Witch Hunt Continues
- In a historic move sure to be watched nationwide, three current or former Chicago Police officers are facing criminal charges in an alleged cover-up to protect Officer Jason Van Dyke, who fatally shot 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.
Special prosecutor Patricia Brown Holmes on Tuesday announced a three-count grand jury indictment charging patrol officers Joseph Walsh and Thomas Gaffney and detective David March with conspiracy, obstruction of justice and official misconduct.
Holmes accused the trio of allegedly filing false accounts of the October 2014 shooting to keep Van Dyke from being accused of any wrongdoing. She also said the three failed to interview witnesses who might have contradicted their faulty version of events.

In what world are officers interviewing "witnesses" involved in a shooting that they might also be witnesses in? Highly unlikely under any circumstances.

On one hand, they want to trick-bag every copper they can by getting instantaneous statements and then firing them all for Rule 14 violations. And on the other hand, they're indicting coppers for not interviewing witnesses that might assist recollections which could be characterized as "witness intimidation" by hostile attorneys should memories be different.
Still not a single question of the exempt panel that cleared the shooting as "justified." Who was on that panel again? Oh yeah....Special Ed. The rest retired with full pensions somehow. Read the Det. Supp., and March states EXACTLY what the video shows. The Indictment complain's that March mis-characterized the video, but not the facts contained on the video. This is the State arguing the reasonable doubt of it's own theory! The whole thing stinks of Witch Hunt. I will attend the 10-1 fund raiser for all, when and where. To: Dan Herbert; you're right! Why does the conspiracy theory not attach all the way up the chain of command? They all got it wrong? So Dan, Kinesiology. A video re-enactment (or several) for court, with your Kinesiology experts showing that the offender was attacking the officers and that he was not just walking on. I think Van D. beats this the first time up or on appeal. If he beats this then how is it a conspiracy to show the truth! If the conspiracy charges fail then how did Van D. do wrong? Then, I watched NBC 5 tonight and they repeated the Carol M allegation of 86 minutes of missing video from a Burger King. She has repeated this story many times and never mentions that the FBI looked at the video system and found that it was not tampered with. This has become a "Zombie Lie", as Bill Maher would say. It's so tiring to see the press hyperventilate while covered in their own ejaculate, although Carol seems to live for this.
Announcing these indictments, the day before Jason's next court appearance, and within a week of an article published in the local Print Media, stating that the Van Dyke case is NOT a Slam Dunk, makes it obvious that the timing here is no coincidence. But there is another dynamic going on, and it is what I have often said: Nothing in Chicago happens without a Racial and or Political Component. Consider that the officers are accused of "Conspiracy" and "Obstruction of Justice", among other charges by allegedly distorting, concealing or simply failing to obtain evidence. Yet, is there any piece of evidence that is as incendiary and important to this case, as the video? The Prosecutor and Special Prosecutor are Black! Politically, the current County State's Attorney is a protege of Preckwinkle, no buddy of Rahm and someone who wants to make sure that the next Mayor will be Black. At some point, either the attorneys representing Van Dyke, or the attorneys representing these 3 officers, are going to be forced to have Rahm testify. 1. Rahm claims there is a Blue Wall of Silence. O.K. Rahm, under oath, tell everyone where you learned of this. 2. Rahm, his police liaison, (Ms. Roundtree), the then Supt., Mc Carthy, the current Supt., Escalante, and several other Exempts; all saw the video the next day, and all knew it was being concealed. The most Racially Charged piece of Evidence in this case was CONCEALED by the Mayor, and the top Command Officers in the Chicago Police Department! How can they walk away from that? The Suppression of the Van Dyke video was done to ensure Rahm's reelection, Plain and Simple! Remember, Rahm had alienated Blacks with the closing of 50 schools and numerous other insensitive acts, yet when put against a Latino, Blacks supported Rahm. Would and Will Blacks ever support Rahm now that they realize the Callous Act of suppressing the video was strictly for political gain? Was it an act of Obstruction of Justice? Just watch the video of the on scene supervisors and you'll get the real conspirators that came up with a decades old narrative which Detective March and others incorporated into their accounts of events and submitted reports. Find the report that lists all the personnel on scene and match that to same and you'll will be amazed...

when a sergeant signs a case report he is not actually approving the truth of what is in the report, he is approving how the report is written and if it contains all that is required of that particular report. On the other hand, when a gold star in the chain of command approves a report, he/she is approving many reports along with conclusions of others. In this case, the exempts had the opportunity to watch the video and read all reports submitted up until that time, and they approved all of it. If there was a conspiracy by two patrol officers and a detective at the scene, then there surely was a conspiracy with everyone at that exempt meeting 10 days later and with the mayor of the city and the corporation counsel of the city.

