War on Police Continues

Channel 7 again - is there anything they do that isn't anti-police?
  • The ABC 7 I-Team uncovered a stunning number of domestic violence complaints against Chicago police officers and an overwhelming lack of disciplinary action.

In the investigation, the I-Team uncovered thousands of domestic violence complaints against Chicago police officers.

In a database obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, the I-Team found 5,280 domestic violence complaints filed against Chicago police officers since the year 2000. That's more than 340 complaints filed every year and on average, nearly one per day
And how many are filed by bitter spouses, exes, domestic partners and  boyfriend/girlfriend types who know the easiest way to cause problems for a cop is to make up some story and run with it? the complaints die when (A) people make up, (B) people get over it or (C) people realize they have to sign an affidavit swearing under oath that the misbehavior actually occurred, and they realize that a perjury charge and conviction could hinder their futures in some manner (though seldom in Cook County.)

We were over at the Invisible Institute website recently and just for fun we typed in a completely random name to the database. And golly, a Domestic beef and a Conduct Unbecoming complaint, and this person suffered no untoward disciplinary actions. In fact, the sergeant was allowed to keep her spot in IAD, where she investigated many dozens of complaints herself, meting out discipline and sitting in judgement over people who had histories far less then hers. She even ended up in a special study group with all sorts of other IAD cronies and, if the open investigation is to be believed, the answers to a promotional exam. Does this prove anything?

But Channel 7 is determined to make hay out of raw numbers without even the most cursory investigation into what the numbers entailed. That might take actual work, and the Department isn't going to bash itself.

(We know we're going to get a bunch of people saying that we're ignoring a persistent problem yada yada yada. We're not. We know domestic abuse happens. We also know the flip-side where what is said doesn't match what actually occurred. We just don't go off half-cocked with horseshit numbers that can be twisted to fit a media agenda.)

I've stopped watching Ch.7 & Ch.9 after Jamal Green was on, let them keep headlining their telecast with more homicides. The bodies will continue to pile up, like I've said before the line in the sand has been drawn! The liberal media decided they wanted to back, crooked politicians & CAVE to the BL(D)M movement. Now look what they are left with? Yellow Crime Scene tape, blood, and chalk!

This is totally believable from the media. It's easier to run a bullshit piece on the police than it is to out another of their media whores, (Neil Steinberg? Is there a Mr. Steinberg in the court? Calling all Steinbergs. Please report to Judge Judy's room number 3 for your domestic battery trial). Damn that sure sounds like crickets chirping coming out of the press rooms. Maybe instead of the smear job against the police they could actually go after the real problems in this city. Let's see...crooked politicians, especially a mayor who has lost control, a judicial system that makes any jail time look like a revolving door on steroids, fake priests and reverends who scream their racially motivated hatred at the police instead of the actual murderers and shooters from their "community". How many more dead children in their "community" before Pfaker, Jesse Sr., and the rest of these storefront preachers break away from THEIR code of silence and force THEIR "community" to give up the perpetrators? Oh, wait...never mind. That would mean the media would have to get off their asses and investigate a story instead of just filing the FOIA for it.

Diane Wetendorf, police domestic violence expert, said.

I quote: Expert.

Wetendorf is a police domestic violence expert and advocate based in the northern suburbs. For years she said she helped victims who were abused at the hands of Chicago police.

"Based in the northern suburbs" Oh, and an advocate; whatever that is.

"Domestic violence itself is all about power and control so when you put the power and control dynamics together with an officer who's used to assuming that role of authority, it's a terribly volatile situation," Wetendorf, said."

Perhaps when you put stupidity and exposure together with a blithering idiot its a terribly humorous situation. Laugh, Enjoy!

Anything to save a dying rag.

Darts office has the stats. CCSD is tasked with serving the officer, when a complaint is signed and the SA approves charges.

As unfortunate as it is, it does happen.

I'm not sure how I feel about the FOP response. I'm sure others will comment on that.

I truly believe Tiny dancer will use this in the future against the CPD.

Being a union member, I would be furious. NO CONFIDENCE!!!

A good friend is going through the divorce from hell and his almost ex-wife started alleging all sorts of unsubstantiated b.s. against him. Truth is, she just wants out. Out of the city, out of the marriage. But she needed an excuse to justify it to her rigid church and family, so she fabricated abused claims, which kept him from his kids and made her out to be the victim in the eyes of friends and family. The judge called her on it, asking why she had no photos, no witnesses, no calls to 911, no counselor, nothing. Somewhere in the process, she realized he could lose his job and she wouldn't have any alimony or child support. She changed her tune in court, but not before she managed to destroy his relationship with the kids over it. There's probably hundreds of cases like that, but why look for the truth when you can report lies to get better ratings?

