For those who don't know what the soda tax looks like, about 20 people sent us this picture:
Almost $3 on a $6 purchase. A-fucking-mazing. We're pretty sure that Cook County is approaching the taxation rates where, in 1773, Boston colonists were emptying ships of British tea into the harbor.

What's the 18 cent soft drink tax and who gets that?
Almost $3.00 on a $6.00 purchase? The sprite was $5.99 and then $3.67 total taxes adds to $9.66 total. It is closer to $4.00 in taxes than $3.00 in taxes.
Missed the extra 3% Chicago tax on soda .. Chicago sales tax rate is 13.25 % on soda.. PLUS $2.88 Crook County soda tax on a 24 pack ..LOL ..fool democrat ,corrupt politicians
Folks if you busy ,, send the kids out to DuPage....short ride on 55 from 08.. buy a couple months supply of soda, without Cook Tax .. Throw in $30 spending money for kids to spend ,, still come out ahead of not paying the Cook County Democrats middle class tax on soda
$3.67 (total tax)/$5.99 (item purchased)= 61.3% tax....
Soda is bad for you. Except if you're poor and on LINK, then drink away all you want and use as many paper or plastic grocery bags as you want.
Next up, Crook County will make it illegal to break out the soda tax in the receipts.
Could of saved $3.67, if used the link card.
Why throw pop in lake Michigan when you can just leave the county, or better yet state, and do ALL your shopping at 1/2 the tax rates.
Three bucks a case pays for a lot of gas. Just saying.
A 2 liter of R/C cola purchased for 99 cents will cost about $1.78. Ridiculous. Toni is too stupid to realize this will be her downfall. Even the black community will revolt against this. It actually a tax that affects the poor inner city residents the most. The ones who can't travel to Will county or Indiana like the white residents in the burbs or outer layers of Chicago. I'm gonna drive to Indiana twice a month to gas up and buy ten 2 liters of pop. Fuc* You Toni
What is the $0.18 cent soft drink tax for?
2.88 + 0.18 = $3.06
Over a 50% tax rate?
Wow! They really want to discourage the poor from drinking sodas. Imagine the positive difference that will have on the obesity and diabetes rates of the poor in Chicago and Cook County. All those people with LINK Cards will be discouraged from quaffing sugar and chemicals by these healthy taxes. Bravo!
Isn't that wonderf... Wait!? What? They don't pay the Tax!?
so mr. taxwinkle's tax is a purchased item ?
What a sick joke!!!! Why does there have to be any tax? Just buying the product creats jobs. But to pay neatly double in taxes? SICK! Hopefully this person never buys a thing again in cook county. Maybe the media will do a story on this
The crystal ball says. Watch for thefts from sodapop trucks.
Sure looks like sales tax was charged on the Toni tax.
I will not be shopping in crook county!!!
Fuck this shit hole and fuck all the dirty fucking politicians. The best way to protest this shit is to move away from this DUMP.
What is the .18 cent soft drink tax? When did the Rahm slip that in? Notice that's on top of the county one
In the twerp murder mayor's savage city two things are certain Death and Taxes...
I see the "county beverage tax" but what the hell is the "soft drink tax"?
After ALL the taxes the total purchase price is almost $10 on a $6 purchase. Wow just wow.
I'm doing all my shopping in Indiana!
The drive alone is cheaper than paying the thieving cook county taxes!
Just fill up the trunk, on my once a month trip across state lines!
By the way, Fuck You Rahm and Toni
Da Pelon
I see a lot of grocery stores closing and workers getting laidoff in in cook county!
Bet the farm on this one!
Who the fuck needs a 24-pack of Sprite?
At 50% taxation, let the shit go out of date
on the shelf. This is an example of decades
long failed mismanagement and a last straw
attempt to remedy the wrongs of the past
via punitive taxation. It never works folks.
Send your soda tax receipts to the White House.
The soft drink industry has lobbyists. Let them know.
This tax has incompetency and desperation written
all over it. Are the bureaucrats creating an underground
industry wherein soda is transported in from tax friendly
locales, then sold as loosies on the streets?
Mountain Dew is the beverage most frequently out in medical
center vending machines because it fuels the Doctors staying up
all night to save lives. This is really going to come down to
"I can't breathe" in the long run. Really.
Tax on top of a tax, on top of another tax!
This city and county really sucks!
Time to move!
Even Orange juice is hit with the tax what is wrong with these politicians?
Japanese tourists will stay away in droves.
You lose the hotel room tax, the rental car tax,
