Crash

  • Two Chicago Police officers were among four people hospitalized Monday night after a West Englewood neighborhood crash on the South Side.

The officers were pursuing a suspected robber in a Hummer SUV when the vehicles collided about 8:30 p.m. near 67th Street and Marshfield Avenue, according to Chicago Police and the Chicago Fire Department.

The two officers were taken to a hospital in serious condition, authorities said. Two other people were also at hospitals in good condition. None of the injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
Some comments said they had to be extracted from the squad. No further word. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Involved, a PPO and PO w/ 2years otj. Assuming the pursuit was authorized by the DSS, field SGT, field LT and the WOL. Someone had to have been monitoring the radio and allowed the pursuit to continue. Hope this shit does not roll down hill for the PPO, if it does...... “he gone”.

Speedy recovery blue.

Just two days ago we talked about how getting into vehicle pursuits will bite you. So what happened tonight? Preliminary info says:

Two coppers had to be extracated from their squad after being involved in a crash during a pursuit of Ghettofabulous juvenile vehicular hijacking offenders. Chase involved both 007 & 008 district units - unsure as of this post which district the injured coppers are from or their conditions. I'm guessing pretty fucked up as marked units closed off the route to Stroger and escorted the ambulances.

When exactly is it gonna sink in? When it hurts to walk for the rest of your life? When you're confined to a wheelchair for the rest of your life? When your family has to bury you and your kids have to grow up without one of their parents? Never mind the possible financial ramifications.

And all for what? Two ghetto juvy pieces of shit that won't face any real consequences, let alone amount to anything remotely close to productive, contributing members of society.

The "Balancing Test" needs to be rewritten to incorporate factors specific to ghetto applications. And then it needs to be beaten into the thick skulls of the fucking retards that still can't seem to figure it out. Save the full-on Tackleberry Response for something that involves family, friends, loved ones or coworkers. Leave the Self-Cleaning Ghetto Ovens to do what they do best.

Trust me when I tell you that 99% of ghetto affairs is complete bullshit that will resolve itself without the police having to play referee, babysitter, marriage counselor, addiction specialist etcetera. Play cleanup... your chances of shit going sideways are exponentially reduced and you'll remain in better shape emotionally, physically and financially.

Best wishes for a full recovery to the injured coppers. And good luck with the administrative ass raping and/or punitive damages you'll likely face when all is said and done.

Only the low rent gangstas drive the Hummers now.
Remember when a Burger King manager drove one
before 2008 stock market crash. They demolished
the King and a local bank moved onto the property.
The Hummer? Guess he lost it when he lost his job.

First off...officers, get well soon.

Admittedly, I am one who usually submits comments criticizing how and why officers continue to put their lives in jeopardy in situations such as this. I do so not to pile on, but instead to spare the officers , loved ones, and coworkers the horrors those of us with significant time on this job have undoubtedly experienced.

For me, nothing was worse than watching two officers (not in the same incident) being worked on by ER staff as their bloodied and cut uniforms lay discarded on the floor. One officer even had his radio on and I was able to hear the continuing chaos in the district as he was pronounced. The other officer at least had his family rushed to the hospital and were present as he died.

Fellow officers, shit goes bad really quickly. Nothing you do on this job will ever be more important than going home at the end of your tour.

8th district Tac is like the good ol' boys club -- a large group of older white guys lounging around and doing anything to avoid having to be on a beat car. They're known as the TVB police among 8th district p/o's. You'd think they'd be wise enough to avoid chasing but apparently not

I was badly injured in a squad roll 20 years ago. Probably would have been killed in a patrol car. The guy I was working with still has a bum knee. Bottom line. Don’t let your ego get in the way. You have everything to loose and dude has nothing to loose and a winning ghetto lottery prize to boot.

CRASH, extracted from vehicle, speedy recovery.
Sounds like a Rahm directive.
(Boys, get a baseline MRI, because sometimes
you feel O.K. with all the adrenaline, but years
later arthritis and other degenerative conditions
move in and cause trouble. You want to be able
to prove the trauma was the origin.)

Nothing is more life changing than looking at the aftermath of the vehicle you were in or the injuries sustained there in.

Englewoods can stand to have a few extra crimes on the weekly daytime CAPS Office printout, they’ve been so blessed with Special Ed's crime reduction strategy.

Stuff some do to please the DC and Jugghead.
Makes good sense to chase for an arrest or traffic card.

True, because terminating a boss would result in all kinds of icky repercussions.

There was two different foot pursuits and a vehicle pursuit going on. The air was busy. POs were blindsided by the shit heads vehicle entering the intersection from the wrong way of a one way.
I think it's time POs force the dept., city, county, and state to hammer these motherfuckers. 0 tolerance on offenders who flee in vehicle. The only people who are held accountable are POs! Who are trying to do the right thing in protecting the citizens.

You must be one of them hair gels. IFIYGD talks the truth even if he is rough around the edges. But that's from being there, doing that. I hope he's a sgt or Lt because you know hes old school and would be the type of person to look out for the troops and show them the right way of doing things. People don't make it long on this job w/o adapting and learning over the years. Maybe some day when you have more than a few years on you will see that IFIYGD is the type of "asshole" the grunts need. His comments would do alot of young officers good if only they would listen to guys like him.