You need some context in a stat like that. Take any group of people in the last 17 years and see what percent were involved in domestic complaints. I'd hazard to guess it would be fairly similar to CPD's.

Like so many thing we try to fix, we overstate them until people become numb to them. Domestic violence went off the rails after OJ. We can no sooner fix every domestic situation than we can fix every substandard home situation.

When the actual victim stands and say "enough" we act. We cannot do it without them and that's the bottom line. Like DUI and college "rape" statistics though, the advocates have misrepresented the statistics and stories to the point where they don't stand up to minimum scrutiny or fact checking. Like the Michael Brown narrative that was a complete fabrication, these advocates hurt their cause rather than help it.

Is it still anti-cop if it is true. While we can have different opinions, we can't have different facts. Turning a blind eye to problem and dirty cops is no different than the "no snitch" rule of the street. Both cultures are detrimental to the city. You can't say, "My country, right or wrong." and then don't do anything to correct the wrong. Police and civilians must do better. For example, until Lord High Underling starts blaming the criminals who are shooting the guns instead of the courts, nothing is going to change.

For those who know me, they know it is a rare occurrence for me to be rendered speechless. But when I heard that ABC 7 wants to bombard us with an endless array of hate literature, I must say that speechless I was. Let me cut to the chase: When people see iracund delinquents behaving like iracund delinquents they begin to realize that if it were up to ABC 7, its nemeses would have to endure forced, behavior-modification “therapy”. That's just another shovel of dirt thrown on the grave of free speech and another reason why we must restore our righteous rage and singular purpose to prevail over ABC 7's short-sighted polity. The recent outrage at ABC 7's codices may point to a brighter future. For now, however, I must leave you knowing that when one looks at this xenophobic parade of asinine shysters, one instantly thinks of the word “pseudointernationalistic”.

The fact is that domestic complaints against officers are taken very seriously by CPD, as they should be. But unlike other people, if a charge is deemed to have merit against a CPD member, they take your gun. This means you can't work. So the allegations have to be taken seriously, and should, but they also need to be careful in their investigation. The fact is we all know significant others who make a beef just for retribution against their estranged loved one because they know how seriously the CPD takes the charges and what hell it will put their ex through. We have also been to the homes of department members where there is an allegation of abuse and how seriously it is taken. Terrible reporting

They are running the hit piece after the female PO filed suit against the city and IPRA.

What I want to know is:
1- Out of the total number of complaints how many are civilian spouses as offenders, if your the police and a victim of domestic violence does this count in IPRA data collection? I can think of two Po's who's husbands were civilians who heavy handedly ended a verbal altercation. Those said female officers were victims, yet IPRA did more investigation on the officers than the offenders.
2- are these 5,000+ complaints from 5k separate individual Po's? Or are they repeat offenders making the numbers bigger then what they are?
3- how many of these no disciplinary action taken beefs come from the merit or connected untouchables like the mentioned one in above post?

Just three quick questions that make me scratch my head.

Big hurry charging copper with murder:
Amtrak officer who fatally shot man, 25, charged

http://abc7chicago.com/news/amtrak-officer-who-fatally-shot-man-25-charged/1759817/

CHICAGO (WLS) --
An Amtrak police officer has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a Minneapolis man who was killed in an on-duty incident.

Guess the copper had an innocent man that fit the dishonest media narrative, oh snap wait whats this:

Guglielmi says the man's wounds were considered non-life threatening at the time. Officers found cash and drugs on Robertson at the scene, police said, but they did not find any kind of weapon.

He was a great guy:

Robertson was the father of two young children and worked construction in Minnesota. His family said he went to Union Station the night he was shot because it was cold and he wanted to warm up.

(he was going inside to "warm up" with drugs and cash? HMm whats his background complete history) another altar boy? was their a weapon that as usual "disappeared?" What did the copper see? This epidemic is getting worse think about this please especially you younger coppers the thugs are not worth it! let the animals roam free #protectbluelives nothing else matters!

Warm weekend on tap the thugs and illegal invaders will be out in force, the CFD medics will be busy with the carnage in the "war zone" known as chiraq! God bless the police not only in Chicago but everywhere!

My brother spent years in NYC in local and network news. He said all the local stations had what they called a "Trick Bag" of stories to run if a local politician called the station manager complaining about bad press on something, and needing a "distraction". Get the sheeples' minds off the real news --- drop a "Trick" on them. They were all prepared, edited, and pretty much ready to go with a bit of polishing that wouldn't take more than a few hours.

