Cops Denied Voice
Anyone with half-a-brain has stopped proactive police work. This message is to everyone else, so if you know someone who doesn't read the blog semi-regularly, let them know:
- Stop doing proactive police work or you are going to lose your job, be indicted or go to prison.
- Promising he will give the Fraternal Order of Police — “and indeed all Chicago police officers” — a chance to be heard, a federal judge Thursday nevertheless denied an attempt by the police union to formally intervene in a lawsuit expected to lead to a consent decree governing reform efforts at CPD.
In a 25-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Robert Dow said the FOP waited too long to try to intervene in the federal lawsuit brought by Attorney General Lisa Madigan against the city of Chicago, “despite its clear recognition” through public comments that the case could significantly affect policing in Chicago.
The judge said the state offered to let the FOP enter into a memorandum of agreement — along with a coalition of community groups — giving it the right to raise objections and give input toward the consent decree. But citing state attorneys, the judge said the FOP refused the offer — a decision the FOP doesn’t deny.
Therefore, Dow said the FOP’s decision to publicly oppose the consent decree but limit its own role in negotiations “appears to have been strategic, and it must live with the consequences of that decision as it relates to this belated attempt to intervene as a party in this lawsuit.”
Parties are added and subtracted from federal proceedings all the time - years after the fact even. The FOP taking its time and assessing all of its options over the course of a few months shouldn't be a big deal. In act, the FOP seems to be the only party actually telling everyone to slow down, take a breath and let cooler heads prevail (kind of like de-escalating if you think about it) instead of rushing around like there's an election around the corner.
Oh wait...
Don't say you weren't warned that the lib-tards involved are going to crucify you the first chance they get.

Fuck you.
Where’s my insurance?
This decision will be appealed and overturned.
Let your conscious be your guide....and sit your happy asses in that squad unless dispatch gives you a job or you hear a 10-1 on the radio. Otherwise don’t do a damn thing. Sit back, listen to the radio and get the hell outta there at the end of your shift. These political hacks want the city to descend into chaos, then they can have their way. I think what needs to happen is all the police need to take a day off and let the city see what it’s REALLY like without police around. They’ll throw this consent decree in the fire. I only wonder if Lisa Madigan will change her tune if she’s ever the victim of one of these heinous crimes though. My guess is not.
Don't foot case, dont car chase, don't stop anyone. Just answer the radio. Be safe and God Bless
Way to go FOP! On the ball once again.
FOP is run by a bunch of tools. Too little and way too late. Again!
Well, that was to be expected. And honestly not that uncommon. When a corporation does a re org, they don't really consult the employees. Not that it makes it right or a good idea. What the FOP should be advocating is to move away from that Ponzi scheme pension plan and into a defined contribution plan. That will make individuals more responsible about their retirement, BUT it will also make it much easier for cops to move to other department, other jobs, etc. Once you switch that around, you can expect the city to start treating you much better. Why? Because it makes it more important to value your employees since they're no longer stuck waiting for a pension. It works great in other industries.
Time for the police to march on the expressways and lsd to show our concerns about lack of contract, respect for police, violations of our rights by the leftists. Maybe Eddie will join hands with Graham and the FOP board on the expressway. After all we are only exercising our constitutional rights!!! FOP, get some balls and start being more vocal and more active. Remember we can now stop our dues and you will all be out of high paying jobs. Do what YOU were elected to do--REPRESENT US11111
Stupid judge was appointed by George W Bush. Thanks, jerk
This will be us. Thanks, your honor.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/14/former-baltimore-officer-indicted-accused-assaulting-man.html
A now-former Baltimore police officer who was seen in a video repeatedly punching a man on Saturday has been indicted on assault charges, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Baltimore State Attorney General Marilyn Mosby said at a news conference that the accused man, Arthur Williams, was charged with first-and second-degree assault as well as a misconduct in office. She cited the cellphone footage capturing the assault as evidence, but said prosecutors had considered a “great deal” more beyond the video
Sorry SCC, this says it all
"FOP waited too long"
Of course you asked to be involved immediately in any way possible! The problem is Martin is so worried about his next book that he screwed the pooch on this one. He should step down.
FOP expected to have been allowed to intervene but failed. My question is how will the FOP pay for this defense?
The FOP must appeal this ruling in the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit
Yet I see veteran coppers, coppers with 20, 25, 30 years on, who volunteer to work these BS overtime missions every day and bring in numbers. The city , state, and Feds shit all over us and they still go out and work. To all you idiots who are doing this, when you get jammed up I will not be buying a ticket to your benefit. Use all the money your making selling out your fellow coppers.
Now I guess round two of the Commanders and Deputy Chiefs coming around to roll call selling some more BS.
This is not going to be pretty.

So is our court system and our judges.