the sporting event ticket tax.
More proof that Cook county should be broken up in half!
It is too big and wasteful county, run by thieving idiots!
Its for your health! That's why I'm not buying anything in cook county.
How can the number of items be 2 on the receipt? The tax is now a taxable item itself?
Doesn't mean much to me. I stopped shopping in the city/county years ago. Saving money wasn't the primary objective more so than making sure I don't give those leaches any more to waste. I'm curious what the softdrink tax is.
Link Card people don't pay the tax. Anyway I don't care how much taxes rise. I'm still voting Democratic, because I'm an idiot.
I have an idea. Instead of driving to another county for cigarettes and pop, just move .
A can of sprite is only a quarter before taxes????
My god. The tax is almost as bad as the crud under that dude's fingernail
Don't do any shopping in Cook county! DuPage is on the other side of the airport. There's a Jewel right on York road.
It says there were 2 items sold, but I only see the Sprite. Does the County tax count as a sold item?
I buy everything in Indiana 😂😂😂 everything.
It' is a vice tax..
How's is only taxing a certain segment of the population legal? How is adding an extra 3% tax to other areas legal? Especially when the other areas are predominately white. That's like taxing flaming hot chips in englewood, Gresham, toseland, ETC... hopefully this bites them all in the ass
Have any friends or family with a Link card?
Offer to reimburse them cash for buying you soda.
So Instead of prohibiting link card users from purchasing sugar drinks and candy, potato chips and other junk foods for more healthy snacks they just exempt them from the tax, this is just PRECWINKLE being afraid of pushing the poor voters over the edge. Fuck this Cook County, I don't drink pop but make my purchase outside Chicago and cook county
Anyone know where to buy pop in Dupage? Like off of Irving Park? I'll fill up the back of the truck before I pay this jagoffs tax.
Plus 18 cents beverage tax, and 10.25 (.61) sales tax...$3.67 on a 5.99 item! And the and the last two taxes are taxed on the sum of the subtotal which includes the cook county beverage tax.
Somehow I know the forefathers didn't have this in mind. Torches, and Pitchforks anyone???
I thought not....
Why two items?
Soda and tax?
Tax it again, Tony
Time to do ALL your shopping in surrounding counties or states (if you're close enough)
I ain't payin' no $3 for the grape pop I'm havin' for breakfast!
tax dirty to me
Toni Bullwinkle does not care. The takes care of enough of the great unwashed to sway any election.
I hear Purolator, Brinks, Dunbar and Illinois Armored are now offering their employees 'Special Employment' on their RDO to ride shotgun on Pepsi and Coke trucks.
The 011 District King joined B.A. and myself and drove out to Indiana in B.A.'s van. We loaded up on Soda, Sweetened beverages and water. We also did some grocery shopping while we were out there. With all the savings in Taxwrinkle, 9.5 and Mad-I-gun taxes we were able to buy 2 cases of ammo. We then stopped off at Horseshoe casino and, watched the 011 District King win a small fortune at the table. We had one hell of a day and didn't spend 1 cent in Illinois.
It is well worth the trip to cross the state line.
PS. We even filled up B.A.'s van while in Indiana.
Col Hannibal Smith
A-TEAM
I took a nice leisurely drive to a neighboring county with the intention of just buying about a months supply of diet soda. Instead, I ended up buying some other groceries as well (more $ crook county lost out on) along with the 4 2-liters and 3 12-packs of diet soda ($16.00 in total soda). The final tally was $74.53 with only $2.26 tax.
The neighboring counties should send prickswindle a thank you card. They already have signs out advertising that there is no cook county sweetened drink tax and welcoming the new customers.
Day five.
I have still not bought anything covered by the tax.
When will the geniuses realize this 8s going to cost them sales tax revenue?
Hundred bucks at Costco in Kenosha, ten bucks that does not go to the machine.
Pleasant drive, cheap gas, lower tax, win win.
The separate "soft drink tax" is from Rahm Emanuel and the City of Chicago. The city added the tax before Toni Bullwinkle came up with a "beverage tax" of her own. Not to be outdone, Toni made her tax more expensive than the city's tax.
Just add another 7 cents for a bag! This is crazy even people who don't think right may start thinking right and protest this bull shit!!!
The retailers should mark their receipts..DEMOCRAT TAX...to get the attention of the crooked democRAT party bosses. Ox maybe the TAXWINKLE TAX/
Rocks! Blow! Soda!

