- A White House spokesman on Friday renewed the administration's warning that sanctuary cities such as Chicago could lose millions of dollars in federal law-enforcement grants, saying many people who are here illegally are committing crimes and are gang members.
Sean Spicer also implied that officials in sanctuary cities such as Chicago have no business expecting more money for law enforcement, since those cities are "allowing people to come into the country who are breaking the law, who in many cases are committing crimes."

"I think it would be interesting to want to send more money to a city that is allowing people to come into the country who are breaking the law, who in many cases are committing crimes, (members) of gangs," Spicer responded.
"You can't be a sanctuary city and at the same time … express concern about law enforcement or ask for more money, when probably a number of the funds that you're using in the first place are going to law enforcement to handle the situation that you've created for yourself."

The reporter should have been told by the press secretary that Chicago has demonstrated that providing it with more and more money over the years that may actually be the cause of violence in Chicago. It is time to try something different like withholding more and more money over a period of years.

The sad part hear the bad part we are set to lose billions of dollars that are much needed for policing and to help the taxpayers if the mayor cooperated with federal law with the illegals maybe then Attorney General Jeff sessions which sounded more resources to help stem the crime with the people in the neighborhood that caused 80% of the murder and mayhem we Chicago police officers know who the criminals who the felons are and where they are we would need to be allowed to enforce federal laws in order to put these murder and mayhem carnage inducing pieces of shit away, they could be then sentenced and relocated to the other ends of the country to make it harder for their Crews to visit them anything that can be done to keep them in prison for a long time would be welcome news for the innocent people in the city of carnage.

The "light of day" is between your ears.....The vast majority of the violence in Chicago is related to the drug trade. The drugs fueling that trade come almost exclusively from Mexico. "Sanctuary" cities give aid and comfort to the ILLEGAL ALIENS who transport the drugs into this country through what we used to call a BORDER (pre-Obama).
Not only the L/E aspect, but monies are being used to fund the illegals healthcare as well as giving them food and drink.

Noone is saying that. There's plenty of crime going on in other areas where there are illegal aliens. I once worked in an area filled with illegal aliens driving drunk all the time. There are other types of crimes that will cause the tax payers money or their lives other than the shootings on the south or west side.

I think more then monetary sanctions against these " sanctuary cities" is coming down the pike and the US Attorney even hinted at this. They are looking at ways to go after these cities and I would not be surprised if it was obstruction of justice charges against the county sheriffs and wardens of county jails. Agreed 100%. Nations have been giving money to e.g. Africa as long as I can remember. Since I was a kid and that is a long time ago. Are they any better off? NO! Civilized countries go there to teach people skills and how to run power plants, wells, electrical companies etc and when they came back to check on how things are going everything is dilapidated, nothing works and the money is pissed away. There really is a limit on how much you can change people until it's time to say fuck it, it is what it is! Money never solved fundamental problems and there are always those in power willing to scoop it all away.

SPRINGFIELD - Friday in Washington DC, the National Association of Manufacturers met with President Donald Trump to share what they found after surveying the group's 14,000 members. Ninety-three percent of NAM's members reported being optimistic about their industry's future - more than they had been in 20 years.
Within hours of that announcement from the nation's capital, Caterpillar doused Illinois manufacturers' simmering enthusiasm when they announced yet another downsize coming - this time, the closing of an 800 employee plant outside west suburban Aurora.
Caterpillar's announcement was a painful reminder of the struggle Illinois manufacturers are facing with Democrats controlling the General Assembly for over three decades. Trial lawyers and public sector unions control Illinois Democrats, and their willingness to seriously consider reforming the state's workers' compensation system and its budget-breaking pension system.
Thus, the state legislature either can't or won't balance its budget.
As a result, Chicago area manufacturers, who pay heavy property and corporate taxes already, brace for the state to take more as they work hard to keep up with current demands. At the same time, manufacturers with two to 1000 employees deal with state mandates and regulations that demand higher minimum wages, paid sick leave, mandated health care insurance and more.
