After not bringing a single case of political corruption to justice, Lisa Madigan is moving on:
- Attorney General Lisa Madigan will not seek re-election in 2018, she announced on Friday morning.
“After serving as Attorney General for over 14 years, today I am announcing that I will not seek reelection,” Madigan said in a statement. "I still have much work to do on many important issues, and I will continue to give my best to the people of Illinois and the Office of Attorney General every day through the end of my term in 2019."
So after covering for her father for the past 14 years and continuing on for another 2 years yet, what awaits the "qualified only by last name" Attorney General whose biggest accomplishments remain a "dangerous toys lies" released every Christmas shopping season?
We're betting it's another statewide office or possible judgeship.

It was amazing to me to see some of my Farcebook chums yibble on about what a great job Lisa had done. I honestly wanted to ask "What? Not prosecuting the crooks you always vote in?", because I really couldn't think of ANYTHING she'd done. Not just anything I approved of, but ANYTHING.

I predict Ann Burke will step down from Illinois Supreme Court and she will run for that. That's the word on the street anyways, just hope we can have an actual attorney general , one that actually prosecutes crimes and is not a consumer safety advocate only.

The country was meant to be governed by citizen politicians. Leave your job to serve a term or two then go back home. Our government has devolved into a family business. How many from the Bush family do we need to be president? J.J. Jackson was right when he said " stay out da bushes." United States Senator, Illinois Governor, Chicago Mayor and Illinois State Senator all take up too much time, the same as does the Illinois Attorney General position. "Is She Going To Be Here Today?" Lisa needs a job where she can phone it in and delegate, delegate, delegate. The Illinois Supreme Court is right up her alley. When the vacancy occurs, it will fit Lisa like a glove.

I met her at a festival in Champaign a couple of years ago. Very friendly, polite and was warmly received by the crowd. I'd have to see what her political positions are, but the fact that she's GOP is a plus.
Lisa Madigan has already been an Illinois State Senator (her second clouted job), so it is difficult to see her returning to the legislature. In fact, given the financial crises created by "Daddy Dearest," Illinois legislators have been obliged to put in some long hours in recent sessions, including special sessions, so the legislature is not going to be a softer job than AG.
