IL is notified of felony warrant on suspect before narcotics sentence is completed; IL declines extradition and is set free. Suspect randomly kidnaps and murders a young woman in Houston a month later. Days before suspect is to plead guilty, suspect hangs himself and denies family of victim chance to make impact statements.
These are the same youth that the new state juvenile laws allow them to get these "shenanigans " wiped off their record. Armed robbery and home invasion, too. Victims are victimized again, only in Illinois.

Glad the Officer is unharmed.

At approximately 7:00pm this evening, an off duty Chicago Police Officer was the victim of an attempted armed robbery on the 2200 block of west 101st Street. Defending himself, the victim fired multiple shots at the attacker. The offender dropped his weapon and fled on foot northbound on Oakley Avenue. The police officer was not injured. For the last several hours the Chicago Police Department has conducted an intense manhunt for the offender with assistance from the Evergreen Park Police Department. At this time the Chicago Police Department does not have any suspects in custody.
I spoke with Superintendent Johnson a few minutes ago and was assured the Chicago Police Department will continue to allocate additional resources to the 22nd District. I will keep you updated as further information becomes available. Please remain vigilant and be aware of your surroundings. If you see something suspicious, call 9-1-1.

"Dude" ups a gun and announces a robbery, Sgt. is able to fire his weapon, unknown if he hits dude. Don't think it was a carjacking. Video shows the suspect vehicle circling the hood, think they were looking for an easy hit. If you know the Sgt. involved he looks unassuming, you wouldn't think he's the police. Don't want to say much more since this investigation is ongoing

If it was on the south side or West Side there is a good chance that off duty handled it- both as a detective and now as a Sgt for some 10 yrs. so he missed, or did he? Who knows. The Alderman is highly vulnerable. His primary constituency is being grossly under represented by the Police Department. When compared to surrounding communities; in Beverly and Mt. Greenwood, the citizens pay a significantly higher percentage of Property Tax. There is a much higher percentage of home ownership, hence a proprietary interest that should command equal police representation that is commensurate to the money taken in taxes from the local citizens. Instead, the police are sent to other places with less home ownership, lower taxes and non-existent proprietary interest. In short, there is no return on the investment these people make in their community. Instead the money and resources is transferred elsewhere. There should be major public outcry for equal protection under the law, by the law, in this grossly neglected community. Or, say goodbye to O'Shea.

Wow, every time we have an issue like this in the 19th Ward; Ald. O'Shea says he talked to so and so and additional Police resources will be assigned to the 22nd District. Well if he is getting the residents of the ward all of these additional resources, then why do these incidents continue to occur with greater frequency?
