McCarthy let it fly – and contradicted the claim he made nine months after he was fired – during a free-wheeling interview Tuesday on the WTTW (Channel 11) program “Chicago Tonight” that focused on whether he will run against the mayor who fired him.
After claiming he had McCarthy’s back for weeks, Emanuel abruptly fired him on Dec. 1, 2015. At the time, the mayor said McCarthy had become a “distraction” in the unrelenting furor after the court-ordered release of a video played around the world of white Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke firing 16 shots at black teen Laquan McDonald.
It doesn't speak well to McCompStat's political instincts, and pretty much proves the "carpetbagger" label he was saddled with, to not realize that all political appointees are expendable if the king needs a body to toss to the wolves. This is especially true in the democratic party and even more so in Chicago.
But it's fun to see Rahm's political life flicker, smoulder and die, especially on the national stage.

Anthony Guglielmi posted a picture from a camera phone that showed Rahm and the honor guard next to PB’s open casket. Gugliemi took the photo down after people gave him grief over it. I wish I had saved it. It was truly the most tasteless thing I’d seen in Emanuel’s quest to “never let a crisis go to waste” event last week. We need to get rid of Rahm at all costs, no matter who he faces. His fake concern about the family and CPD wouldn’t be questioned if there weren’t a camera there at every turn. Same goes for him showing up at SJF pancake breakfast for vests for CPD. It’s all there on his Twitter, like everything else he does.

To the guy asking about Berios. I am no politician, but I can tell you this. I was surprised when I was in the FOP Store and he walked by, stopped and said hello to everyone. One PO asked him about some tax issue, he stopped, wrote something on a card and gave it to the officer. Told him to call the next day and it would be taken care of. That impressed me. Most politicians just glad hand you and walk away.

McCarthy is a big part of the reason violent crime has gotten so bad. He came here using a model to diffuse gang violence that would never work in Chicago because the gang hierarchy had been destroyed in Chicago over the years. Calling in gang leaders who had no control over anything anymore didn't make sense. It took him two years to admit he didn't understand the gang problem in Chicago when he came here. Also, one of the reasons he was hired is because he fully endorsed Rham's idea to cut the manpower on the department. He said there was no reason to have this many police because we had more police per-capita than New York, again not understanding the gang and violence culture of our city. I read one time he thought we could get by with about 9500 officers once he got the department in order. The DOJ investigation is a direct result of his leadership, the second Department in a row he led to be investigated by the DOJ.

I think the one issue that the media so carefully ignores is the Chicago Police Department is a cabinet of the Mayor. If anyone thinks that the police department has not followed the fate of the other cabinets of the mayor, in that it is riddled with patronage, cronyism and nepotism, then I think they are stupid people and very naive. The police superintendent might have some level of independence, but he still reports to and takes orders from the mayor, if he wants to keep his job that is. And, with most former superintendents, keep your mouth shut about what really goes on and the political class will smile upon you.McCArthy really thought that he was safe and would keep his job so he took orders from Rahm and said what he was told to say. It is pretty hard to retract all of that unless McCarthy really comes clean, and I don't see that happening.
Guys say what you want, love him or hate him he's the best choice out there for CPD. Tiny dancer hates us and that's never going to change. You are applying standards of assessment which are nowhere to be found in politics. Certainly not in the politics of shit city, crooked county and suckassed state of madiganistan.
The only practical question is: Which candidate, who managed to get onto and remain on the ballot, can boot out the incumbent trash?
The answer to this question is always: Whichever one, single candidate gets more votes than the incumbent. That is all it takes.
This more than the incumbent gets requires including votes cast by dead voters, voters no longer residing here, illegal voters having no right to vote, fictious voters, voters who are unaware they voted, since they did not vote, and any/all of the mysterious ways vote tallies seem to increase for the incumbent and/or decrease for the most effective challenger.
An honest election here is less likely than the arrival of the Apocalypse.
I'd vote for Gary. At least he isn't a satanic globalist like Rahm. So to the above poster...now you know 1 cop that would vote for Gary. My name is Steve and I'm a Capricorn. I like thin crust pizza and I voted for Trump.

The Dillon name again. Her mother was notorious for micro managing the watch as a captain. Now her two daughters have the Dillon golden spoon. And Riccio assigns a sgt as a driver? What happened to the traditional blue shirt as a driver? Again, clout prevails and a Dillon daughter is taken care of. In a few years this sgt will be made a merit LT and the Dillon name will continue.

JanAshley is now a six figure salaried driver? Of course she is. Why not go the Keating route? Promote her directly to commander then deputy chief. Then she can retire and head up McPier and CTA. I agree and will go one further. As a Detective I do not feel a Detective should be a driver. We should be at the area doing our jobs. The drivers spot should be for some old timer who did their time and is coasting into retirement. A Sgt as a driver is a total waste!

How can they look in the mirror and try and justify a driver or secretary making sgt or Lt. Why do the charade , just name them instead of trying to justify a promotion that can’t be justified. Reading their nomination would be interesting.

Which one are you interested in knowing, nosy fellow as you be, about, concerning the quite simple minded "who" qualifier specified in your questionable question?
Make a list, there have been many "kennedy" departures, and check it at least twice.

Fuck McDrunkenstein.....I remember seeing him at a Bourbon Street fundraiser and after listening to him speak, thinking to myself, “Good Lord, this dumb, drunk prick is an embarrassment.” Just as bad as I remember seeing Matt Rodriguez’s drunk ass almost fall out of a chair years ago at a Christmas party. The department isn’t run by the Superintendent, he will always be an appointed fool for the mayor. I learned that early on, thank God.
He's like Obama. He never goes away. Kinda like herpes.
I detest McCarthy. But I hate Rahm even more. I will be holding my nose and voting for McCarthy, Vallas, LaRaviere or ANYBODY that can beat Rahm.
