Once Again, the Connected
It must be nice to go through one's career, not even showing up for half of it, but somehow managing to score a pension - by changing the law just for yourself:
- They were a couple of Chicago cops, each serving in the Illinois Legislature, when they helped change state law to give themselves police pensions at taxpayer expense.
The amendment co-sponsored 16 years ago by now-retired state Rep. Edward “Eddie” Acevedo and current state Sen. Antonio “Tony” Munoz gave them — and also any future Chicago cops-state legislators — the ability to get credit toward their police pensions for every day they served in the Illinois Senate or House.
And Acevedo and Munoz took advantage of the change in Illinois law that they helped enact.
Without that, neither would have been eligible for a police pension at all. That’s because they took so many leaves of absence from their duties at the Chicago Police Department to work in Springfield that they didn’t have the minimum 10 years on the job needed to get a cop pension from the city of Chicago.

Rahmatics has it all taken care of.
Nothing to see here. Now move along.
Just like Dennis Gannon getting a $158,000 pension for one day thanks to shortshanks himself.
I have a cornfield into which I want to put
a one-of-kind hand dug swimming pool,
and I know two swell gold diggers to do
it for me: Eddie and Tony. Such sweet
guys. Sitting on their asses in another
job and pulling a police pension. Who
ever said cops were dumb?
You can rob people with a gun or with
a fountain pen. Our guys here, Eddie
and Tony, clearly put themselves in the
Steinbeck and Hemingway category.
Years ago they had places for guys
like Tony and Eddie. Warm, tidy
places like Sing-Sing and Alcatraz.
These here two cops are outcasts
and will never get a funeral from their
brothers.
And now Acevedo wants to be Sheriff to enhance his feeding from the public trough. Fuck you Eddie. Don’t let that miserable prick anywhere near another pension. As much as I hate to say it, I would vote for Dart instead of Eddie.
But notice the angle the rag takes; it's not that they're dirty, rotten, self-serving, greedy, double-dipping legislators. It's that they're COPS. That's why they're all butthurt about it.
rb
FOP is cool with it
They are just getting theirs. Layoff they deserve it, because they said so. Someone should sue.
The FOP backed them because they actually pushed for pro police laws.
If you think anything is free then special ED's girl is really a scholar.
So a triple merit hack is all right then?
Both of them should be in jail !
Hogs gotta feed......
OT - Rahm could had a Casino moons ago, no one talks about that anymore. You think the people Rahm wanted in just maybe flipped on him wanting too big piece of the pie !
Those casino people are sharp and Rahm was found to be too shady for them even. Maybe Rahm' close friend and advisor Richie Simon told Rahm that Rahm fucked up.
It will be a holiday and parade hearing Rahm got serious problems after m.f ing the new administration in Washington and they have him by his ball less crotch.
Clout Babies
It's all about the clout.... Well our 014 District clout baby, Jan AD "MERIT" Detective, Then "MERIT" Sgt. is already inside 35th.
In her long hard Four months as a "MERIT" Sgt. and is now the Admin Sgt. in Organized Crime....
Clout at it's finest !!!!!
Didn't Acevedo get caught working in Springfield while on the medical? Whatever happened with that case? Absolutely nothing.
Be thankful that they are getting a police pension, if they get theirs maybe just maybe you will get yours. That is unless they figure out how to keep theirs and screw you out of yours. Anything is possible in Illinois except honest politicians.
Rahm saw the movie and said
"I am the boss."
hey, I gotta a promotion for you guys
yeah, we got this investment, see
it's for the pension, but it ain't no stock
or bond, see, it's more of what you might
call an alternative asset, yeah, that's right
and we want you to run it for us
it's out in the desert, but don't worry
lotsa people go there and it's doin' real good
now, but we want it to do better, and we think
you guys are just the guys to do it for us
let's take a run out there
paging Burt Sugarman,
paging Burt Sugarman
Burt Sugarman, paging
Burt Sugarman
And the AG has never looked into it. CPD let both off the hook also. Gee I wonder why?
Note: Both a--holes are up for re election.
Why in the world does the City, County, State give them leaves of absences for time off for an elected position? I've often wondered why this is done. If someone gets elected to public office, tesign and be a politician.
There is no higher calling than serving in the state legislature. The fact that these gentlemen devoted themselves to the peoples business should entitle them to a pension.
Where was Mike Lappe's voice all these years as the patrol officers advocate on pension matters with these 2 individuals? Lappe was always so outspoken and such the fighter on pension matters but he seemed to just let these guys be untouchable. As Lappe mocked and riduculed officers at status hearings while Don O'Neill kept his poker face these 2 legislators were getting paid meals in Springfield by FOP leaders and then tossing back adult beverages at the Globe.
Gold braid pension Guy O'Neill and Lap dog Lappe are tricks. How many meals were paid for by FOP on these 2 legislatures at our state capitol? Did these guys have take home cars to take to tthe capitol?
These guys were Ed Burke's lackeys. They did what Eddy B told them to do. These two morons created a fucking nightmare with the pension calculations and the political phone calls demanding they receive a retirement benefit.
2 slimeballs.
Well, I don't know. It's probably not as dangerous as the streets of Chicago, but being a Pro-Police politician in a liberal dumbocrat state must have it's own dangers. So....
J.J.
says in the article they were about to get fired by CPD
Haven't we seen the Pension Bd. challenge lesser attempts to steal an annuity?
What about the 1 day substitute teacher (an insider poll) who tried and denied to snatch an IL Teacher Pension and wasn't even an educator.
I think they can overrule this attempt too.
The days of Double Dip should have been sorted out years ago.
If there was any question about the absolutely greedy elected, this is another prime example going ignored.
Dedicate a full time 20-30 years and only then will there be an entitled annuity.

