Cops Injured
- Two people were wounded, one of them fatally, in a shooting in the Chinatown neighborhood Wednesday evening, while two police officers were injured in a crash not far south, while they were responding to the shooting, authorities said.
Two people were wounded, with one of them dead on the scene and the other taken to a local hospital, in an attack near Cermak Road and Wentworth Avenue, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman. The shooting, which took place about 5:10 p.m., may have taken place on a feeder ramp to the Dan Ryan Expressway, and Illinois State Police were investigating the attack to see if took place on the expressway, according to Chicago and state police.
Two Chicago police officers and two other people were injured in a crash that took place soon after near 31st Street and Shields Avenue, the spokesman said. The officers were being taken to Stroger Hospital, while the two other people were being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, also initially in serious-to-critical condition. None of the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, and their conditions were stabilized, according to fire officials.
Also no word if the homicide is being pushed off on the State Police and out of the Chicago stats. HeyJackass.com will place it into the correct totals as usual while Special Ed's special bean-counters will pretend highways exist in an alternative reality unattached to Chicago.
Best wishes to the injured for a speedy recovery.

Wishing a full recovery to the officers involved.
Why do these young copper listen to the veterans. Stop driving like idiots. No call is worth your life, even driving like an idiot to a 10-1. You are no good to the officer calling for help if you get into a wreck on the way to help them. Stop chasing car and stop driving like idiots up calls!
If only 9 had the man power of say 7 th district.
Godspeed
Get well officers and have a speedy recovery.
State police is taking it.
For those scoring at home, it is a homicide that occurred in beautiful Chicago so it should be on the Chicago batter. But if the State Police are charged with the case, charging it on the state tally would be incorrect scoring of course. Beer here! Red hots, get your red hot.
Be careful out there. Don't go crazy chasing these mutts. I know when the when that kick hits the blood stream it is hard not to put the pedal into the floor but cops in the hospital is never a good thing.
Cold blooded murder on the expressway. Following the time tested post shooting response, how does one set up a seat belt traffic enforcement mission on an exit ramp? Will a HunchLab mission require officers to repeatedly exit and enter onto the Xway in a continuous circular loop? Will the one hour post shooting mission require beat officers to obtain gang dispersal event numbers? On a lighter note, positive community interaction numbers?
Or may the inside do nothing Community Relations security specialists can arrange an anti-violence march during rush hour. Mabe CAPS can be innovative and organize a community based "stop the violence" barbecue complete with hot dogs and in uniform clowns entertaining the crowds with their get with the beat message. How about a more effective response by the do nothing community relations privilaged few by making arrests, writing ANOVs, conducting Investigative Stops with accompanying ISR reports, conducting traffic stops with traffic statistical studies cards, enforce criminal/traffic/ordinance laws and the like during their eight hour tours.
Remember, ISP is run by none other than Ric Flair. Its my understanding he is very theatrical. Maybe ISP will follow the Chicago lead after all the murder responses with event numbers, traffic missions, hotbox missions, HunchLab missions, post shooting missions etc.

If only they hadn't closed 021!
Don't get hurt... the dept will abandon you !!! Right Cooter
What a world class city!
Shooting at 5:10pm. The Big Apple never sleeps while Chicago always shoots!
Why hasn't special Ed been hauled before the city council to explain the violence over the past year of his reign?
"State police is taking it".
Another graduate of the CPS,lol.
CPIC while giving "the notification" could not type fast enough to say "the state police" were handling....
Robberies up in 016. Now shootings too. Got to love how they'll never say the suspects are black. Guess you don't want to offend the African/American community.
Has anyone else noticed that ever since Leo has taken over the state police shootings on the expressways are up over 2000%. How does this moron still have a job? He was an inept Cpd boss and even worse Isp one.
Leo will solve it in no time.
Heal fast and fully, and take off enough time to insure total recuperation.
God Bless ALL our brothers and sisters on the job.
Why do I think that the "investigation" to see if the shooting occurred "on the expressway" will be more involved and intense then the "shooting investigation".
Get well soon Officers, and remember, you can't help if you don't get there.

Does Googlyme's staff handle the stats for homicides and people shot? If so you can be sure this incident will be credited to the State not the City. As if people are naive enough to believe that if you are on the exit ramp at Cermak Road you are not in the City! Remember, that Exit Ramp is elevated above City land, so this homicide and shooting of another victim also at the scene, should absolutely be "Credited" to the City Mayhem Toll. Unless Googlyme and Rahm can figure out how to kick it to the State. Gov. Rauner, are you watching? Your former drinking buddy is trying to make the City look good at the expense of the State! We have the same problem in 015. Dude gets shot and 75% of the watch is racing to the scene. "Battery in progress" and you guessed it, the "real police" are racing to the scene. For what? For fucking what? If you end up in a very bad vehicle crash, you are going to either die or sit in a wheel chair for the rest of your life.
My thoughts and prayers are with the officers in 009. Speedy recovery officers.
Enjoy your summer. Heal properly (slowly). Do not rush back.
What a mess it was. Third shooting in China town area within the year.
Pray full recovery for the officers.
Did the cheating lieutenant fenner help with the scene?
Attention and Dedication to duty and a job well done. Too bad for the injuries. Convalesce untill Thanksgiving.
Unfortunately this event will come under the fine tooth scrutiny comb of IPRA & Loe'vey at some point.
It's not 1960 Alabama anymore.
Nobody can understand how a Murder become a statistic for a police agency? So it's a State Murder?
Sure ISP investigates, writes a report, tallies their numbers, but what bearing does it have whether a Murder is committed in Matoon or Chicago because it occured on a highway, ramp, extensions of a state roadway or limited access highway.
To name a few, as you are aware that Cicero-50, Harlem-43, Ogden-34 Avenues are state highways by definition that transit through the violent confines of Chicago.
It's a Chicago Murder statistic being "investigated" by a police entity, what bulshit are they selling by pawning of a vital statistic that occurred within the boundaries of the City of Chicago?
Chicago is Chicago and our only geographical oddity is City Hall, not an expressway, roadway, ramp or portion thereof.
Bottom line - there is no safety within the 50 mile radius blast zone of Democrat Sanctuary City - Rahm Emanuel, Mayor.
Get better guys
Leo who hasn't passed a test he is Ed Burkes guy he will be looking for a new job soon

No, news affairs doesn't handle the stats for homicides and shootings. They handle news affairs. Whether a shooting is credited to Chicago or not, it's a shooting in Illinois. The state numbers don't go down if Chicago doesn't own an expressway shooting. State number is the same either way.
Maybe they'll make bt 914 a PEZ zone.
Men and women of the CPD. PLEASE, wear your seatbelts. Far too many of us are getting seriously injured when we don't need to. Quite thinking like a 12 year old that nothing will ever happen to you. It does and people get some serious injuries. Your family is counting on you.
This wasn't Jeremiah Holt's first arrest involving a weapon or a vehicle! September 4th, 2016, he was arrested for retail theft. The next arrest in November of 2016 got him charged with UUW - Weapon - Possess / Carry / Conceal Weapon, Criminal Trespass to Vehicles, No Turn Signals Violation, Driving on a Suspended License, and Insurance - Operate Motor Vehicle Without.
Holt was out on a $50,000 bond when he did this shooting!
