Look at 2017 compared to any of the previous years. In fact, add up 2015 and 2016. You end up with almost 2017 numbers. Crime (aside from homicides) is trending upward at an alarming rate.
And even if you look at 2014, 2015 and 2017 homicide numbers, the trend is headed upwards. 2016 was a hiccup, but a disturbing direction to any jurisdiction.
(All numbers are 01 January through 31 October for each year.)

I started carrying two guns after a family friend was robbed at 10400 S. Talman. He was at that location to consider buying a house at or near that location. Three of the usuals approached him, the 14yr old put a gun to his head, they robbed him of his phone. They threatened him to change his phone code or they were going to kill him and his kids. He and his wife are not going to purchase the house, he said there was no way he could live in the area after what happened to him.

As of Oct 31, NYPD has only 242 homicides with Los Angeles at 236.
NYPD precincts., LAPD divisions and CPD districts total 121 aggregate areas. CPD District 011 has exponentially more homicides than the bloodiest in NYC and LA combined. The leaders are:
NYC: 67th Pct., East Flatbush, Brooklyn: 15 murders
LA: 77th St..: 44 murders
Chicago: 11th Dist.
So what is the average citizen to do. Yeah I got C.C. but I don't carry yet because I am inexperiencend at holster draw. Many ranges DON'T allow to practice this. So until one becomes competent at this, carryong a handgun will not solve much. When competency is achieved, different story. For now, those of us who have'nt achieved that level of compeyency are scared to carry because we realize the burdens upon for our own safety and those of others.When I get to the point of being able to be comfortable with carryong, I might be more safer and by extension, those around me. To the guy blasting Marty and Kevin,I have something to say. They are providing to the public our side of the story for officers who are being caught up in these bullshit wrongful conviction movement trials and being constantly assailed by the Chicago media. They are also fighting the Anti-Police narrative that is prevelant throughout our country. Every one of the officers I have spoken to over the years said that our union never speaks out against the city, media or any other entity that portrays the police as evil and are virtually silent in the media. For the first time in my experience over the past 32 years we have a voice that is standing up for our officers against all entities that are attacking our officers. There are plenty of other officers working on grievances, contract issues and all other concerns affecting our officers. Keep in mind that the amount of information that can be put out online is limited because you wouldn’t expect the Bears to put out their game plan for their opponent prior to the game. We have 17,000 members active and retired and only approximately 225 are concerned enough with what is going on with our union by making the time to attend the monthly union meetings. Thanks Kevin and Marty for being proactive on our behalf.
