Pursuit Wreck
- A Chicago police officer was among three people hurt in a crash late Saturday after pursuing a car believed to be involved in an earlier shooting.
The incident occurred around 11:33 p.m. near the intersection of W. Roosevelt Rd. and S. Union Ave. in the city’s University Village neighborhood, according to police.
Authorities said on-duty officers in an unmarked squad car saw a vehicle believed to have been used in a nearby shooting. The officers attempted to curb the vehicle, which then fled, according to police.
The unmarked police car was then involved in a collision with another vehicle, officials said, injuring one officer and two civilians.
That's an unusual color for an unmarked car....black....pretty clean, too.
That's because it was the 011th District Commander. In a pursuit. In 012.
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Best wishes to all for a speedy recovery.

Someone needs disciplinary action, and to pay for a squad car. No good can come from a high speed pursuit, and this one proved it. Stay fetal.
Speaking of Commanders, Friday is Bubblehead's last day before going on IOD for a couple of surgeries related to him being shot. Rumor is he's riding IOD until retirement -- and not at his choosing. Whoever at HQ finally had the balls to send him on his way, we owe you a solid.
Enjoy you're suspension time commander for chasing in an unmarked car. I only took 3 days for mine when I got into a chase that ended in an accident... hahahahahahahaha, who am I kidding, you'll get an honorable!
First, give him days for violating department vehicle pursuit policy.
Then hammer him with extra days for being stupid.
There's your department 'leadership' in a nutshell. 30 years OTJ and can't apply something as basic as the Balancing Test.
Unless the car was wanted for shooting a fellow officer it's game over once they take off and start driving like assholes.
Will the Two Tiers of Discipline rear it's ugly head? I'll bet it does. Perhaps a nice PI lawsuit seeking punative damages by the injured civilians will be what that over-promoted merit hack needs to remind him of the reality of the current day policing atmosphere.

He's having zippers surgically implanted about his body which will enable him to stuff/stash even more cash...
Interesting, I wonder if the disciplinary policy is the same for exempts. Still waiting to see how the commander from 010 gets cleared after shooting at a fleeing vehicle that wasn't being used as a weapon. Oh well the protected few will be taken care of as always. PS don't try this as a PO you will be fired.
A new technique that some younger officers use to justify pursuing a vehicle that takes off on them is this: the dispatcher asks them the reason for the chase? The officer says "the car was possibly involved in an earlier shooting, robbery, rape, etc.".
They think they just out smarted the vehicle pursuit policy. Oh, another excuse they give is that the driver is possibly under the influence.
Listen up younger officers- this is not a game. In the present climate you are endangering your own freedom and job.
as a commander said to me one time, "general orders are rules for you but only guidelines for me". Nothing will happen here
auto's full of drive-by shooters should not be getting chased they should be getting ticker-tape parades
True leaders lead from the front. Thanks for assisting CO! Too bad we didnt get the jag off
I reckon the commander doesn't read SCC, or he/she would know better. Anyhow, hope everyone recovers quickly, except for the scum that wouldn't stop.
J.J.
The Commander could claim that it was his twin brother, not him.
Goof!
What policy did he violate? He initiated a pursuit from a stoo he attempted to make on a car used in a shooting. Unless a marked car joined the pursuit and he failed to allow the marked car to take over the chase he didnt neccessarily violate any policy.
So I'm gonna predict that this person will take no time for this, right? All violation noted for the allegations.
Did FatHeadEd strip him for his own good?
Just like Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in hot pursuit of the Duke Boys. The chase never ended well for Rosco, either.
He wasn't in pursuit, he saw pursuit ,pulled out to block traffic and someone went around stopped traffic to t-boned him.
WeeZee crashes 5 CPD cars , nothing happens, cheats in Lt test nothing happens, plucks her son from jail in 2 than threatens desk crew, nothing happens, comes to work late, leaves early nothing happens, sleeps in her her car while working VRI , nothing happens.........
Who did the vehicle pursuit ?
Someone please stay in this one.
Thanks SCC.
Just found out crazy Kim in Mass Trans sugar daddy is a Deputy , whoa !! Ain't nothing going to happen to Cindy Shame, you go girlfriends, bring in all your south and west side peeps!! Contract and greavances , dat means nothing!!
Yes FOP let's remember to revisit this one and see exactly what punishment is handed out out to the Commander. Suspension time. Defensive driving school etc etc. Is IPRA investigating?
If the Commander is in a chase I guess that means a street deputy would have to terminate the chase?
Has he been Stripped and Sent to Call Back by Special Ed yet?
Who terminates a commanders chase? A deputy? Hahahahahaha. A better question is who gets disciplined??? Ohhhh right....NO ONE
I love to see how the narrative of the department vehicle crash report was written. I can see it now... "commander was responding to an outside units pursuit of a vehicle wanted in connection to a shooting. Commander was not actively engaged in said pursuit, but only responding to the general vicinity as a support unit when collision occurred." Caboodle and gps his car to see if speeds matched what was written in the vehicle pursuit report - i'll bet they don't even come close to matching. Then whack him and the boss that wrote it for falsifying an official report. IFIYGD has it right - this is our leadership, fucking pathetic. He and his twin are political appointments and show exactly why this department is a joke. I hope he gets some days for this but we all know the reality of blue shirt vs white shirt. Hopefully he gets his ass sued off personally by the people he hit.

