Police Shootings x2
- A Chicago police officer shot a man during an “armed encounter” in the Austin neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to authorities. The shooting happened in the 5200 block of West Ohio Street, in an alley south of Ohio Street and east of Lockwood Avenue just before 3 a.m.
Chicago Police Department Spokesman Anthony [Google-me] said a weapon was recovered at the scene. Police closed off Lockwood Avenue east to about Laramie Avenue and Ohio Street east of Lockwood.
It was the second shooting by Chicago police this weekend. Friday afternoon, police in the Woodlawn neighborhood fired shots while they “engaged an offender” near 67th Street and Ellis Avenue, [Google-me] said.
A weapon was recovered from that scene, he said.

OT but we need to get this out there. This topic was never an issue due to the city would never cancel rdo on holidays in the past, now that the city has officially took away your summer holidays and most likely New Years too, it is the utmost importance we change the current contract as it is written. If we refuse to act , the city will be stepping all over us just to fill manpower needs of any ill conceived issue. Every Officer will be affected by this negatively in the future !
1. The city gives you holidays as part of a compensation package , but reality is that the city refuses to let you use these holidays at the preference of the member, as described in our contract.
2. The city gives you regular days off as described in our contract, but The city can cancel your rdo To cover manpower needs and also will allow 15% of officers to take that day off time due, DOH, etc.
3 The city cancels holiday rdo, and now pays the Officer only 4 hrs of pay to work that holiday. Yes, you get 4 hrs pay for working on your canceled holiday and the rest is in mandatory CU . This basically costs the city nothing out of pocket to get more manpower , therefore it will continue this practice until it’s changed.
4. Supervisors are not subject to these rules.
The members and our union need to address these issues as this is going to continue until we change it .

Sorry guys, just a little off topic. A memo was posted yesterday in my district, which recently had 10 district open bid, about at least 4 Officers going to 2nd watch with DOG changed. I know that the DC has the discretion on how to run his/her District. I think it’s a “little” unfair to someone who has been to our district for years and been trying to go to 2nd watch with 18-20 years OTJ. The new coming 3 out of 10 Officers who are heading straight to 2nd watch got only 13-17 years OTJ.. How can you NOT loose faith in this department? This a slap in the face specially to the hard working Officers. And you wonder why your Officers are leaving your NORTH side district?!

It is with a shattered spirit that this news must be shared with you all.
Tragically, one of our fellow snowflakes has been lost to the evil of......Mathematics.
Yes, we all considered ourselves immune from this scourge most deadly to our essences, however, the ugly, and unjust, sequence of events which has led to our collective loss needs to be presented, however unbearably unbearable it is to know of, so we may avoid a simliar loss ever occuring again.
The bare and raw details will assuredly be enough to deter future repetition of our lost fellow snowflake's tragic steps taken to his blasphemous end.
Here, in brief:
A) He was compelled to attend a required, remedial course in Basic Mathematics.
B) He attended, believing he could successfully pass this course without actually understanding any more than he had previously come to not understand. (This was his first mistake)
C) He discovered, while attending, that he could not overcome and suppress, (using his natural desire to not pay attention), an unnatural urge to actually listen, and, (as we snowflakes all have feared at one time or another), succumbed to the evil attractions of actually understanding, (shudder), Mathematics..... (This was his second mistake)
D) These two mistakes alone would not have been the cause of his departure from our midst, had he not made his worst and three more fatal mistakes:
a - He ventured, (after having passed AND understood that Remedial Mathematics Course he was compelled to attend), into the territory of ultimate evil......(mega shudders!!!!!).... Yes, I must at least hint on this here, for the future safety of us all.....
That SCC blog from the BAD places.....(sobs....) and after doing this, he......
b - ......actually read one of the many evil articles.....yes....he really read one.....and not just pretended to read it, really did read it......(we know, we know.....Why!!!????!!?!!)
c - Not only did he read it, he UNDERSTOOD it!!!!! Because he had previously attended and passed that horrid Remedial Mathematics Course......
The tragedy here was that that particularly evil article was about how the evil police murderers are supposed to not be really doing as many murderings as we snowflakes all know they must be doing....because, how else do so many murders get done?!!!???!!?

I've scanned the internet and we are the only city that I can find that spent all its media time on crime and violence and the number of cops that will be on the streets for the beginning of the killing season. NYPD, LAPD, Miami, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, no one posted on their websites anything but wishes for everyone to have a happy and safe holiday. Only Chi-Town is fearful of out of control violence needing 1,000 extra cops on the street. What message does that really say? I hope the travel agents and the tourists are paying attention.
