Amazon Bidding War

Business Insider has a list of potential cities that may win the new Amazon HQ along with its 50,000 jobs:
  • (10) - Salt Lake City
  • (9) - Boston
  • (8) - Portland Oregon
  • (7) - Miami
  • (6) - NYC/New Jersey/White Plains
  • (5) - Pittsburgh
  • (4) - Rochester, NY
  • (3) - Philadelphia
  • (2) - Atlanta
  • (1) - Austin
Chicago must have come in at number 1A, which means it's almost a lock since Austin is in Texas and Amazon is run by a bunch of bleeding-heart liberals who hate Texas. Congratulations are in order for the 9.5 digit midget.

It was always going to end up in Austin. You don't buy Whole Foods and not expand next to them.

Countdown to Rahm calling Amazon racist, or something.

If Shitcago were to get HQ2 that means we tax payers are fucked. rahm will have given away everthing worth anything to land it. Taxes will go up higher and faster to make up for what was given away.

On the bright side, Bezos didn’t get where he’s at being dumb. Chicago to the rest of the U.S. translates to Joke.
There aren’t 50k people here qualified to work for HQ2. Schools are a joke, crime is rampant, weather, traffic, taxes, for get it.

I hope AMAZON doesnt come here-too many smaller stores, mom and pop stores, neighborhood stores will all be wiped out, what’s left of them anyway...
As a kid growing up in Chicago in the ‘60s, it simply didn’t get better than regular stops at “Delkers”, the penny candy store at Lunt & Western!

Good luck to the new kids going thru the testing process!

To correct SCC's last paragraph regarding the 2016 presidential election results: While the entire State of Texas voted Trump over Clinton 53% to 43%, Austin (Travis County) was a blue spot in a sea of red. Clinton carried Travis County 67% to Trump's 27%.

Prediction: Bezos will pick liberal Austin.

Interesting
Bezos is very left wing and even though his company wants to be handling all aspects of American life from soup to nuts there is not any outcry about putting "little guys" out of business.
Walmart, on the other, hand has an owner at the other end of the political spectrum who gets marches and protests every time he wants to open a store that will "put the little guy out of business"

Rahm isn't talking since the bids are secret. I wonder which spot on the lakefront he has promised them as well as billions in incentives.
50,000 jobs? Yeah right. I wonder how many will be H1B visa holders and "immigrants" doing jobs Americans won't do!

Amazon = Lympics for Rahm. The loss of "Da Lympics" for Daley was the end of his Magic. The loss of Amazon will be the same for Rahm. I realize there are people who think that because O'Hare is thriving, that we are the center of the universe. Yet the reality of crime, and the Racial Divisiveness and corruption that are at the core of Chicago makes this place extremely unattractive. Now add our workforce of poorly educated labor, and Chicago loses. Especially when you balance our basic Canadian labor force against a Disciplined Workforce of young Mormons. And if you doubt me, talk to anyone who works the UPS facility just outside of Chicago. Rahm's days of being Da Godfather, and Lil Tough Guy are over! The Power of the Clintons is history, as Hillary showed with her defeat and the virtual collapse of the Clinton Foundation. Obama too is history. There would not have been a second term for Rahmi f the McDonald video had not been suppressed. I hope it is Salt Lake City. Stay safe. Baby "G"

People fleeing Chicago more than any other state in the US; murder capital of the US; highest taxes in the country; Bezos is a real-life hard working business man who wants to continue to build his company - Chiraq is obviously not the place to do it.

Look at all the senior citizens being beat up shot, and murdered! We cannot even protect the people that made it to work ripe old age. To the citizens this is not the fault of the hard-working Chicago police officers this bloodshed falls directly on the people you put in the office, also the dishonest media who constantly attacked a police you keep supporting people like this, you're supporting the murder and mayhem!

Hard to get around the rate of murder and shootings. Probably didn't take Amazon too long to google up the crime rate and go "Oh hell no!" Also being a sanctuary city for criminals and illegal aliens probably didn't help Chicago's case, (although Amazon would probably never publicly say anything like that.)

Nope, no way, no how.......no Amazon in this city where the murders top the charts, 3000+ shot yearly, and the "worker class" would steal that company blind.....you know, like why the south and west sides are "food deserts" and no decent big store can afford the security costs..

