Standoff Ends Peacefully

  • A "distraught" off-duty Chicago police officer surrendered to police late Wednesday morning after a 12-hour standoff with a SWAT team in the Edison Park neighborhood, officials said.

Police were dispatched to the 6500 block of North Onarga Avenue just before 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The man turned himself in about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Again, EAP is a better option.

When are Chicago Police going to learn from the Jackson's ? You got to claim that you are Bi-Polar and demand a pension. Just like "JR" is doing and collecting 138,000 a year too from Social Security that is saying is going broke and the congressional pension system. That's right folks elected thieves get both social security and pension. Only career people like Police officers, Firemen, Teachers they can't get Social Security. Senator Durban and wife are right now collecting 25,000 each a year from social security and still getting a full time check. But the democrates took care of the constituents and mixed theirs.
And there are still public employees that vote democratic. What jackass would vote for any democrate?
Jessie Jackson Jr is a convicted felon and still getting two public checks. The libtard news sure isn't screaming to block those are they. Why doesn't JJJ work for Operation Push? The old man the chief of handouts doesn't even want the primate. LOL

Don't know much about this incident but the blurb here on the blog.

But I will say this- God bless the SWAT guys for watching over our brother/sister in the toughest of times. And to the affected member, my prayers go out to you. Head up. This too shall pass.

To everyone else- if you need help, get it. We are never alone, no matter how much we feel like it.
We are all blessed to be surrounded by some of the best people in the world on this job, all you gotta do is reach out.

So many police officers are under excessive stress especially in the Chicago Police Department much of this is due to the totally inapt command structure the elected morons and a dishonest media who will 24 hours a day seven days a week Constantly report powerful stories on the Chicago Police Department where the stories are not powerful and all their sensationalized by the media and whoever the Leakers are in Chicago Police Department should be taken out and terminated immediately. No story should be put out there until it's fully investigated but they jump and do what the mayors office tells them to do because the media in this town is that in the pending their own by the elected as I always have been. President Trump is correct about the media look at MS NBC Maddow who can I don't program with a bullshit text return for the president from 2005 which is totally illegal totally criminal clearly that the president paid more in taxes than Obama Bernie Hillary or any of the others that just shows how honest our president is and how diss honest our media is.

Outside agency retiree here. I hope your officer can turn this around. This brings back bad memories. Had an old boss that got his rocks off turning in guys to the rat squad. And for really stupid shit. One was a vehicle maintenance issue. Yep. Had the rats open a file because they thought he missed an oil change (turns out the computer at the garage was fucked up), but he put a guy through shit having an internal investigation hanging over his head for 6 months. Then this same command asshole would show up at the funeral of a family member of whatever cop he was fucking with, and express his sincere condolences. He's lucky he was able to leave with all of his teeth.

After 25 years I learned that the most stress on this job is not from ex-spouses, gangbangers, or defense attorneys. You EXPECT shit from those jagoffs. The majority of stress comes from guys wearing the same shirt you do, except for some golden ornaments.

Then at retiree functions these same pricks come up to you and want to be your friend. Like somehow, magically the last 20 years of the bullshit they did has been washed away. Fuck off, pal.

Stick together boys and girls. Back up the ones with the same shirt you wear, on or off duty. I have had good bosses, but they were clearly the exception to the status quo.

Thanks for letting an old street dog rant, SCC.

Watch out for each other, the stress is excessive, the bosses are a non-issue want you to bust your ass and then they throw you to the wolves! this happens far to frequently we keep it "silent" we are all we have, with the aggressive gestapo iad and that crew along with a media that is terrible constantly looking to publish any tidbit on police, along with the laughable white shirts "command structure" who could not even command a toilet flush it spirals into a pile of shit!

Hey IAD lets see how you do your jobs finally with the clouted lieutenant scandal, bet you do nothing as usual "got clout?"

60% higher suicide rate than any major department in the country. Lots of factors play a role, however speaking with many cpd officers they feel being forced to live in chicago they have no break from the chaos. Cities like new york, l.a philly, officers When done with their shifts can leave everything behind, drive to the burbs in a nice home away from the violent city. They can breath, decompress, relax. They dont have to take their gun when taking out the garbage or walking the dog. You would be suprised how important this is. It is imposiible to "turn it off" when your confined to the city limits. Shame on your union for not fighting this residency rule. You deserve more, you deserve that house on the hill that oasis from the chaos and destruction you see everyday. So much more to the story with this guy. Bad news all the way around, he had several chances to get his act together but squandered each and everyone of them. You can only go to bat so many times for someone. They have to legitimately and sincerely want the help. It gets to a point where you just have to say fuck it and leave them to their own devices, not everyone is worth saving. Sounds cruel, but there are many more people unnecessarily suffering because of what a single addict has CHOSEN to do with their life. Time to cut the ties.

Sober 21 years is right. Sink or swim. Mommy and Daddy can only save you so many times. Recovery from heroin and prescription opiode addictions is the hardest thing to do with relapse (or several) very common. It is an unforgiving drug. If he thumbed his nose at the first 3 attempts he probably ain't ready/willing to fight that demon. Glad he didn't eat his pistol or worse hurt another copper or even worse pull a suicide by cop. Leave him be, he'll either come around and ask for help when he's ready (TRULY hits rock bottom) or they'll find him dead. Harsh reality that sucks, but it is what it is. Good luck to the family.

Also we need to praise the off duty for not being afraid to make that tough call to get bosses and swat involved. Someone who suffering some serious mental health issues and having weapons at their disposal often leads to death. By taking this guy seriously and not hiding what's going on, he saved this officer's life.

Agree 100%. You deal with your co workers/bosses 5 days a week and some of these people are worse than the ones you're arresting. People bring their unresolved issues to work and you're stuck with dealing with them. Cops with delusions of grandeur, insecurity, the false belief that they're funny or cool, and they're fake and shady. I have one or two friends on the job, the others I don't trust. I've been on for almost 19 years, worked with hundreds of cops. Pretty sad but this job attracts assholes.

Goof huh? I live in 811 and always have at least a pocket .380. Apparently you believe the selective news coverage by "our friends at the southwest Chicago post" Facebook and neighborhood watch nonsense and everything they feed you at Lindy's chili. There is plenty of violent crime in 811, and they cover it up as much as possible to try to save the area which is quickly becoming a cesspool.

If he wants to carry a gun, that's his business. And let me know if the 811 cops can hear you from inside Portillos.
