You know all those Gang and Saturation teams with their "special skill set" that the Department is always looking for? When the boss says, "Jump!" you know what the response is:
- Tonight all Gang and Sat teams (across all areas) babysat “VIP’s civilians” for the entire tour by driving them around and showing them the City. What a great use of manpower, especially specialized units. Why not get HQ and Area inside officers to shuttle these liberal fools around?! Another great idea brought to you by the brass (or should I say their puppet master).
Special Ed must have figured without any murders for six days, he could spare the teams for Rahm's Dog and Pony Show.

Not that I would defend our leaders but it was more units than just guns and Sat. The ride along time was only 3 hours not the entire tour. More importantly these people that were being driven around were donating big money for us, including giving us free bullet proof vests. Some people need to learn to investigate things before they constantly think the worse

Visitors had to be driven by police. If they weren’t, you know the odds of one of these visitors getting stuck up, jacked or shot is about 100%.
You should say, "I'm sorry. The only civilians who ride in my police car must be searched, handcuffed and sit in the back."
Maybe Rahm wanted to impress the community before the election. Hey, we're arresting white people.
These people are providing the city P.D. with bullet proof vests and stuff? When did the CPD become an association in need of charity, ah, never mind, see if these people will donate to your retirement fund, and to police widows and orphans too.

Most of the Do-Nothings at 35th street have take home cars all the bosses even the Sgts and 40% of the P.O.s. I agree that 35th street should of handled this BS. But its business as usual here in the CPD........God help us all

Ah, the SAT teams.
I remember when each area had a SAT team, with each team consisting of 2 coppers from each district in the area. 50 Po's, plus administrative, totalled about 65.
Now, we have about 360 officers assigned to the 3 area teams, with about 300 of them working the street. And all they do is Suspended DL, with zero discretion. How sad can it get?
Kulbida's super special sergeants that he brought over to 012 for their softball playing ability all snuck over to gang enforcement under the cover of darkness.

Deuce personnel assign d to specialized units have the presentation skills and savvy to perform liaison functions with visiting dignitaries. I worked at n the JTTF and all my reports were able to handle this function. After I returned to the Patrol Bureau as a watch supervisor in a south side district I encountered guys/gals who were uncouth, politically incorrect, with poor reasoning and written/verbal communication skills, and who if left unattended would pass gas during Sunday Mass. Merit promotions enable coppers who have poor test taking skills but superior work ethic, reasoning skills, and documented achievements get an even shot a being promoted.
How demeaning.
Remember when Jessie “We almost lost Jr” Jackson ran for president and he wanted the Secret Service to carry his and his staff’s bags? Their boss told him that the Secret Service doesn’t carry bags they are for protection. Their boss had balls and brains.
And you know none of them were taken to any districts with High crime and shooting rates.

How about the stationary,around the clock, 2 man post at the hotel where all those police chiefs were staying, during the conference this week? They're the f*cking police!! And we have to guard them?!? GTFOH!!
As a civilian who greatly respect you men and woman I often think while I read this blog, "If CPD officers would actually all get behind one single purpose they would be unbeatable", but that will never be... I dream that maybe someday it will happen, but I know it won't. Sad
And if your wondering why a civilian would even care it is pretty simple. We know that CPD knows what is really going on, and we know that CPD, despite all the BS really wants the city to get better. So we know that if CPD really supports an idea that it is in our best interest. In other words, what is good for you is good for us.
We do care!

Thankfully, Supt. Johnson has the class to post the detail at the Chief’s hotel so that whenever they leave or return; they know that the CPD has their backs. We are still a premier law enforcement organization in this country. Lets start acting like it!
