics??

These guys get to USE their sick days without being sick, like a 'personal' day.

I worked at the jail before CPD. There's very little difference between the inmates and many of the guys on the other side of the bars. They make CPD look like geniuses
Perhaps they should have done some wellness checks on their workers. Not home, suspension time. No and, ifs, or buts..

One thing I miss about my days in the County is that ole timers do not give a Damm and won't be denied they really know how to collectively stick it to the brass in more ways then one. Even inmates leave the Ole timers alone because they know a are true "JG" doesn't give a Damm about shit, all he cares about is doing eight and hitting the gate. Man I miss them days.8

For years I worked with dozens of these guys at my side job. Worse...work..ethic..EVER!! They'd call off at the last minute, "Oh, it's my birthday." "It's my anniversary, etc." You didn't know it was your birthday or anniversary when you filled out your schedule? They'd come late, want to leave early. And when they were there, you could never find them.
To 1221am....yeah fmla is federally protected. Fuck dart and Cara smith, a madigan flunkie who knows nothing about policing the jail or streets. I worked in the jail before coming to this shithole of a department. The jail guys having fmla is no different than some of the heroes on this job who "break a finger" in early March and are off work until the following summer. There's nothing to look into, these are contractually agreed to and federal law. If dart cared about the call offs he'd look to improve officer morale, not appease all the shitheads locked up.

I was a jail guard before cpd. both depts suck. and none of this sheriff's deputy crap either trying to make yourself out to be more important than you are. until you've worked in that human cesspool and done your time don't piss and moan about how they should be punished and held to a higher standard.