It was a well-known fact among everybody at all the stations he worked at. The station managers (and owners !) got to go to all the right black-tie balls and country club receptions, but if Joe Politician called and wanted a Trick aired, you damn well better get it on the 5 o'clock, or your ass is toast.

No question in my mind that exactly the same thing is going on in Chicago. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain !!!"...........

Guess my point is, even the spouses and/or significant others of New To The Job PO's, seem to know they have that (I'll Get You Fired) weapon at their disposal at any and all times.
Which is fucked up for us.

The above poster is VERY LUCKY
he escaped with his hide intact.

This deserves it's own thread SCC...

The first big "TALK" the academy instructors had with our class
was about shit like this.

They more or less said that most of us in that class
in relationships and marriages, those relationships and
marriages won't survive another 3 years...

Within the year, you started hearing about some of your
academy classmates getting jammed really bad if not
locked up and fired over domestic bullshit.

As a recruit, you don't have a prayer.

As a p.o.?

"Well, if you want your job back bad enough,
you can sue..."

Some guys (and gals) pre-emptively filed for
divorce and broke off long term relationships
because of the absolutely ridiculous amount
of bullshit you have to go through with the
department.

How many people have pre-emptively said,
"Oh fuck THIS!" and filed for divorce/
broke off relationships after seeing
academy classmates being fed head-first
through the CPD Domestic Beef wood chipper?

We know one guy who built a villa somewhere
in Central America and he lives like an
undercover king... One divorce, one kid
who has been grown a long time.

The ex re-married and divorced the next poor
slob who gave her the time of day and drained him dry
like the vampire she is.

It's all about having peace, quiet and peace
of mind.

The last thing you need is some hard-head
getting you fucked-up on your job just
because they can.

Side Note:
People like to shit-talk about why do
so many Chicago Coppers want to run off
to a cabin in the woods when they retire.

Do this for 20+ years and you really do tend
to lose your tolerance for being around people.

Listening to the birds sing in the morning?

Priceless...

The City of Chicago cannot support its police department, but it can find time to honor murderous terrorists like Oscar Lopez Rivera (friend and mentor of Luis Guitierrez) whose prison sentence was commuted by Obama.

I started dressing for work. She's still yelling like a lunatic. I pay her no attention. Out of nowhere, she grabs my duty rig, and tosses it out the 3rd floor window, into a courtyard backyard. Then, she stands in front of the door, to block my exit.
I literally lift her, and toss her aside, and leave to get my shit.
As I get to the backyard, she sticks her head out the window and yells "I'm going to call the dept and have your ass fired!
She never did. But being on PPO status, I was scared shitless.
Needless to say, that relationship ended right there.

Your woman was a nutjob long before you got on this job, Francis. You're fortunate she hasn't shitcanned your career. Hopefully you will make a much better selection for your next 'significant other' than you did with this looney toon. Look inward, before you look outward, young man.

You're preaching to the choir brother.
That shit happened over 20 years ago. And as I said, my relationship with said loon ended that day. Never looked back.

What about PO Emily Hock whose story was just in the Tribune? IPRA Investigator Kristi Lyons coached Hock's ex on how to file false allegations. Could there be other POs who have suffered because of Lyons' actions?

2/17/2017 10:48:00 AM

Lyon's actions are disgusting and deeply disturbing.
At the very least she needs to be fired although she really should go to jail too.

2/17/2017 01:03:00 PM

In Chicago the asshole behind the curtain, calling for these tricks, is none other than Rahm.
He's such a slimy, slippery bastard.

I don't watch the news, I don't read the paper and I sure as fuck don't care what either of them claim is truth. I am sure every once in a while they get something right but I haven't seen it lately.

The only two writers I can stomach anymore are Heather McDonald and Martin Preib.

Stop paying for any of this shit. Every time you give them may be the time that keeps the doors open.

If the shootings stopped, the reporters could actually focus on corrupt government government.
No one wants that.
The stats show a large department, with a normal ratio of gripes per PO.

The media needs to focus on one stat in Chiraq: http://heyjackass.com
HJ has served up every stat a reporter could need.

I don't have to be Dr Phil to agree with the former. There are level headed individuals who know how to resolve conflict. People who never become psychotic because they can control their emotions, yes we do exist. People get angry, but to the degree of this, one has to have a predisposition to be a little "coocoo". If you are a littel "coocoo" yourself it may be hard to see what is wrong with the other "coocoo", they attract each other. Good advice to look inside. Now pay me $500.

If the media was worth a shit in this town they would investigate why the unprecedented violence in this town was occurring. You are better off reading the National enquirer, they have more factual content in their paper than all the news media in Chicago combined
