- State Representative and Minneapolis mayoral candidate Raymond Dehn is calling for major policing changes, proposing to take away guns from the majority of officers.
Dehn is one of several candidates running to beat current Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges in the fall.
He recently won the support of voters at the Democratic Farmer Labor convention and now his call to disarm police of their side guns is garnering major attention.
"I'm not saying they don't have access to that, just like they have access to more lethal weapons in their cars, I would believe they would still have access to their guns in their cars," said Dehn.

However, as England became more "Diverse" and abandoned the tradition of British Class structure and civility, it was realized that Diversity also brought violence. The writing is on the wall, this is a direct appeal to the new thinking Democrat's and their hate for the police. I've been looking at other ways to make a living, with only 6 years on the CPD, I can pull the pension money. For me, I'm exploring a construction company in another State. I have relatives in Wisconsin and Indiana who are in the trades and doing very well since Trump got in office. The building and other investments in these to States is promising and being on the CPD presently is depressing. The only thing holding me, is the OT and friends. A lot of my fellow officers have family's with kids, and that would be a problem. However, I don't have a family to worry about and that freedom makes it a lot easier to leave But peace of mind, a better future and a lot more money can cut a lot of ties. At the rate Illinois is going, it's headed for third world status and that's not to far from the truth.
The day they try to pull this in Chicago, is my husband's last day of policing.
Screw that. He can do something else. I can work more. We can cut back. There is NOTHING worth that.

Water Reclamation District and County Hospital Police have to lock up their department issued weapon at shift change as well. The legal departments don't want their police carrying a department issued weapon while off the clock. No big deal. Just carry your own weapon to and from work.