What is the $0.18 cent soft drink tax for?
8/06/2017 01:12:00 AM
Rahm's vacation home. Now pay up.
Take all sugary taxed items directly to Customer Service and get a refund. Merchants will get the message fast.
At McDonald's, ask if the Value Meal with drink has a soda tax, then purchase something without a soft drink attached. So much for a $15 am hour job if nobody is buying the garbage.
Out of principle, drive outside the county to buy your soft drinks.
Fuck Prickwinkle and the horse she rode in on.
They would love nothin more than
coming up with:
"Well if you're a Cook County resident, avoiding
the tax by shopping somewhere else is "illegal"
and punishable by fine/imprisonmemt."
Sort of like the nasty shit-talk aimed at out-of-city/
out-of-state Police retirees:
"If you're getting a Chicago Police pension, then
you should still be required to live in the city.
Why should you guys be allowed to take all
that "taxpayer money" out of the city/out of
the state?"
The liberal/progressive hates you for exercising
sound judgement/escaping their overreach...
This is how you get Trump...
That the 870,000 food stamp recipients of Cook counties 5.1 million residents are exempt from paying this tax is all you need to know about who the democrats core constituency has become.
Don't forget the income tax that they just increase! Property taxes, water bill, City sticker, plate sticker etc. where does it stop!!
The FOP better fucking fight tooth and nail to lift the residency requirement! Only bargaining chip we have.
How is it that the beverage tax appears before the subtotal? This would mean you are paying sales tax on the beverage tax. Something's wrong here, I've seen this on other receipts as well. Can you legally be taxed on a tax? I guess in crook county anythings possible.
Thank Mr Daley for the city tax
he snuck that one in a few years ao
Lars Pilsen
Life will take me up to Lake County this week. I plan to stock up AND get it all bagged for free. FU Toni!
-Not a Cop, Just a Mom
Please don't pay their currupt taxes! Make the drive to neighboring counties!
receipt says "2" items yet is only for 1...do they really add a nearly 50% soda tax to subtotal & then sales tax that tax?
receipt seems awfully fishy
how about posting some real receipts for "1" item, a 6 pk, a 12 pk or a case of soda pop ?
The American Beverage Assn. fight against Porkwinkle isn't over yet.
Beverage companies should just slow and eventually stop deliveries to Cook County.
I don't think there's a contractural obligation for beverage companies/distributors to supply their products.
Restaurants and taverns/bars should be on board too.
There's no end to other creative revenue schemes if this sugar pop tax is allowed to exist.
Because the next beverage tax will be on alcoholic beverages.
Who ever thought the Democrats could tax a tax.
Water tax bills are coming due. Rahm touts the 100,000 Water Meter installations.
Guess what folks, a "per-flush" tax is being studied.
Dump Porkwinkle and her band of loyal commissioners.
Hello will county!
Ordered pizza friday night with the usual so much off and a free liter of cola coupon. The girl asks me if I wanted to add the liter of cola to the order for an additional .99. I laughed and asked her if it was because of the sugar drink tax. She said yes. I declined and told her I don't even drink pop. I drink milk with my pizza. Lol-"liter of cola."
And don't double bag it, cause you'll pay another 14 cents.
I've heard the next tax that's coming, is a tax on toilet paper. Your taxed per sheet, and every time you wipe your ass. It's time for a revolt like the Boston Tea Party.
Sorry I can't provide a receipt showing the tax on a pack of cigarettes as I already buy them in Will or Dupage county or IN. But I pay about 6.00 for a pack while I know a few people that buy them here and pay at least 11.00. And I get gas while out there , now I will also grocery shop (not just for pop).
I went out to dinner on Friday. I drank water I told my wife that I'm not giving anymore money to this county then I have to. At least until my house sells. Then I won't have to give them any.
Taxed three times on the same item. That's awesome!!
