Good News!
- It’s common knowledge that Chicago is one of the nation’s most dangerous cities when it comes to gun violence. But that’s only because it has one of the highest populations.
A non-profit news outlet that focuses on gun coverage called The Trace, found that in gun violence per capita, Chicago isn’t even in the top 10 — or the top 15.
Miami, Washington, D.C. and other metro areas are worse. And here are the absolute worst: New Orleans is on top, followed by Detroit, St. Louis, Baltimore and Oakland.
You have to go all the way down to number 18 to find Chicago, right behind Pittsburgh.
We're sure that's a great comfort to the 320 or so dead in Chicago this year, and the 800 last year.

That anti-gun rag is fake news.
Well they're not wrong. Population plays a large role in crime. We should be at NY or LA levels and obviously that's a problem but using per capita amounts is the most accurate way to weigh how dangerous a city truly is. Let's not forget the robberies, sex assaults and batteries however.

That is certainly welcome news, and even uplifting. If you stay out of the bad part of town and off the streets during the wee hours, I bet one is even safer. See Mayor Rahm has been right all along.

Statistics are used by progressives to either defend or promote their agenda. But what the https://www.thetrace.org/2017/06/14-facts-gun-violence-america/ fails to point out is that all the cities are run by demorats. There has always been a correlation between demorats and violence.
'The Trace' is a propaganda arm of anti-gun politicians that specializes in distorting statistics. It's a safe bet that anything they say is the opposite of reality.
I'm a statistics kinda guy so what I'm thinking is if the body and shot count can be adjusted to more realistic factoring the city could come up smelling like roses. So let's try a little excersise. Let's take the body and shot count and assign a factor of X now let's put in a variable of innocent victims and call it Y. Now the final variable will be the Z. And that is the number assigned to NHI shootings and body count. So there you have it a final derivative that the city can tout to the media and agin get the city to the top of the safest city's list.
Nobody mention race percentage of population, race percentage by arrest, race percentage by victim. For god sake, nobody mention race. Let's pretend it doesn't' factor into this equation.
The Trace is Bloomberg's anti-gun propaganda site. He set it up and it's 100% bought and paid for. That's how they can be 'non-profit'.

Ok, so people shoot people all over the USA, but what people? Amish? Koreans? Irish? Inquiring minds want to know.
The most violent cities seem to have one thing in common - they are run by democrats who have handcuffed their police and let the catered-to BLM constituency run rampant and dictate policy.

One thing they fail to mention is the number of folks wounded. Nowhere in any American City has there been over 6 thousand people shot in the last 16 months,we may have had over a thousand who perished and someone plays with the death versus the population but for overall violence Chicago is the American leader. Most folks in the City will tell you the shots fired are a constant and common occurrence,just because the thugs don't hit a person is not to say there is no violence. That 18th place ranking is a five year average for the time period October 2010 to October 2015. Before the larger spike in 2016. Not that it matters, the dead do not use math.
I wonder what the per capita would be if it was based on the neighborhoods the blood shed occurs in. The bottom line is considering the populations of the South and West sides per persons shot/killed would skyrocket our ratings! As soon as the good people realize there are better and brighter places this city is tanked!

Although a few of the top 10 cities are not too far away, I just avoid them. They're all liberal democrat rat nests and it's better, and safer, to just avoid them.

Yes, there are still officers that are aggressively working as if this were the pre-2014 obama-led era of the assault on police. However, those are fewer and fewer and rightfully so. The leftist that run this city, county and state will happily destroy the lives, reputations and careers of police officers, while holding nobody within the "community responsible for their own actions. Think of how far down the list Shitcago would fall if we had no ghetto rats. Of the 17 ahead of Shitcago only 4 had fewer rats than we do. The list of the most violent cities is just about the same as a list of the percentage population of rats.

Any **study** or article that uses that 'per capita' stat to justify whatever point they're trying to make/justify is full of shit -- especially on Guns and Gun Control -- because it can mean whatever you want it to mean.

A local television news crew in New Mexico became the story when someone stole the station’s SUV as staffers gathered footage for a segment on crime in the area.
“We were doing a story about those concerns, and the city’s response to those concerns when, ironically, we became victims of crime ourselves in exactly the area they’re talking about,” said KOB news director Michelle Donaldson.
A GPS device on the vehicle led to its recovery a short time later, though it had been damaged and the thief was no longer on the scene.

Look at who they compare Chicago with, all once flourishing working class cities and Miami a once fancy-schmancy safe destination for the A list and working joe.

Crime is down!
Had to transport a juvenile to the Juvenile Detention Center aka Audi home. This kid was caught with a loaded gun while wearing a electronic monitoring device. While waiting to be taken into intake this evil kid related that he wished that he would have shot the officer. This is not only alarming but disgusting! I blame his family for a shit job at parenting and snowflakes for sympathizing with this monster. Even worse the deputies thinking he was funny for not only what he was saying but that he was back. I can't wait to put Illinois in my rear view mirror and never come back.
We're just gonna have to try harder.

Check out the video of the tourist attack and beating in New Orleans. These aren't the 1960's anymore. Savages have taken over the streets in every liberal jurisdiction. The naive's of the world better wake up or get ready to lay in a pool of blood like these guys. BTW it wasn't even 9pm yet.

Went with a group many years ago for Mardi Gras, feral youth packs would filter thru the drunken whitie crowds, ass grabbing women and snatching purses, pickpocketing whatever they could. If you ever been to Mardi Gras you know how the 'bead' earning system works.
Well, one raucous pack of feral youths never did leave the circle...walking or upright, but plenty dazed.

Sad but as soon as you put the homicide numbers against all of Chicago's almost 3 million people the numbers/percentages are skewed. The real story is that this murderous percentage only applies to a few neighborhoods pushing that 2.8 million down in the hundreds of thousands. It's by no means an accurate figure yet one that get's the only press.I would like to see a true number census based against districts or beats. Those statistics would be eye opening for those outside the ranks.
Met up with a table full of older, retired, fairly harmless looking guys at a local Southside Chicago pizza joint. Turned out that they were far from harmless. The place was much safer with them around, better than the CPD. A couple of retired southside old school CPD Detectives and a couple of retired U.S. Military Special Ops guys who did time in Afghanistan and other foreign Hellholes. Nice guys, but dangerous as hell. Like Mr. T used to say, I'd pity the fool who came in there looking for trouble. Good to know that guys like this are still around.