Amazon wants tax breaks, decent weather, an international airport, access to freight lines, and a quality staff. Affordable housing is also on the list. My bet is Phoenix Az or Gilbert, Az.....
Both have all these things. Bezos is a smart guy.....gonna be a non-Union state, where the politicians aren't money-grubbing thieves....
Austin, Tx a great place, very liberal, but the state isn't......same with SLC, Ut, plus being rather un-accessible up there in the mountains....

Anyway, bottom line, who cares? We the consumers have ruined so many companies and put them in dire straits by being lazy and taking all our business to EBay, Amazon, etc, and making them rich beyond belief, while they pay the worker-bees that lousy $10 an hour.....

Amazon may be putting out their intentions with a list of locations, but they won't put out what they are really seeking.
Amazon doesn't need money or incentives at all, they have and make plenty.
They are being about transparent as business allows, even though they own the vast monopoly of online retail.
Again, this Amazon expansion thing didn't spawn overnight but a couple years ago.

What we the public taxpayer don't know is what Rahm is offering.
He won't say and no "investigative" media hype is asking.
That's were the problem exists.
He's hoping to parlay this with some overstated jobs fantasy to bolster his announced re-election, something no other challenger can do.
It takes away the whole community violence and murder story form the tender minds of liberals.

There are plenty of City Hall insiders looking to unload a huge portion of real estate.
Its just to whom and not where the Amazon deal lands.

Amazon may be extremely liberal but they would definitely pick Texas and other red states due to the economy there and low taxes. Financially it would benefit them to locate to a red state. Then again, I'm sure Illinois is going to try to give away the house to land them so they might pick here.

(OT) Thanks to almighty God for seeing that rahms lies, and the high shooting and murder rates, plus the high rate of shootings and killing! Lets not forget the latest trend by the black groups who are beating and killing senior citizens, this city is totally out of control!

What would happen if Amazon brought 50,000 workers to your city? Ask Seattle.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-amazon-50000-workers-seattle-20171020-story.html

Lets see the rahm owned beholden to the pathetic lying democrats what do they say:

But as Seattleites will say, keeping up with the Internet juggernaut has not always been easy, providing a word of caution for officials from other cities willing to pursue the company at great expense.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Which means that taxpayers would be screwed even more, but rahm and his crew would be flush with manila envelopes, laughing like hyenas drinking wine and eating cheeses as the bodies continue to drop!

In Seattle, that meant rehabbing an area of more than 350 acres at a cost to taxpayers of hundreds of millions of dollars in ongoing transportation and infrastructure upgrades expanding public transit, road networks, parks and utilities.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Rahm and his fiscally irresponsible crew can not even fund the police pension, and viciously took away police retirees health care while funding illegal invaders violating federal immigration laws!

Bezos read the papers, reads letters sent to him,and he definitely looked at our excessive crime rate, the breaking federal laws sanctuary city bullshit, and finally said no dice! Rahm lies and people die!!God bless the police!!

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-hope-academy-another-football-forfeit-20171020-story.html

This part is great:
“I don’t want to judge them, but if it were the reverse, we’d come to their place no matter what,” Muzikowski said. “Maybe we’re not reading the same Bible. There’s ‘Do not fear’ all over it. I said it to both of the heads of those schools (St. Francis and Bishop McNamara) – we had had an opportunity to do something great and they chose not to do it.

Of course you would come to their place, the area is safe not rife with shootings, murder, mayhem people over there obviously behave! That school needs to close, rahms values "for the children" cannot even protect them anywhere, but steps up to go after the thin blue line!

He already knows where it will go, he is just waiting to see if any other city gives away the whole store to make it slighyly more profitable.

Chicago is the perfect location for Amazon. Chicago has a rich retail history. Marshall Fields to Montgomery Wards to Polk Bros. Although, Sears could have been Walmart or Amazon, but they lost focus and started hawking mortgages and securities. Our overall crime rate is low. It is just a few neighborhoods that produce most of the murders and violent crime. We have several world class universities...Chicago, NU, Illinois, Loyola, IIT. All Interstates and rail line run through Chicago. We have ports and great intermodal facilities. Let's root for the home team.

I think a great location would be in between Chicago and Milwaukee near the Amazon Kenosha facility. There's land available, education resources, highways, affordable housing, a good quality lifestyle and access to O'Hare and Mitchell airports, the latter being a very civilized place with capacity to spare. Makes a lot of sense.

Lots of folks don't realize it but just in the three counties along the lake from Cook to Milwaukee counties there's over a million people. Not exactly Podunk.