I just drive down 55 to shopping area's near Bollingbrook. I timed it from Central, 15 minutes. If I'm going to save 30-40% on purchases in Will County, the short road trip is worth it. If I'm doing business more east, I'll go to Cabelas to buy ammo avoiding the Cook County gun/ammo tax. If I'm purchasing a firearm, I order it on line and have it sent to Bass Pro Shop and pay the transfer fee again avoiding the Cook County Tax. Oh, and gas is cheaper in Will or almost anywhere else then City or County Oh I almost forget, fuck this City, County and the Mayor.
maybe just maybe, the machine voting sheeple will see the light..........
Hey, does the "FD" on the soda tax line stand for "Fucking Democrats!"?
i sure hope all the keyboard rambos stick to their words
shop out of cook county
do not vote for any incumbent
6% raises or Toni and crew days after it goes into effect.
fucking howdy doody stroger is laughing his ass off
can we get a real candidate to run for cook county prez??
richard boykin seems ready.......
We are going back in time. The once a month trip into town to stock up on supplies for the farm. Only now town is anywhere outside cook county, even better if it outside Illinois. Get the 150.00 freezer Menards has on sale. Put some storage shelves in the basement and stock up once a month. Jewel and mariano's dairy expires the day after you buy it. Costco and aldi are usually dated 2 weeks out. Cut out the last minute runs to the corner store.
To all my friends in Beverly and Mt. Greenwood part of Tinley Park is Will County and Indiana is an 18 minute drive. Boycott Chicago and Cook County, I been doing it for years.
If you vote Democrat and more specifically for Preckwinkle hahaha you deserve it. Don't cry.
20 minute ride to Indiana or 20 minute to Dupage County from now on. Screw this place and the tax and spend democrats
"soft drink tax"
MPEA/Chicago City syrup tax...
I went to Jewel a day before the tax took affect, the "pop" isle was almost empty, all of some of the Diet Coke product was sold out. Yesterday I went to the same Jewel. The shelves were full, almost nothing gone. I don't know what this means exactly but it don't look good for merchants. The check out kid said nobody is buying soda or any of the other stuff, ice tea etc. what a stupid tax.
Did anyone notice, the tax is being taxed? Now you get taxed one cent per ounce and that is added to the subtotal and THEN the city taxes the Cook County tax at 10.25%. Talk about a racket!!!
does the cashier have to push any kind of "Swear to it" button when "Ouncing up" ? or does bar code provide taxable ounces ?
Fat Finger on a "Swear To It" button can be evidence enough to get you convicted for tax fraud....gotta make an example out of a few cashiers for sure
That soft drink tax is countywide and has been in effect for probably 25 years.
God damn!
Johnny Kass 's column today hits on the head . 2 democrat constituencies .. link carders and the wealthy with their $9 Starbucks, don't pay the Cook County,Il soda tax .. only the middle class is stuck paying the tax tab .. once again
Crook County ,Il Revolt folks!!!! .. or more taxes with just be layered on the Illinois middle class.. by democrats..
Here is another thing I think that Toni fails to account for. Not only will people drive outside the county to make their pop purchases to avoid the tax, they will also be stocking up on a whole lot more, like cigs, liquor, food and clothing while they are there. Ain't exactly like they are just buying their pop and then return to Cook County to do the rest of their shopping. And why would they? EVERYTHING is a whole lot cheaper once you're outside of Crook County, so why not make the most of it? I know I would, and in fact I do. I think the economic impact is going to be a whole lot bigger than Prickwanker expects.
Tip of the iceberg, as they say.
Went to Dupage county the other day to avoid all the taxes. Ended up buying over $300 in groceries along with "sugary drinks" So now cook county missed out on more than just me buying sugary drinks. Local businesses lose to on other items. Also got gas too. The best thing for businesses in surrounding counties are Chicago and Cook County politicians. What dopes they are.
What's the "FD" after the $2.88 Cook County Tax entry stand for?
Fuckin' Democrats!
And in other news.
New state holiday.
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/345523-illinois-makes-barack-obama-day-a-state-holiday

