More Corrupt Aldercreatures?

  • The former landlord of the shuttered Double Door music venue has filed a federal lawsuit alleging Ald. Proco Joe Moreno (1st) violated his civil rights by using threats and political intimidation against him in a vendetta over the club’s eviction.

The suit, filed this week in federal court, also names the city of Chicago and the Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards as defendants.

The landlord, Brian Strauss seeks more than $9.6 million in damages, according to the filing.
There's some entertaining video at the link that we think we've pointed out before. Proco Joe and Maldonado are so crooked, they don't even care when they're on tape - they just carry on with their theatrics and unethical behavior.

It's about time that aldercreatures start wearing body cameras as they are far more corrupt than anyone else currently wearing a camera. They are doing the peoples' business 24/7 where cops are only on the clock for 9 hours. They also go to jail at a higher rate and therefore shouldn't be trusted by any decent human beings.

Agree.
Mandatory body camera for Alderman. They must were it every moment they are out of the house, and no meeting may occur in their houses.

I agree completely. Now just get 26 Alderthieves and a corrupt Democrat Mayor to propose it, agree to it, and actually act.

I would be floored if any of those crooks even proposed this.

So if the building becomes vacant, per the aldercreature, when the tenants are unable to renew their leases and move out, if Strauss removes all the toilets, does that mean he won't have to pay property tax?

Seems there was a recent precedent set.

So who wins? Strauss. He doesn't pay tax. He wins the law suit.

So who loses? City of Chicago and the taxpayers. The city losses revenue. The city has to pony up for the law suit. The taxpayers are stuck with the bill for the law suit.

Saw a lot of good bands and music acts at the double door. It was sad when they shut down. I think those type of venues are good for the neighborhood. Kinda reminds me of the ethnocentric argument Maldonado was making when he didn't want Humbolt park hosting Riot Fest for a second time. Those punk and metal rocker kids are some of the most well behaved for such large crowds. They smoke weed and drink but rarely a fight or a disturbance of any kind. Very polite for a massive crowd. Very little police needed for those shows and they bring spending money to the area. Compare that with the Puerto Rican fest and all the shenanigans and the police resources needed for that. Puleeze.....

Several months ago this alderman and his entourage barged their way in to the up and up lounge at the Robey hotel. He and his posse didn't want to wait the 2 hour wait like other guests until there was room. They somehow were able to get into the elevator leading up the the rooftop bar. When they made their way they were rude to the staff after they had to be told that they can't just start grabbing empty chairs from other tables when someone got up to go order a drink from the bar or use the restroom. One person in the group who identified himself as first ward superintendant Orlando Lopez threatened to come back and shut the place down for code violations because he felt they weren't being properly respected. They were complete jerks. This guy thinks he owns his part of the city

Yeah I think that's pretty well proven by what Alder-Creature Moreno says in that video.

It also seems to me that what he's doing in that video is committing Extortion (Def: the practice of obtaining something . . . through force or threats). And if the building owner, Brian Strauss, can prove that the money he's losing ties someway into Interstate Commerce, that bumps it up to a Federal Crime, and that's punishable by up to 20 Years in Federal Prison. Proco could be Blago's bunkmate.

The way things are going the Feds should make a 'Chicago Wing' in one of the prisons or build a new prison just for all he corrupt politicians in Illinois. That would make it convenient for visiting wives, girlfriends, and mistresses.

Police are empowered to like you know arrest corrupt politicians.
It is umm like part of the job and stuff.
I can't wait until politicians are forced to wear body cams - to comply with open meetings requirements and FOIA. It is only a matter of time.

Sorry to cops who don't want to wear em, you gotta (in part for your own defense but so too for others"). As SCC said, politicians are public servants of the most powerful order, and as such MUST be subjected to them.

I believe this is why the Judiciary resists, the Supreme Court especially. Once they finally relent, the legislators will not be able to do so anymore either. As such, it is only a matter of time now. I suspect it will come to a lawsuit appeal that allows video evidence from a lower court's proceeding in. Usually additional evidence is not allowed and not considered during appeal, but at some point there will be a set of circumstances where it is so obvious that there is no choice - and once it happens, it happens.

Then we can all SMILE at the corrupt bastards, knowing that from that moment on, we know it is only a matter of time before corrupt lying fools mess up bigtime on camera for all to see.

As for the lawsuit at issue and "who pays"? Well its a valid point formed as a rhetorical question. The only way to end the ghetto lottery (yes that is what this is) is to make INDIVIDUALS responsible. Just like the cop shooting Citizen payouts done when the one shot is a CRIMINAL and the cop is in the right and proper. Payouts to "avoid more expensive proceedings" is just a money laundering.

When the individual must be held liable AT LEAST in addition to the taxpayers, with the individual being mot liable meaning the taxpayer is not liable, it would stop the drama of that kind. How could they pay out tax monies when a cop is in the RIGHT? They couldn't. Here, if a Alderman ABUSED his authority, two things have to happen. First, the man wronged has to be made whole, FIRST payments coming from the Alderman's pocket and then the rest from the City coffers (which should then pursue the alderman endlessly for, after the Alderman gets out of PRISON of course.

There are EASY solutions to ALL of these OBVIOUS problems. All it takes is honesty and the courage to admit the truth. You know, for example, it is the POLICE's job to arrest corrupt politicians.

M & M (plain and peanut) will be the next 2 AlderThieves indicted side by side, how's that for government efficiency.
After being well protected by Daley Inc. it took 20 years for Fast Eddie Vrdolyak to finally come to his reward for real estate shenanigans.
Shakedown M & M Inc. won't have to wait that long.
Their sneaky "606" land deals pissed off both the rich and the poor constituency.
Their personal bank loans (for prime $1 lots?) total almost $2 million tied to a preferred banker (Belmont Bank), zoning lawyers (Banks Family) and plenty of builder-investors (active and defunct LLC's).
Moreno somehow managed a shakedown of a planned Fox Ford dealership that he once was sternly against.
Let's not forget his sad inability to shakedown a couple of Chik-Fil-A restaurants in his Ward.
His Lathrop Homes TIF cash cow project made up the difference.

Even the once AldThf. Mighty Ike Carothers (the Galewood-Armitsge "606") can't believe it.
No thing to make notice of is that Chicago is rapidly building residential not commercial or manufacturing.
Affordable Housing everywhere and nowhere in the civic plan are the jobs.

Note to Federal prosecutors:
Please take rotten rats Daley, Rahm and Gutierrez along for the ride when you pick up Moreno & Maldonado.

In most cities if you want a permit for anything you just go to city hall and fill out the application. In this town you have to go to the alderman's office and that is where the corruption starts. A business can't even have a sidewalk sale without the permission of the alderman who immediately sends the business a letter soliciting campaign funds. Less alderman and less power would go a long way to curbing this bad behavior, but the people with the power to change this situation are the people who most benefit from it.
