Com Ed No-Go Zones?
Anyone know anything about ComEd establishing "no-go" zones for their work crews? Places they aren't permitted to go without Guardian Security or someone similar watching over them and their equipment?

Com Ed has a "red zone" where crews are protected by a bonafide, reputable security company which hires only active or retired peace officers for that detail. The same company also provides security for AT&T and the National Pipeline company (NPL). You can find the company's posting on The Blue Line under "armed, off duty security."

Yep! Tis true! Had a fire which affected tiny portion of Wrigley few weeks prior. ComEd showed, and related they have orders/advice to await "eyes" before heading out to "certain areas"!
TRUE! I work for the security company that has a contract with ComEd. They have Red Zones where they are mandated to call the security guard (off duty police officer) to stand guard over them while they work if they get dispatched to their Red Zones. This is 24/7, not just nights.
There was a note up in the hallway of 010 about Comed staging in the lot with Off-duty/retired coppers. Appears to still be going on.
True! There are areas where they will not go without an off-duty, armed police officer. Especially when it comes to disconnecting service, which could lead to Ugly Confrontations. But not to worry,if Da Man disconnects your electricity, there is a "Brutha" driving around in a converted Good Humor ice cream truck known as Mr. Electric. The truck has lightning bolts on the side, I kid you not! For a reasonable fee, Mr. Electric will illegally "Connect" yo ass to some Sparks! And those working in the Southside Districts will attest to having seen him and his truck. If Com Ed was really smart, they would hire "Mr. Electric" as a Consultant on how electricity is being stolen. But then Mr. Electric would have to work on a schedule and pay taxes on his income. That is pretty smart. Don't put your employees in harms way. I'm sure they are probably sick of having things stolen or destroyed. Who really pays for power in the ghetto anyway. If Com Ed gets away with this I'm sure others will follow suit.

In 011 meter readers work in pairs and followed by s security car. Also, other crews are followed by marked security vehicle. Madison/Pulaski area.
My pretty neighborhood is not a red zone. The biggest problem the workers by me have is me watching their butts in those fabulous work jeans.

Bootlegging electric and gas is an epidemic on the south and westside of the city. Bomb and Arson often observes illegal connections of service when investigating fires. What I don't understand, when service is cut off there's no inspections. The gas company conducts inspections and sometimes I'm inspected twice a year, but they don't inspect the red zones much.
I'm pretty sure they won't go to most parts of "the community" without armed escorts.

It's Northern pipeline co.and they do both com ed and people's gas and nicro gas and currently water pipes for city of chicago.they are the lowest paying security group around at $19an hour but you do get to make your own hours.
A lot of electric crews have been pulled south to work at restoring service in Texas and Florida after he hurricanes. There have also been retired and off duty cops hired at $600 a day food and lodging included for protection of high value commercial areas.
The electric companies will be busy. Every major car company says they will be producing electric cars in the near future. The info I have is that it takes 75 amps of a 100 amp household electric system to charges one of these cars. And that a city block could not charge more than four such cars without causing a local brownout. Electric grid upgrades will be needed and as I recall we pay the highest electric rates in the country. Fueling electric cars will not be cheap and the Democommunists will be skimming their cut.

As it pertains to disconnects, why do you think the power companies are moving to "smart meters"? With them, they can disconnect remotely, so nobody need enter the "no go zones".
As journalists expand the no go zones, because the "residents of the community" will steal their camera equipment, wallets, jewelry and then beat em up too, so too will energy providers, fire crews and yes, even police. Heck police already do it and yall know it.
Your "superiors" already have a gazillion cops patrolling areas with TINY crime, like parking violations cited, speeding a bit and blinker infractions deemed a productive day, while known drug corners/houses straight gangster businesses operate without seeing a patrol car for weeks. OK so maybe cops are on SLOW GO, rather than NO GO but the outcome is the same.
Why did Hillary Clinton lose? Well, politicians have go zones and no go zones. She had a few too many no go zones and lost it because of it. The same is going to happen to all those who play no go.
One person talked about a private sparkie arranging "reconnect" service. Well, cable companies had to go with Boxes INSIDE to combat "reconnects" like that. They just couldn't stop that outside, so they moved it inside. Power companies can't do that, but they can go smart meters so they can make no go zones into go zones - only going there in cyber space.
This is why they want EVERYTHING electric. Who needs car chase authority, when you can cut off power and stop any car you want to?
The funny thing is that a developer can build a row of homes in these zones and some yuppie hipster snowflakes will pay top dollar for the urban experience. Idiots.
Off duty coppers have been paired with Peoples Gas employees out in the field for years.

What a grateful class of people. What a group of deplorables. What Happened. The areas have the greatest concentration of non-paying getting my utilities paid everything for free voting bloc that to our democrat led politicians have created. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program ( LIHEAP) assures that so many get free utilities with no strings attached in these poor communities. Someone else pays for their light, heat, air and stove utility. More government to the rescue.
Don't forget you are privileged with the ability to pay your own utilities. Pay your bills and accepted the hidden costs to help others. And if you fail to pay your utility bill, remember you surrendered your social security number to these monopolistic utility companies. Big utilities can leverage threats via credit bureaus and collection agencies should you fail to pay your bill which includes paying a myriad of federal, state,county and municipal taxes. Pay those bills and help those who are everyday, chronically worse off than privilaged you and in the eyes of progressives, more needy and hopeless in need of change.

I get updated feeds to my laptop regularly about crime scenes and no-go zones. We are told to just reschedule our work. ComEd in the city.
ComEd is going around and pulling pennies from meters and yanking extension cords from street light poles.
It's not like there's meters to read or bills to collect.
Probably the easiest job at ComEd is a 010 meter reader, he makes 4 stops a day...sorta like a daytime tact guy.
Com Ed has Armed Guards at numerous worksites, most in Crookago and Crook County. A great Company that cares about their Employees safety.

What would be "fair" is for ComEd to charge a security surcharge for neighborhoods who require a security team for a maintenance call. Why should safe (white) neighborhoods like mine pay even a penny a month extra because the animals have turned their neighborhoods into war zones?