Is it possible to buy it online to avoid the tax?

Your pizza place is also trying to rip you off. 99 cents for a liter of pop. A liter is 33.8 ounces. The penny an ounce would be 34 cents, even a 2 liter would only be 68 cents
Costco:
$9.99 for a 24 bottle case of Propel "water." Tax $4.05. Do they really think we're going to consistently pay this? They're going to lose more money by everyone going outside of CC to shop for all their goods. Greedy stupid democrats.
Our founding fathers would have tarred and feathered these crooked politicians of today.
Yah in dupage county?
psst, hey bro wanna buy sixpack coke
I roll my own cigarettes #1.00 a pack.
The citizens are leaving in droves to not be robbed or enslaved so there is no one to pay their salaries. Now the people still here will have to pay for those who have moved. Most businesses would cut back on staff which would mean cut the Alderman not just city and state employees.
i admit i don't know any of the details of this new tax...but when i bought a couple boxes of protein shakes at Costco today(Crook Cty), i was told by the cashier at checkout that each box (which cost $20) now gets taxed $2 ... the thing that surprised me was that each of these 12 oz. protein shakes has a grand total of ONE gram of sugar ! W. T. F.
Oh yes, by the way, munch on my marble sack Toni & Rahm (and the rest of you dirty scumbag politicians....your day IS coming , so enjoy your crime & thievery now while you can !! )
Nursing home residents who get $30/month from their SSI as spending money are being hit with this tax at the pop machine.
The Cook County board "should be ashamed of itself, but lacks the capacity."
*
"Reusable bag?" USGI LC-1 rucksack. Drink anything but Cook County pop.
So there.
Let us not forget. The vote was even yes/no on the soda tax. The wrinkled wang wallet cast the deciding vote. She/it owns this tax. Remember that for the next elec......oh never mind.
It's coming to be like when I was a kid hanging out behind the liquor store trying to get someone to buy us beer. Now I hang out by the Jewel trying to get someone with a Oh S.N.A.P. card to buy me pop at the cheaper rate.

The only people (or folks) that are exempt from the C.C Soda tax are those that use SNAP....since Federal Law prohibits taxing SNAP purchases.
Why you can buy luxury items with SNAP is something that has always bugged me though.
Finance Guy on a Bike.
When will CPD be ordered to pull over cars whose drivers are "suspected" of having been over the border buying stuff, thus dodging the various taxes?
"License, proof of insurance, and grocery receipt, please..."At this point I don't think I am that off-base.
- Not a LEO
This tax is outrageous, but it would not surprise me to see the ill-informed liberal voters re-elect Preckwinkle for another term!
However, this tax will not generate nearly as much money as Preckwinkle claims it will and receipts from other sales and restaurant taxes will decrease, as other have suggested. I go to the same fast food places I frequented before the soda tax, although I did not purchase any soda now as I refuse to pay this tax. So the overall amount of sales tax I paid was less than it would have been prior to the soda tax. I feel particularly badly for the restaurants as many of them have such tight margins that some will lose a lot of money and may go out of business. So the county will also receive less in income tax from businesses which fail as a result of this tax! I suspect that this tax will be repealed within the next two years
A sad riddle: What one item can you buy at a $1 Store and end up paying almost $2 for it? A 2 liter bottle of Coke and the sales tax and sugar tax will almost double the price...
Then over here you have to pony up $42,000+ to send your kid to Loyola but if your here illegally it's free:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-arrupe-college-loyola-university-met-20170805-198-story.html
Excerpt:Arrupe's students are among the city's most vulnerable — and not just because they often cannot afford tuition. Many students or their parents are living in the U.S. illegally and face the threat of deportation. Some experience homelessness or food insecurity. Others are young parents. Many live in crime-plagued neighborhoods, have lost close relatives to gun violence and avoid taking late-day classes because they are afraid to use public transportation at night.
Free housing, food, school, health care while rahm took away health care from Chicago police officers retirees, and is shorting police pension fund and boldly violating federal immigration laws costing the city millions in lost revenue from the government for police officers and equipment great job the carnage at all time highs and this is done! Insanity is alive and well here!