I may be missing some facts, but I thought I'd mention that.
Dave M was my training detective. He had already been in the area for almost two decades specializing in homicides and police shootings. Dave was one of the most straight laced people I've ever met. The closing supp mirrored the officer's videos and nothing, I repeat nothing, contradicted the accounts by witnesses. So Dave and the patrol Sgt (that did nothing wrong) are now being targeted while every boss on this job along with IPRA, CCSA, city hall etc go along without any worry of this political witch hunt.
This makes me sick to ever have joined this eff'd up department. If someone like Dave can be sacrificed to save the mayor, then why would anyone take this job serious. If the mere fact that you happen to be working and assigned a job can get you fired and indicted then why show up? Why do your best? McNaughton making an immunity deal rings loud and clear. It should get through the thickest of skulls. Being a worker beyond your normal duties is unappreciated, senseless and futile.
Subpoena the bosses. Question whether they approved justified shooting based on the reports or video. If they say reports then a judge would not convict. If they say video, well how can they not indict those bosses. Either way remember judge not jury trial.
What disturbs me is the lack of "diversity" in the people "searching " for the "truth" .....If the situation was reversed I am sure the term " lynch mob" would be thrown around, but given the debacle in Baltimore probably is just the way it needs to be . The police have been backed into a corner. Officers are getting sued, stripped or charged for all types of stuff. Everyone is calling for reform as if police are the real problem all while crime is out of control in Chicago. The top cop, the Supt. Does NOT have your back despite what he may say, nor do most upper echelon supervisors. Dept policies are being re-written to totally hang you should it be deemed necessary. Politicians are trying to take away police protections. The Dept, ACLU, IPRA, COPA, state's atty, mayor, aldermen, the media etc., etc. they will all hang you. This is not an over reaction. Just watch the video of the on scene supervisors and you'll get the real conspirators that came up with a decades old narrative which Detective March and others incorporated into their accounts of events and submitted reports. Find the report that lists all the personnel on scene and match that to same and you'll will be amazed...

How much you wanna bet, that when the defense calls upon EJ to testify to his responsibilities that night, he will be dealing with a kidney issue.
Outcomes for these trials have already been decided. JVD will be convicted of something and will then win his appeal.
This new special prosecutor involved with these new indictments will most likely seek misdemeanor pleas, allowing these 3 to keep their pensions. But also casting a shadow of guilt over the entire incident.
Just my opinion.
Are we now going to indict states attorney investigators, asa and felony review when they fail to investigate witnesses, call witnesses to trial and any and all errors they do wrong? Why not file a complaint with the ARDC against all ASA's who lose a case for improperly representing the citizens. Why not charge the felony review supervisors who refuse to approve felony charges and then when the case goes to trial, the trial attorneys now want detectives to upgrade to a felony. Didn't the supervisors obstruct justice?

Ive read the reports when one of the papers put them in PDF form year or two ago. Nobody, including the detectives reports did anything for Van Dyke besides either describe what was told to them by VD or what was on the video.

None of them were forced to retire. They retired or resigned to try to get themselves out of the Laquan mess, and it seems to have worked. They've all moved on to bigger and better things while collecting their CPD pensions. Escalante was made acting superintendent despite his involvement. That's hardly being "forced to retire." As for Fat Eddie, he's an easily exploitable/controllable black face that the community demanded and Rahm hand-picked to fit his needs. Appease the community with a puppet and ride out the storm. Then, when it's all over, Fat Eddie is gone and an outsider is put in his place to start the real "reform" of the department. It's all politics and bullshit, using the lives and freedom of the police as pawns.

Ok but how about the HGS Sgt's and Lt's that proof these reports and request things to be added or deleted prior to being submitted for approval. Some of these guys are out of their minds and are the exact reason I stopped working HGS. Not saying March listened to them. If you're going to claim conspiracy you have to include everyone who signed off on this shooting Commander, Deputies chief of Detectives, 1St Deputy and Superintendant. Probably a couple more. They had the video, they had the statements McNaughton took and the original case report and Detective Supps. They signed off on all of it! If the special prosecutor is claiming a conspiracy then they are all guilty WTF.

Had the opportunity to be a fellow PPO in Dave March's home room class. He was a dedicated recruit, then a working PO and finally a long serving detective. If Det. We cannot go protesting the ways these other groups are allowed to but we can protest in a silent way that will speak loud and clear. We need to pick a weekend and show it. Absolutely nothing.
