Toad Stroger Again?
Our first impression is that this is the Machine looking to split the black vote:
- Todd Stroger wants his old job back — almost eight years after voters gave the one-term Cook County board president the boot.
Stroger, who finished dead last in the four-way Democratic primary of 2010, made the announcement on WFLD-Channel 32 on Monday, vowing to run a “very, very competitive” race.
He said the county, under Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, is in a “precarious situation.” He also said that recent history has helped restore his reputation.
That's debatable. Cook County voters tossed his ass out over a penny tax. Prickwrinkle ran on rescinding that tax, reinstated it later, then came up with the soda/sugar tax that taxed everything that looked like sugar or might have had sugar in it at one point, hopefully dooming her future.
Fioretti was a pander to the liberal/progressive wing. Stroger is an effort to split one bloc. Is the next candidate another stalking horse or the one to watch?

I will give toad credit, he asked the simple question how did the budget go from 3.2 billion 7 years ago to 4.6 billion? The public guardian was crying after cuts were made to his department. Nobody cries when private sector people het laid off. We need more crying coming from county departments.

Nothing will change in Cook County until the voters really get fed up and toss out these mainstays of the democratic party. There has to be structural changes and the real end to feather bedding and patronage, especially in the County Hospital, county jail and sheriffs office. Fat Karen of the CTU promised to support bob but backed down because he was white and chuy was the flavor of the day. Rahm fucked Bob over too because bob didn’t go along with Rahm’s pay to play. It'll never happen. The members of our community don't stand a chance complaining about several property crimes requiring additional manpower. Every district needs more police. What these bosses on midnights in 008 can do is better use resources. Instead of using 806F as a TVB car, how about instructing them to drive on the beat? Nah, we need the car to drive up activity.

Since he jumped in on the mayor's race, no other white candidate jumped in because there were not enough white votes for three white candidates. Fioretti didn't campaign, guaranteeing Rahm a spot in the runoff. Next time, before you post political theory, do a little research that includes something besides eavesdropping on a conversation in a bar in Bridgeport or Mount Greenwood.