You...are dumb.
I remember when Ohio Tax Commission agents used to sit on the border and watch Ohioans cross the Ohio River at Cincinnati, buy liquor at Kentucky's SUBSTANTIALLY LOWER prices, then come back across the river. They got busted, liquor confiscated, sizable fine.
Those days are long gone, thankfully, but I'll lay dollars to donuts it won't be long until the same damned thing starts in Crook County. "Pop open that U-Haul, boy, we think you got you some bootleg Coca-Cola there !!!".
Please...! It's for the children...more $ will go to the schools for Pete's sake! More money for dumber kids!

Will gladly pop open the trunk as soon as you show me the warrant. End of case and no search. You cant get probable cause to search a car because you say someone in a suburb. How many people have been arrested for buying cigarettes in Indiana , let alone a surrounding suburb
Plus if you are stupid enough to open the trunk, you deserve to have the pop confiscated

Holy moly! What year are we talking here? 1800's?
I do all my shopping in Arizonal
Realizing many of the posters here are frustrated here are some nuggets that are overlooked. First, SNAP users are unable to purchase a freshly cooked rotisserie chicken and prepared meal. Yes that is true. That is cheaper than a uncooked chicken. Second, Starbucks and other premium coffee establishments are also exempt from the tax. Think about for a second. So in reality, what would bring in the most money? SNAP or the average Starbucks consumer? And here is a list of other taxes and fees that are outrageous that we all pay and get nothing for Hotel tax (25%), parking fees, city sticker, state sticker, license, bottled water. We all get it. I will never receive a pension. Speaking of pensions, so where is the lawsuit against Vanecko for stealing your money?

Thanks for the heads up. The Jewel is located at the corner of Grand Avenue and York Avenue. I checked Google maps and it's right outside of Cook County. Kept thinking that York was the dividing line having worked at O'Hare, it's actually Mt. Prospect Road (County Line Road further south). Information appreciated. Google didn't list Jewel when I looked for grocery stores on their map earlier.

Recall that authorities were busing Illinoisans bringing back fireworks about 15-20 years ago. Even if Preckwinkle and Rahmulus wanted to do this, good luck since we all have Illinois plates on our vehicles.
Anybody that lives in 008, just do like I did. Take 55 South and get off Countyline Road (north). Make a left on 55th street and go to the jewels in claredon hills, Dupage county. Buy all your soft drinks, beer, smokes..water.. groceries over there, with all the plastic bags you need. And make sure you fill up on gas at the BP just 2 blocks away from jewels. Fuck Crook county.
What's the closest place to buy soda out of cook county ? From 16 or 22 or 15 districts

They better bring a search warrant to search my car.
New pool. Which district will have the first theft of a soda truck.
Here is a question: if every Republican in Cook County who normally votes in the Republican primary pulled a Democratic primary ballot in 2018 would there be enough numbers to elect a primary challenger to some of these Democratic County office holders , in particular prickwinle and dart? Whoever the Democrat nominee is is going to win in the general election so we might as well try to get rid of some of these assholes for another asshole.
Yet another reason to just drink water. Or is air and water going to be fair game too?
The Idiots running Illinois will probably make it a statewide tax to "level the playing field". Stupid is as stupid does.
2 items: two 12 packs = case.
"" receipt says "2" items yet is only for 1...do they really add a nearly 50% soda tax to subtotal & then sales tax that tax?
receipt seems awfully fishy
how about posting some real receipts for "1" item, a 6 pk, a 12 pk or a case of soda pop ? ""
---------------------------------------------------
The receipt is real !
The County Beverage TAX is counted as the second item and is taxed along with the pop.
I only shop in Indiana, but again, I have a second home (wink wink) there.