Amusing anecdotal quote/paraphrase comes to mind...
"It's good for troop morale to see a few dead
generals laying on the battlefield."
Translation:
Seeing some of these clouted/talentless
Gold Star donkeys laid out with their hooves
sticking in the air with X's for eyeballs would
go a long way toward showing the peed-on
peons in Patrol that organizational peril could
be felt and shared equally.
See? We were decent about it.
We refrained from our usual blood-thirsty
advocacy of exempts being shoved against
the bullet pocked wall of public opinion/
political expediency/sheer organizational
Fuckery/agenda driven Swing-Dickery
just like the blue-shirted churls are.
No blindfold.
No cigarette.
No "What ya want on your Tombstone?" either...
Feelin' whimsical an' shit today...
Police Like You Have No Friends.
Kulbida's last day is Friday? Oh geez,he is gonna be 1 thieving Son of a Bitch before he hits IOD..
I thought unmarked cars can't chase? Different rules for different folks.
What part of Don't Chase dunt he unnerstan?
Unfortunately the Tact Lt will have to give up his car.
Or maybe Granny Clampetts old car is available.
Think Jugghead Special Ed will bill the DC for the cost of repairs,
because I don't think The General will cover the damage, even with the high deductible.
Probably the same merit hack that is telling his guys to go out and get activity.
Let's hope it is the end of Bubblehead! Every promotion he has gotten is because he was doing something wrong; like standing in the doorway on a scene he had no business, like driving recklessly, hastily to get back to the district, like collecting $$ to pad his resume & make payoffs. This man is pathetic! He has no business being of rank, let alone being on the job. He is a disgrace to the uniform. Lying, thieving bastard....& now he'll go IOD, when his ailments are most likely related to the character of his very being, being an asshole. Karama is a bitch, bubblehead. Good riddance!

If the stink on dog shit had any redeeming intrinsic
value, he could render a goodly sized pile of the stuff
odor-free in very short order with just a wave of his hand...
Good riddance to very bad rubbish overstaying it's
welcome by many years.
Squad, I have a car that just took off on me. Is there a commander in the area that can give chase?
What pursuit? He was just "following."..... three miles from his district...
No blindfold.
No cigarette.
No "What ya want on your Tombstone?" either...
best line yet. love it.

They didn't get the jag offs because the commander got into an accident no where near the actual chase and due to that they called it off. So it was your true leaders fault they got away. Good job assisting CO.
Maybe he was trying to keep his spot on the second watch...
Video clearly shows hom violating the the traffic light. Someone is gonna get paid.
Either the Commander was trying for a merit promo,
or the 'roids just happened to kick in at that time.
It's a stupid law brought about by amateurs trying to
make a get-a-way pumped up on adrenaline or other
stimulants. You ain't right in the head if you do something
that's going to prompt the po-lice to chase you in a special
interceptor vehicle with tweaked suspension for stabilization,
while you fishtail, drift, and oversteer in your front-wheel-drive
beater.
Such scoundrels in hot pursuit frequently kill or maim innocent
pedestrians, pets. Private/government property is ruined.
He maybe bubblehead but look where he ended up a commander. The question is who in their right mind would back him and promote him. Answer: goofs worse than him. People that owe him for some coverup bs.Goofs promoting goofs. Who sold McWhiskey face on promoting him?
Good fucking bye.

You made me snort laugh as I sipped a beer. Now my nose is burning and my keyboard is sticky.
I bet Kulbida tried to get the 11th District Commander to buy tee shirts to a non-existent golf outing in return for making the paper read right.
There going to be lot of people grieving spars and suspensions of he doesn't get into trouble.
Kulbida sounds like he would have been a great match for a certain radio man 012 had a year or two past. His cake and coffee fund was stuff of legend, who say's 30 years of petty thieving doesn't pay?
In the end even a Legend falls however. The 99 cent Bandito brought his act to a suburb and got caught. I imagine he kept his pension tho.
Boy the class of '86 must have been the last true class of pirates hired. "Ahoy there matee, anchors away". They should have just taken lock up photo's when hired and saved some trouble for lock up keepers down the line.

Spoken like a true moron and suckass. Crashing your car by joining a pursuit you have no business being involved in isn't leadership. It's stupidity. Leaders are supposed to do things the right way to serve as an example to those under their command. If you think what he did was leadership, try doing the same thing and see if he backs you. See if you don't get disciplined, sued, and/or fired. Follow the example of your "leader" and see how it all works out for you.
