Car Jacking Arrests
- Two West Side carjacking suspects who led officers on a chase on the Eisenhower Expressway that ended with a police car crashing have been charged, police said.
Police said the two, Davontae Jones and Jason Dortch, may be linked to at least a dozen carjackings in the last couple of days but have been formally charged with only one - in the 800 block of North Racine Avenue on Monday night.
A dozen carjackings? Seriously, if these two put half that effort into something legal, they might be running a Fortune 500 company in short order. Of course, they'd probably be doing a stint at Club Fed for insider trading or something, but then they go the Martha Stewart route and all is well.

I also doubt if these two are the only carjackers out there. Media blurred their faces on-scene too. How can victim’s at home get a chance to say “They robbed me too!”?

Make sure all vehicle pursuit paperwork, your Tactical Response Reports, your vehicle crash reports, your personal issue citations, your traffic statistical report, your Investigative Stop Reports, your arrest report, your case reports, asociated inventories, your vehicle tow report, your criminal complaints, body worn cameras, dash cam video and anything that was forgotten all match. Lots of information to digest and process.
The sheer number of boxes to check and like narratives on these redundant reports by supervisors, involved officers, evidence technicians and detectives will undoubtably lead to similar but not exact reports and similar not exact observations. Lots of involved people with different writing abilities, perspectives and interpretations of the constantly changing often unrealistic general orders.
So many officers get sloppy while in a rush to complete required reports, so take a moment to review all that is submitted. Plenty of inside people who lack common sense or actual enforcement level police work with red pens or crayolas downtown reviewing your reports. But real police who do police work will overcome all the hurdles doing the right thing in the highest tradition of CPD.
Once again, congratulations on a newsorthy arrest in response to a well publicized violent crime spree and your dedication to protect the Citizens of Chicago. ����

Born and raised in the projects. At 18 I was in the military. Before that, we played sports outside when we were not in school. Yes there were a few assholes but not like this. The real criminals were older and we knew not to fuck with them and vice versa. Kids today do not give a fuck. Period. Carjacking and risking your life? Facebook postings proudly displaying illegal weapons and cash? First of all, evidently none of the criminals have completed high school or even attend. Recipe for disaster. No father at home, lack of education and mother not doing enough. Hardly any of these stories end well. Our system cannot sustain the crushing weight of 18-25 year old black men in community centers. I'm all about fetal, but this was a pattern, and the pursuit involved multiple jurisdictions, and a large area to cover after they crashed.
To our Supervisor who ordered us not to get involved with this "stolen vehicle", car jacking is a violent crime, not a theft. We should have you jammed for ordering us not to help other coppers.
Aside from that, Oak Park's dispatcher was crap. Hat tip to the copper that called out the street names/locations on the zone.

Top notch work done in taking part of a very violent carjacking and armed robbery crew down. These crimes were occurring in very nice parts of the city. The community feels a little sense of relief because of CPD. Stay safe, the majority of the city appreciates the work you do.