The only people (or folks) that are exempt from the C.C Soda tax are those that use SNAP....since Federal Law prohibits taxing SNAP purchases.
Why you can buy luxury items with SNAP is something that has always bugged me though.

Rahm's welcoming city - where illegals get freee SNAP cards and are immune to paying a sugar tax.
Took a nice drive to Merrillville IN yesterday for lunch and ended up shoppiny too. Tons of stores and everyone is nice to you. If you need a quick trip, Hammond is also good stop for Walmart, Cabalas and other stores further south on Indianapolis. Also hitting farmstands on the roads up there for fresh produce during the summer. Gassed up before heading home. Only thing is we found ourselves getting depressed once we crossed back into Illinois. We go to Indiana 1-2 times a month. Not giving these thieving politicians another penny.

Depends on which online retailer you buy from.
Some don't charge any sales tax, but they usually have a markup to begin with . . . and some of them bend you over brutally on the shipping charges. (Stateville style, no lube, from lights out to wakey-wakey time)
Let's see . . . Google Coke 12 pack . . . switch to "shopping" tab . . . (1st item at top of page) click . . . compare prices . . .
Staples $14.49 + $0.77 tax + $9.95 shipping
Uh . . . no thanks.
Walmart - S and K Wholesale, LLC
$17.01 No tax Free shipping
Pffffft! Eat me raw through a Flav-r-straw!
CudaKitchen.com $17.99 no tax + $22.48 shipping - Gobble my gonads!
Bonanza - panther44's booth $20.00, no tax,
free shipping . . . I'll pass
Bonanza - Best Deals Boutique's ...
$20.56 No tax Free shipping . . . Best Deals? Really?
groceryeshop.us $20.92 No tax +$3.99 shipping
Blow me
ConcessionSite.com $17.99 No tax +$22.48 shipping . . . Fuck off and drown in a vat of dinosaur diarrhea
ShopFoodEx.com $18.99+$0.47 tax +$9.99 shipping . . . Why not just be honest and do this at gunpoint?
Those are my first page results. Not many deals to be had online. Since you still have to make the trip for your perishable items anyway, why bother?
Some of youse guys need to make a few friends at the local distributor and bottling plants, capiche? 'tis the Chicago Way after all . . .

They will never get search warrants not practical or feasible also for probable cause the po will have to saw he saw you purchase the pop. If a search does not produce pop in the trunk the officer just committed perjury procuring the warrant Also big difference between going from state to state versus driving into a suburb next to chicago

The store has a big sign on the outside. The name is all over those plastic bags you mention. They have commercials on the radio and tv. The fucking name is Jewel. Jewels are what you should be kicked in when you say it wrong. Do you know anyone who lives on Woods street? Do you go to Mac Donald's? Does your moms shop at the jewels too? You drive one of those Dodge entrapments? Oh, and it's Clarendon Hills. Reading isn't really all that hard.

You missed a key part of the story, Mr. Roadside Lawyer. They watched them buy the liquor and load up the cars. If they see you buying the "contraband" and tossing it in your trunk, they don't need a warrant. This is real life, not a Jay-Z song. Please tell me you're not the police.
8/06/2017 11:13:00 PM
Why do I care if they can't buy a cooked chicken? SNAP shouldn't even exist. How many handouts do you think people need? They already scam the welfare, social security, and LINK card programs. Now they get SNAP to take advantage of too. The rest of the law-abiding, tax-contributing, job-having citizens already pay for the lion's share of these freeloaders' existence: rent for their section 8 apartments, healthcare, education, cell phones, etc. Meanwhile, these "poor" people keep buying their Escalades, big screen TVs, drugs, expensive clothing and jewelry, and whatever other nonsense luxury items. So they can't buy a cooked chicken with this specific portion of the free money they're given for scamming the system? Boo fucking hoo. My heart bleeds for the useless leeches. Why don't you buy them a rotisserie chicken? Maybe they'll rob you when you try to hand it to them.
How long till a spike up in Tractor/trailers laden with Sugary beverages get hijacked.

