The Department ran its "Incident Control Team" call out drill for the first time in recent memory.
For the newer readers, every District is required to have a couple of cars and a sergeant on call in case of a disaster (or large disturbance) properly equipped and available at a moments notice. Downtown dusted off the orders and called for all teams to report to an address near HQ to see how long it took everyone to gear up and respond.
Word is it wasn't pretty, but at least someone is thinking there might be something big on the horizon and the Department better see what options work.

The responding cars were to assemble at the North
lot of McCormick Place and it also was not pretty.

No crowd control training since nato. Twenty to thirty percent of those people are probably retired or no longer working in patrol. North side districts have no manpower to send to "incident control" situation without compromising the safety of officers left to handle problems in those districts. School starts next week and along with that comes a whole bunch of other problems that quickly drain available manpower at the district level. morale problem, manpower problem, no contract, lack of supervision, implementation of consent decree, etc... spells doom for " chicago's finest". All we can do is stick together and work through it with what we have.
The drill wasn't pretty but rest assured that I still am.

For you, it sounds like they might need to do just that. Over that coat, you might want to also have your raincoat. Hint: it's not to keep snow or rain from getting on you.

How exactly does something, bottles filled with piss and shit, intended to be thrown at police during a protest/riot, have nothing to do with the police. I sure hope you had your raincoat yesterday. Anyone who forgot to bring one is probably still cleaning off after the onslaught of bottles of piss and crap. From experience I can tell you, you usually are only aware after the shit and piss is thrown. Then it’s to late. They don’t say “put on your raincoats, we are ready to throw”. To prove my point I didn’t see ISP officers wearing their raincoats at the beginning

Do you really need to make two consecutive posts to drive home the fact that piss and shit aren't thrown at us every day? Hoping others will think you aren't the same guy making both posts? I've already explained this to you. It's not about getting piss and shit thrown on you every day. It's about working at a protest/riot where people are specifically throwing piss and shit at the police. This is very simple, like yourself. If you need someone to tell you to put on your raincoat, which isn't surprising in the least, you probably wouldn't even realize you were covered in shit and piss until someone else told you about the smell. How are you responding to a post that specifically explains that I wasn't referring to everyday police work by suggesting that I think people are throwing shit and piss at us every day? Are you illiterate or just dumb? Both? Figures.
