More Wasted Money?

  • Prompted in part by high-profile complaints about police use of force, the U.S. government in recent years has allocated tens of millions of taxpayer dollars for body cameras for state and local police departments – and those states and municipalities have invested millions of their own dollars as well.

But a study released Friday reveals that body cameras have little to no effect on police behavior. Officers wearing the devices act similarly to those who don’t, the study concludes.

And there is no significant difference in citizen complaints about camera-wearing officers versus those without cameras, the study says.
And the true cost isn't even realized yet. Remember - the cameras were free in most cases. The cost?
  • Storage
When that bill starts coming due, well, you won't hear politicians complaining. They'll just raise taxes again. But it's telling that the study doesn't find any difference in officer behavior. Human nature wins out every time. And the complainers are always going to complain, regardless if the officer is wearing a camera of not. The only way to change that is to prosecute the lying complainants as provided in State Law - the State Law that Foxxx won't follow.

We aren't certain, but with 020 getting cameras this month, we think that 100% of the Districts are now video equipped. No word on the Units yet.

Storage: the magic word
Like the business model of pharmaceutical
companies, blood glucose testing meters
are FREE (after mail in rebate to cover purchase
cost). Companies make their money on the testing
strips which diabetics must purchase for the remainder
of their lives.
The money is in the medicine, not the cure.
Actually there is very little incentive to cure patients;
they return to the Doctor for check-ups and their
disease state is merely maintained.
Sure the cameras were free. More profit margin
in storage (archiving, you know, for legal reasons).

hey does it bother anyone else that once a week we get an email blast from the FOP and its just a story linked to Priebs blog? Every week its just about the innocence project and it always comes back to one story.. Alstory simon and Anthony Porter. Hey Marty, we got it. They are crooked and its all a racket. Listen, youre not a writer any more. The hobby of wrongful conviction game needs to go on the back burner to Union business. I know its crappy, but he is 2nd VP now and we are in contract talks. I would love for him to focus on the wrongful conviction movement but he was elected to represent us against the city and protect us from the department. Every day you hear about someone getting railroaded by IPRA/COPA, IAD or bosses. You gotta pick marty, wrongful conviction hobby or union business representing us against the city and in contract talks. We also have heard about the Glen Evans story so if you plan on reading this and writing about that we got it already.. along with the guy who rapped and burned people.. you've beat that dead horse also. Listen, get to union business or get out... but then again, getting rid of Kathy Moore just about sealed your fate anyway along with Murray.

Yes, you too can have the latest gadgets,
no matter what the price. iPhone X: no
problem; no cash needed. You pay for the

time you're done, you can trade it in for
the next super duper shiny model.
Once a police department starts with body
cams there's no turning back. The material
companies know this. Once the high end market
(police) is saturated they will go after the soft
underbelly: mall guards, school bus drivers,
crossing guards. The world is drowning in data.

I don't think 025 has any yet. Between the loonies that work there, and Triple-Merit Escamilla, downtown is probably really worried about what a shit show those cameras will record. Probably the biggest toll was on cluckers that don't get stopped by the police when buying drugs. Now they buy their drugs without getting stopped by the police and OD shortly thereafter.

The cameras really don’t do shit but aggrevate and annoy us. What the hell did people think was going to happen? All of a sudden our supposed code of silence would be exposed and all kinds of illegal shit we allegedly do would be caught on video? Hahaha. Yeah ok. I know that’s what the community was hoping for because the liberals were sure we were always breaking the law and violating people’s rights. The irony is that if he public were privy to our videos they’d be shocked with some of the savagery were exposed to and expected to handle on a daily basis caused by the good ‘citizens’. Truth is we’re more likely to get jammed up violating a dept video directive by forgetting to turn it on during a stressful incident or some other pimpy shit than getting caught with something big and dirty. This was all for politics and we all know it. Just another deflection maneuver to distract from the Laquan incident. Rhamulous’s promise to the community to reform the police. Because it’s the police that need reforming in a city that boasts over 600 homicides a year and where school teachers get shot while waiting for a train.

Poor in pre-frozen glasses and finish with

It seems the false narrative that the "Police" are out of control is dis-proven by the the very cameras they demanded...

What is really being seen on the cameras is how the Police are disrespected, threatened etc. as soon as they arrive at a scene, sometimes even before they can get out of the squad....