Freeze pops are also taxed.

You take your jewels to seriously. Although your editing is correct. Chicago speak although not acceptable for a term paper, just in case you're writing. Colloquialisms do add flavor to a "Shicago Blog". In my southside neighborhood we say "Jewels", That west burb off 55, Claritin hills!, yeah dat one! Loumis not Low miss, you know east of woods!

So you are saying if I'm in Indiana visiting my brother in law and on the way home I stop for a few cases of pop they can stop my car, search it and confiscate the pop
Roadside lawyer thinks there is no law on the books that states a Cook county resident has to buy his pop in Cook county. Don't need to be a lawyer to figure that out. Soda tax law says if you buy your soda in Cook county you will have to pay 1 cent an ounce tax
I don't have a map of Cook county. How do I know what county I'm in when I walk into Jewel. There will be no enforcement of this.
Case you were talking about is in Ohio where there have laws and enforce them penalties
Can't spend any more time, am studying for my GED so I can go to college and then law school. It's getting harder because I have to shake the tail on my car and then look over my shoulder in Jewel to keep the soda pop agents from arresting me

By the way, what is the fine for buying pop outside Cook county. You think residency is restrictive, now Toni is going to tell me where I have to buy my pop. Will never happen and there won't be any agents watching you

Roadside lawyer here. So you think if I buy some pop aka contraband outside of cook county these agents can search my car and confiscate the pop.
Please tell me you are not the police if this is real life to you. Wish you luck when when in real life you do this.
This is real life. You make me want to laugh

If this is real life what do they do with the contraband?Take it home?. What rd number? what charge covers this real life crime? What's the bond? The fine? Sounds to me like you have been being the real life police and confiscating a few beers from the kids drinking beer at the beach

To you and the other "lawyers" questioning my response, I was responding to someone who thought police need a warrant to search a vehicle when they already know it contains contraband. This was in response to the guy who thought the liquor situation in Ohio would be replicated here with the pop tax. I don't hold the delusional belief that police will be posted up on the border, watching people buy Pepsi, and then stopping them to search their vehicles and arrest them for dodging the pop tax. I was simply responding to the idiotic idea that the police would need a warrant if such a thing were ever to occur. My point was illustrated nicely when various Illinois police agencies stopped vehicles returning from Indiana to seize illegal fireworks. They weren't getting search warrants, and they didn't need them. They watched people buy the fireworks, load them into their cars, and then drive into Illinois. It's called probable cause. The police know what that is. I'm sorry you all don't. Please educate yourselves.

Very well written What I think you meant to say was that various Illinois police agencies SAID they watched people buy fireworks in Indiana and didn't need a warrant to search the car. Most people weren't aware that Illinois police went into Indiana to witness these purchases, especially the ones in marked cars who made the stops in Illinois. My guess would be that most people would not purchase the fireworks in Indiana with an Illinois marked squad sitting there in Indiana, if they are even allowed to go to or enter Indiana for that purpose. I would also imagine that quite a few cars were stopped entering Illinois and were told they were observed buying fireworks and that because of that a warrant wasn't needed and they were more than happy to allow the search because the truck was empty. How could that be, we saw you make the purchase and put the fireworks in the trunk but they are not there. But you are probably right, Illinois officers enter another state for this purpose.
Once a week I take the family to Lake County. Visit some friends and do our shopping. Zero dollars spent in Chicago or Crook County. ZERO!
If you don't think Toni can enact a Cook County ordinance covering evasion of county tax in the time it takes you wipe your ass then you are crazy. It's probably never gonna happen, just because it's impractical, but don't be so fucking dense to think that it can't be done.

You are contradicting yourself. You say it won't happen because it's impractical but in the same sentence you say people are dense that it can't be done
Bottom line, its not happening