Go for it. You have our support
the gift that keeps on giving.................
Donald O’Neill, who was then the police department’s human resources director, awarded Munoz a retirement star — a service award that’s supposed to go to officers with at least 20 years of service.
I worked with Munoz in 011. He was a nice guy. He did his job! I would much rather have him in the legislature, than someone who would not support police interests.
Lisa-kins will definitely look into this. I heard that she and Clueless Joe Ferguson have the same investigative skills.

Great, another sheep heard from. So sick of this he or she are nice people. That's not the point!
Equal opportunity for all where promotions are concerned, so sick of this merit entitlement bullshit.

Ditto Acevedo. Such bullshit. For what, so they can say “I was the police!”
And where were the Pension Board Hacks? Those same Hacks that were supposed to be the guardians of our pension money. These mutts should be tried for malfeasance. Keep votin for dem demorats. ♠️
I love it. Two ex CPD guys found a legal way to steal your pension monies. Between the two over the next ten years your pension fund will shell out approximately 1 million of your pension dollars they don't have. How many more are stealing your pension dollars. You all know guys that are scamming the system and your keeping silent. Wake up those fellow officers are stealing from you. If you know something blow the whistle. Sorry forgot, cannot speak ill of brother officers even if they are robbing me.
No thanks won't sue. I have left your fine state years ago just enjoy all the goings on in your fine city and state. Hope you can come to your collective senses and quit electing Democrats. Until you do your getting exactly what you deserve in both taxation and criminal control. Good Luck, it is really nice living in a state with a balanced budget and a town where you don't have to lock your doors. Also have total gun rights, which is probably why we don't have to lock our doors.
No higher calling than saving in state legislature? How about serving time in state prison which is where most of them should wind up. If you can continue to lock up governors why not some more legislators. Just a thought.
Need more red meat articles for Sunday.
Since you won't be watching NFL, try for
two.
-------------
When the guy mentioned the term brother
officers, it reminded me of Fredo in the boat.
Sometimes the thin blue line is your own
worst enemy.
Never forget. Make a Google alert for those
two guys. You will not attend or give any
donations for the funeral. As far as I'm
concerned, their real brothers are in the
legislature. When you steal with the pirates,
you go down with the boat.
How about Daleys friends who go from being on the Board of this to the Board of that,Its the Goldcoast Blowjob gang.

Blago gave his brother a job in state government jumping him over all other applicants including veterans. He lost the job when he was arrested for punching a off duty cop at a Miami night club and the scam came to light. He still has his security company. All clout
I would love his pension would be revoked Everyone on this job serves to get their pensions and yet these guys think they can change rules and laws because they are privileged. We all work at beat car for 20 plus years and these jag off think they are eligible for same benefits. Not right. Not right !
Both nice guys who even let me pick up their tab on Taylor Street.
The pension bomb is EXPLODING and we the tax payer will be paying the bill for all of this.
Our politicians get two or more pensions. (The tax payers are SUCKERS).
cool soft hands acevedo has never worked one day as a police officer. Gets drunk and has beer muscles but soft as puppy shit. His older brother total asshole with the personality of a rock.

Would you have expected less
Munoz is a scum bag, he put the boot guy in charge of the hired truck scandal, also did Al Shanchez, but he did his time and kept his mouth shut. I'm sure Munoz sang like a canary to keep his elected spot!

and still running security for the mall on 26th street I presume?
“I worked with Munoz in 011. He was a nice guy. He did his job! I would much rather have him in the legislature, than someone who would not support police interests.”
I also worked with Tony in 011, decent guy. A few years later, had the opportunity to chat with him at a benefit. Didn’t take long for Springfield to rub off on him, came across phony as a 3 dollar bill. Don’t kid yourself Tony is for Tony, can’t recall him sponsoring any real legislation that was beneficial to the Police.
