My true sympathy lies with all the "worker bees" who will lose their jobs at the Chicago/Cook County grocery stores when the
revenue and sales dry up due to this tax......Jewel, Mariano's, Meijers, Walmart, Costco, et al. will see at least a 25-35% drop in sales
within months.....because if I have to drive outside the geographical limits of this tax-me-to-death city and county, I will be doing ALL my shopping there.....

Study: Philadelphia Tax Makes Soda More Expensive Than Beer
Tax falling short of projections, forcing Philadelphians to buy soda outside of city

BY: Elizabeth Harrington
August 8, 2017 5:00 am

Philadelphia's tax on sugary drinks has made soda more expensive than beer in the city.

The Tax Foundation released a new study on the excise tax last week, finding that the 1.5-cent per ounce tax has fallen short of revenue projections, cost jobs, and has forced some Philadelphians to drive outside the city to buy groceries.

Steele would have went along with Two-Pension Porkwinkle as usual.
Arroyo was the actual decider, he changed his mind at the ballot box and a brief John Daley encounter.
Let's hope at least his Non EBT Link holder constituents can remember.
Arroyo also voted for Teo-Pension Porkwinkles 1% tax increase in 2015 too.
NW sider Silvestri (R) voted against both increases as did;
Fritchy
Boykin
Goslin
Gainer
Schneider
Sufredin can't ever make up his mind, votes No before he votes Yes to tax increases.

On the news tonight on Fox......
Another city which instituted the "sugary soda tax" has failed to produce the expected big revenue......it has resulted in only losing jobs, in the city's grocery stores, because people (and folks) who actually PAY WITH MONEY are driving outside the city to purchase their groceries and sodas.
It's Philadelphia.......and the study by a think tank in Washington DC (The Tax Foundation) says the tax is not only 24 times more for soda than for beer and alcohol, it was instituted to pay for Pre-K education. HOWEVER.....of the $39 million collected for the year, less than half went for education.......
Guess Philadelphia has a bunch of thieving politicians like we got here......
DuPage County is now my go-to shopping destination.......

- oh the alcoholic beverage tax is next, believe that.
Alcohol and tobacco consumption ara real "health" concerns.
But since EBT-LINKS isn't accepted, they get taxed on these products.
It may not qualify as a Share the Wealth money grab at this time - but PrickWanker is working on it.
Gasoline, motor oil and all petroleum based products too since production is up and prices are low.

Basically every Chicago Cook County Liquid has a tax attached to it.
Even your urine, unless you don't flush and go in the alley.

I googled the Commisioners who voted yes. A website (illinoissunshine.org) popped up. All of the following yes votes had received a minimum $10,000 "donation" from Preckwinkles, recently. Look at Sims, Moody, Chuy Garcia and Arroyo for sure.

Oh, Foxx has received $250,000, and many other money "donations" from Preckwinkle.

It's right there in black and white. Bought and paid for. Crook County style.

The blame does not lie with Preckwinkle casting the tie-breaking vote. The blame lies with the other eight idiots who put her in a position to be able to break a tie. Blame all 9 of the morons who voted for this.

Also, interesting fact: if you order your coffee with cream and sugar, they will charge you the sugar tax. If you order your coffee with just cream and then put the sugar in it by yourself at the side table, no tax.

It's a first for me, person from Madigan's office asked if it would be alright to place his sign in from of my house. My wife was standing next to me in the doorway and told Madigan's man, fuck-no. I was going to say OK and later dump the sign, but the wife went crazy on this guy. We had alley lights for over three months out, Madigan and the rest raised the State Taxes, the City's Bag Tax, and the Soda Tax by the County are all part of the Dem's. The poor guy just turned around without saying a word and walked away.

Back in the day, a Madigan lackey asked my father to place a sign in our window. My father politely told him "No." He would always come around before the election asking for my parents' vote for "his boss, Mike Madigan." My father politely told him "yes" and took his literature. When he went into the voting booth, daddy did what he damn well pleased. On the way out, the lackey always thanked him for coming out to vote.

Another friend of mine lived in the next precinct. He had an obnoxious precinct captain who harassed his whole family to get out and vote. He always voted against the chosen candidates to spite the precinct captain.

Both of these Madigan lackeys are dead now. I'm long gone from of the old neighborhood so I don't know if this stuff is still going on today.