Nothing will change with having the cameras. Look at what happened in Rosemont. 19 year old female who was attending a party in a hotel room, where alcohol was being served, is found dead in a hotel freezer. Rosemont police conduct an investigation and conclude that there was no foul play. The police show mama all the video evidence and even the coroner's findings ( again, no foul play).

Mama's reaction?

Total disbelief. She demands that the investigation continues. The security video proves nothing. She screams cover up!

So, even with all the video of the incident, people still do not believe that the little cherub could have willingly walked into that freezer. Ironically, no one is demanding the identity of the person or persons who booked the room and provided under age teens with alcohol. Guess that investigation will not lead to a big pay day.

So having a video camera on your vest will do NOTHING for you if the unwashed masses scream loud and long enough of a cover up. Do you really think Rahm would endanger his position, especially with another election coming soon? All these cameras will do is prevent criminal charges from being filed. If they want to calm the screaming masses, they will hang you on a department transgression.

Rahm will use the Fed Sanctuary City funding withholding as the main reason.
A camera only provides an image and perhaps audio record.
It will be reviewed and if it doesn't fit the preconceived agenda of the Crook County Prosecutor, it will not be entered as evidence.
It's highly unlikely to be used for defense and have any favorable outcome in any Cook County Court for the accused law enforcement officer, but it will offer an excuse for the defendant.
It's sole use is to Shanghai any police officer within the images into a excessive use of force no matter how slight.
It may save you a lengthy suspension or shorten it only after the accusation.
Why risk the biscuit ?
KimJongFxxx & CO'PRA will twist and slant any image they feel as part of a conspiracy - just to avoid a community members prosecution.

Best approach is Don't Get Involved in or with their bullshit.

Then there's the jagbag Mayor, a phony financial whizz has yet to prove his original "reform" agenda he promised when was first elected, the same applies to PrickWrinkle.
Neither has reduced waste or spending, just increasing taxes for ever expanding oversized staff budgets.

Anything more that a safe response and arrival with a case report is excessive.

Back then just about every arrest involved a money, brutality or inappropriate language beef. 98% were not sustained, because they were made up bullshit, 1.5% were unfounded because it could be proven that it was made up bullshit and.50% were sustained, because they could prove some portion of liability of the officer. Cameras are just another very expensive appeasement for those who live by the law of the jungle/law of the swamp and simply refuse to live by the law of the land. I'm so fucking tired of this shit.

The wearing of cameras show that the police are no longer trusted. But the public that clammered for the cameras with the idea that they would show the rampant police misconduct is very disappointed. What they are getting is often video that shows the police were proper and the public was wrong.

And the stupid part $$, is that they want us to run the cameras from the time you get a call to the time it's over, even if you have no contact with the public. So if you get a job for a parking ticket or something low key where you are not driving lights and siren.. there is 20 minutes of video of a steering wheel. Why all the extra footage for no reason . It costs money!! Government spending other people's money.. don't care about value...

Back in the day we would look down on the lazy do nothing cops. Now it is the only thing you can do to survive and be able to retire off of the job. Who would ever thought it would go this way.

The study was conducted on the DC Metro PD. Other (earlier) studies have shown significant drops in complaints against officers during the year when bodycams were introduced to other PDs. One can assume from this latest study that the DC PD has a high level of professionalism to such a degree that cameras were not going to make much of a difference there, but no one should assume that all police depts. Would show similar results.

What is amazing is that certain people linked to Greg and Dean constantly harass Marty Prieb . Marty gives this union something it has never a voice . Dean would have sold out everyone on this union ( retired and active ,) down the river . He did that last contract ! Kathy Moore deserved to be fired ! The real problem is the hiring of new lawyers . Aggressive and experienced lawyers who will defend our members . The envelope at Christmas to these individual who I have mentioned who have been accustomed to living off their members is
Coming to an end ! Murray did the right thing firing someone who thought she was the Fop . Don't know why she was so upset this wasn't the first time ! Dean and his minions sit there instead of helping they are plotting and hoping things go south . Go away and teach school or go have some tripe at LaScorola . Give it a rest !

Without cameras, where would the McDonald case be? With or without cameras this is a weak case of police misconduct. But liberal Bernie supporters like you can't understand that.

Officer Van Dykke's trial is lurking in the background of this department. It's like a violent hurricane that you know is approaching. Does upper management even have a plan yet for the trial? Probably not, dumb question.

KEY Strategy
Go on the medical and let S.J. Rahm come to the rescue, he's so tough he scares Chuck Norris. And follow the sympathetic advice of the BROWNS parents
LET IT BURN
