100% agree. Many of the individuals we should remember are stuck in bad places psychologically, regardless of when and where they served. It's something that's been long forgotten in this tumultuous time we live in. But, this is a time for all of us who didn't serve in the military, including myself, to give thanks to them. And I do thank them. We all should.

Thank you to those who have served to protect our nation, and continue to do so. Blessed are the memories of those who have given their lives in our defense, and in the defense of the world we all strive to create, in our own lives, and in our nation. Thank you.

P.S. as I found no way to directly e-mail the authors of the blog, here is a link to a bill of interest to Chicago, the CPD, and your readers, a statewide immigration sanctuary bill now being considered / voted on in Illinois.

Citizen reader: For some time today I and I hope others will spend a few minutes thinking about those who gave up their lives far away in service to the nation. People like Donald Porter, Chris Beavers and the Sieben boy over on Spring Street to name a few. Don't forget them, their younger brothers and sisters I grew up with or their parents; and all the others whom were left to deal with the grief. Peace and prayers for you all.

Go to Abraham Lincoln Cemetary near Joliet. Bring one small American flag with you. Find a grave where you can tell no one has visited for a while. Place the flag there.

If you don't tear up, you're not human.

If you use your personal phone for work activity, you are now making all your actions on that phone subject to FOIA / subpoena / etc. just don't do it.

The best way to thank them is to remember their sacrifice and honor it, not just today, but every day. Remember all the young ladies and gentlemen that gave their lives to further the cause of this great Nation. Never belittle it. Honor it by your words and actions, politics aside.

....and while I am at it, thanks dad.

When you have a moment, say a prayer for a Brighton Park war hero who was killed in the Quang Tin province of Viet Nam on Thursday, 30 July 1970, at the age of 22 years.

TIMOTHY MICHAEL SPRINGER, 02 May 1948, is honored on Panel 8W, Row 71 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The best way to honor and remember the fallen, to Never Forget what it is they died for is to stand and fight for the same things they did, TODAY.

Bowing down to the very evil they stood up to, and died fighting back against, is the way you dishonor those who have fallen.

Know this. Today is not about remembering for just one day, it is a reminder day to jog the memories of all who would rest on the laurels of those fallen, a reminder that they couldn't - and didn't- rest on any laurels....and neither can you today.

Honor them by seeing the reality that they knew Freedom Is Not Free and they were willing to pay for it with their own blood so their kin could have it. We can not think we do not owe our kin the same thing now. We do, all of us, and in case someone forgets, all of the fallen ARE our kin! If we, now, just give our freedom up, then what was their sacrifice for?

They all died so we now can be free to just look the other way as freedom is just stripped away while we pretend it isn't happening? C'mon folks. We owe the fallen more, a lot more, than that. SO lets PAY UP!

I did Honor Guard duties this morning with my VFW post. One cemetery had the grave of a 20yo Marine KIA in Iraq. His family still teared up when taps was played, 12 years after he left tis world. An honorable death compared to 99% of the scrap killed in Chicago. And nobody says anything...

To the true American patriots that have fought for our freedoms, thank you and may God bless you all, past and present. And to all you liberal communists, please move to the Middle East where you will enjoy none of the freedoms you enjoy here courtesy of the men and women who have served, shed bled or given the ultimate sacrifice that allows you to spew your propandist liberal mentally ill rhetoric. And remember, for your life thank God! For your freedoms, thank the military!!!

By today's standards he isn't a Democrat either. He fought against the leftist socialist bullshit that the Democratic Party stands for today. And what would you know he was killed by an extreme leftist go figure.
