Where the Guns Come From
- One of the FBI’s top Midwest counterterrorism investigators had his gun, Rolex and a wad of cash stolen from his North Carolina hotel room after a night of drinking this past summer.
It happened early on July 10, when Special Agent Robert Manson met a woman at the Westin hotel bar in downtown Charlotte and took her back to his room, according to Jessica Wallin, a spokeswoman for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
By 6:30 a.m., Manson noticed the woman was gone — along with his $6,000 watch, .40-caliber Glock and $60 in cash, according to the police report — which was filed by fellow agent Kevin Thuman because Manson was incapacitated by alcohol, the report says.
Manson, an FBI unit chief in the counterterrorism division, oversees terror investigations in the Midwest and Carolinas. FBI spokesman Andrew C. Ames said an internal investigation was underway but to declined to comment further.
Frankly, we're surprised this ever saw print. Hopefully, the feds aren't doing this on purpose like the ATF used to do.

Reminds me of the job we had at a very fine downtown hotel. An married businessman from out of town brings a working girl back to his room. His Rolex also disappeared after the working girl had to use the bathroom. Stupid calls the police while the working girl was still there. The Rolex couldn't be found ON her but we all knew where it was hidden. Stupid wanted to file charges against the working girl and get a police report. When we informed him of the consequences of doing this and the possibility of his wife finding out he decided to take the loss. Lesson learned.
What happen to the guy? If it was a CPD they might of lost their job.

Fed Priorities - spend 6k on a superflous decoration whose function is already covered by your cell phone rather than on quality training courses that might help you discern the intentions of the hooker who is about to roll you.

Deuce I worked 5 years on the JTTF before becoming coming back to a watch after getting promoted. The average GS 13 FBI Special Agent which is a non-supervisory senior special agent makes $150k per year with duty availability pay. So him having a Rolex is not unseemingly. Most Feebs are pretty good people doing a tough job. We owe them some respect due to the national security responsibilities they execute on a daily basis. If I were not over the age limit I would become a FED in a heart beat. Far better working conditions plus you work with top shelf folks. This guy was clearly an aberration based on what I saw while on the JTTF. Since getting promoted and returning to a watch I am amazed at how difficult it is to supervise the average PO.
