Another Candidate?
- A son and namesake of one of Chicago’s most calculating political operatives is preparing to gather signatures to join the crowded race for mayor against incumbent Rahm Emanuel.
Jeremiah Joyce Jr., a Yale-educated lawyer and former Cook County assistant state’s attorney, has told associates that his decision to explore a bid for mayor has nothing to do with a lucrative O’Hare Airport concessions contract that Emanuel stripped away from his father.
Privately, Joyce Jr. simply claims he has “run the numbers” and concluded that Emanuel can’t win, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times. In a fractured field where it’s all about getting into the runoff, Joyce Jr. firmly believes he has as good a chance as anybody to put together a multiracial coalition of supporters given his family’s political network.
If he ends up in the crowded mayoral field, Joyce Jr. plans to sell himself as the “law-and-order” candidate in a field that also includes fired Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy, sources said.
It's possible the 19th Ward got a look at the internal numbers from Rahm's paid poll showing him with an insurmountable lead, and they're thinking these pollsters are as trustworthy as the people who said Hillary was going to win. Regardless, this is trouble for Rahm - yet another white guy and this one from within the Machine. We'll see in short order if he's there to
- push Rahm out or
- steal votes from Vallas and McCarthy or
- being pushed by the Prickwrinkle crew to give Lightfoot a chance.

Alderman Margaret Laurino (39th) announced she would not be seeking reelection. Her alliance with Rahm Emanuel has damaged her with ward voters.
So many rats in the race— Rham could win as everyone steals votes away from each other.
Rahm will win. His cunning and political experience is the only thing that can hold Chicago together. If he doesn't win, within six months there will be rioting and blood in the streets. Chicago will burn.

Joyce's candidacy is a farce. He has zero chance and he knows it. His job is to dilute the white vote even more then it already is going to be diluted. Rahm gets into the runoff by getting a large majority of the Hispanic vote and a smattering of white votes. Blacks will vote for a black candidate and one of them will finish second. Probably Lightfoot. . Vallas McCarthy Rahm and now Joyce split the white vote the result being that Vallas is kept out of the runoff. Anti police Lightfoot is no Harold Washington and Rahm easily wins the runofff. That is the machine plan and sadly it's going to work. Watch for Joyce and his contingent to get some sort of reward when it's all over.
The only hope was McCarthy would swallow his carpet bagging ego and make some kind of deal with Vallas and drop out. Joyce's entry leaves another white to split the white vote thereby keeping Vallas from somehow beating Rahm ( huge long Shot) and keeping him out of the runoff.

I love how Norridge residents now want the place closed. But they don't want to touch all the prostitution that is going at in that area of Harlem Ave.

Why is being an ASA such a big thing? When a lawyer graduates and doesn’t have a job, they go to the ASA office for experience, especially if they have clout, then move on. It’s the normal progression for a lawyer, doesn’t make them pro police. Half or more become defense attorneys

Are you new to chicago? His father was Mayor Daley’s guy. His family controlled the entire southwest side. Any retired CPD that wanted a job as a States Atty investigator had two choices: the Stroger family ( if you were black) and Jeremiah Joyce ( for everyone else). Don’t get me wrong- the Joyce family is every bit as bad as a Daley or Madigan blood line- and I’m not knocking you for not knowing, I’m just saying it’s just a different dog with the same fleas.

Reputable polls, hidden by the Emanuel camp, shows him averaging between 18-30%. The actual number settles around 21%.
Rahm is in serious trouble.
The hispanic support will not be enough to offset the votes of the white working class, the blacks, and now the moneyed white liberals besieged with crime high fees and taxes.
McCarthy and Vallas has been beating or running neck and neck with Rahm in some polls.
What's needed is an out of state ( excluding California where his brother Ari tosses money around) polling group that shows which candidate has the numbers to beat Rahm.
PEW, Gallup and a few others come to mind-however, as Trump proved, polls don't always get it right.

On point. However if Joyce wants to win, tell his dummy supporters that are attacking Vallas , McCarthy and their supporters to knock it off. You notice that Vallas, McCarthy and Wilson are not attacking each other. That solidarity helps their causes.. Attacking each other is the best way to ensure a divide so Lightfoot can win. Go the high route.
I will support any of the candidates-except Lightfoot, Madigan, or Obama plant-that runs. And I'm sure the winner will be savvy enough to divide the spoils among his /her competitors.
