For the media at least - and guess what's missing?
- A Chicago Tribune reporter was carjacked as she sat parked outside a Dunkin Donuts in the Bridgeport neighborhood early Monday.
The reporter, 29, was inside the car in a parking lot in the 700 block of 31st Street when two males approached around 2:30 a.m., according to the reporter. One of them tapped on the driver's side window and told her to get out.
The reporter got out of the late model Malibu, and the two robbers got in and sped off on 31st Street. She was not injured and told police she did not see a weapon.
Great descriptions there. We're going to rush right out and look for any males we can find.
In the meantime, perhaps the media can start looking at other crimes that might be rising instead of the homicide count which isn't always indicative of crime trends? Or is that too much to ask?

Cars are big and bulky, not easy to hide. They have those license plates that make them easy to identify too. It is almost like no one is out there looking for them, and no one is running them down when they do find them.
Or is it because when someone does steal a $10,000-$100,000 car and get caught, they don't get put in prison? They are able to just go out and do it again, and again, and again?
The Trib sends these young, often female, journalists into the field with a phone, scanner and car. They are trained to believe, “I will be okay because I’m media.” I hear the car was given up “because they asked politely.” Property to include: three scanners, two laptops, zone and district maps, countless files on coppers in district and a notebook of “information sources.”
Some one get one that right away.., scumtimes, and tribune get on Rham's ass and uncover some investigative journalism other than topics of redlight cameras, give us some information on other assholes involved the processing of the LQMD case and what transpired over that 1 year period while Rham was trying to sweep that as far away from him as possible-- I am sure it's pretty juicy

I was a Bridgeport resident until I got smart and moved far away 2 years ago. That was my Dunkin Donuts. My 3 year and and I walked all over that neighborhood, to Palmisano Park, to Jackalope, to O'Malley's, to Sox games. Scary!

Anybody can carry police scanners. Totally legal unless you're using them in the commission of a crime.

The CTA has posters discouraging inappropriate behavior. In the photos, all of the CTA customers doing something wrong are white males, except for one where the woman stealing a laptop is ambiguously White/Hispanic. No depictions of elderly Amish using the Red or Blue lines as overnight lodging.

Yes, this was a crime- a carjacking. The victim wasn't required to wait until she actually saw a gun, nor was she required to get shot first before she could be a "victim". Some of the CPD mentality of killing crime-aka McCOMPSTAT, trying to downplay crimes by blowing them off or somehow blaming the victim- have no place in a professional PD. I understand that we all like to have a sense of humor about this job, but remember boys and girls- many of these journalists are on our side.