Proactive policing will only get you into trouble. Eventually, it always does.
Why jeopardize your livelihood, freedom, peace of mind, life for any of this? No one will have your back when the time comes. With all the rules, policies, changes, and politics involved, you're set up to fail. It's best just to do the minimum, less if possible.
Yeah right, blah blah blah. I’m done, I’m this, I’m that. Tomorrow we’ll still see idiots bringing in arrests for “obstructing traffic”, reckless conduct, 10.5 grams of cannabis, over 12 riding bicycle on sidewalk, DOPW, possession of cigarettes or alcohol by a minor, various traffic related nonsense, and all kinds of other dumb shit that most older police don’t even know about because you would have been laughed out of the station for even thinking about bringing it in.
It might behoove you to remember that we have only so much money to spend on Benefits boys and girls so take that into account if you are going Rouge and " Saving the World " Your going to miss a lot of Holidays,Birthdays, and Graduations,Maybe your daughters wedding (How come there's no pictures of Dad at your wedding) , Oh yea hes in a Federal Prison with other dumb ass Hair gels who DIDNT STAY FETAL.. And for what ? These Jagoffs, are you Nuts, you must be!
STAY F E T A L OR ELSE !!!!!
This is total bullsh** and this FOP union is no different then the previous ones, I don’t see anyone defending us and I see a myriad of bad decisions being made. How are we going to get our pension guaranteed when the Mayor has a money for a hundred project and none for the police union. The teachers MUST pay 9% into their pension just like any other city employee and the CITY better not back down again because teachers are partly to blame for their pension problems.
soooo, the police union is denied a voice, but a terrorist group is given a voice
I wonder if Mr. Sessions is aware of what is going on? Maybe the FOP should get on a Fox News network show and tell all. They seem to have a direct line to the President...
Which is why my activity for the year is only parkers
Is FOP appealing this?!?
No news on their site....just info from the gold outing! WTF!
COPA seems to be actively looking for heads to mount on the pole at the city gates. They, and other liberal activist groups aided by Lisa Madigan ( you know, the state's chief law enforcement officer who could not find a crooked politician hiding under her bed?). Be careful out there and do what your conscious tells you to do, but be prepared to live with the consequences. I am retired and old school to the bone. I don't think I could or would survive today. Hillard, along with Daley, made the police department a political animal with racial politics in the forefront. Rahm has refined that to a new degree. It makes me sad to think of what my beloved police department as become. There always were problems, political influence, crappy buildings and equipment, incompetent leadership, poor pay and benefits, but it all seemed worth it as we did the job and had some fun besides. Not now.
I'm a broken man these days. Broken. The job I loved has been micro-managed, regulated, and legislated, and vilified into something I no longer even recognize. Never when I started did I think it would come to this. The City of Chicago is doomed. Build a wall around it like they did in the movie 'Escape from New York' and let the animals have it. You can't even walk safely on the street near Water Tower Place anymore. Fuck the City, Fuck the County, and Fuck the State. We're all fucked.
This highlights the importance of judicial appointments.
Well Judge Dow, society is going to have to live with the consequences of your decision to rule against giving the police input into any consent decree. I guess you would rather listen to anti-police segments who have no knowledge or experience in policing than listen to those who actually do the job.
Next time the good judge needs to see a physician he should instead visit a welder. No disrespect meant to welders.
Why didn’t the FOP intervein earlier? In the words of Lucy, “ you got a lot of splaining to do Kevin”.
Looks like the FOP just got told the way the Chicago Way works. Why wait until last minute? Great game plans by the idiots running the FOP. Time to decertify, they have done enough damage to the CPD.
House mice rule. Literally.
The last voice to defend officers on the street failed us. FOP remained silent and lost the chance for input in this major event that will severely impact our actions every day. All of the promises the president made to be elected and now the FOP becomes impotent. Was a deal made between the FOP and the city to keep quiet? WTF1
Hold on! The FOP was given an opportunity to join and rejected it? Then the judge is right! What the hell?!!!! What was the FOP thinking? The judge even acknowledged the FOP should have a voice. Jeez this was a huge tactical error. And the FOP did not deny it.
I’m done too.
I was already starting to slow down a little bit but when possum head weis dry gulched cozzi that was the last straw for me. I'm getting close to retirement and have no regrets. I made a lot of good friends and worked with some incredibly talented police officers and bosses. stay safe and remember to laugh everyday. life is to short to be walking around pissed off all the time.
How the hell do we get a federally supervised consent decree when the federal government isn't requesting or authorizing it?
This is a phony liberal social justice appeasement, created using false narratives and rigged statistics ( such as 70% of all contact cards were of Afro-American persons.....without mentioning that 80% of the crime was occurring in those areas, so that's where 70% of all officers were assigned????)
FOP- take it to the Courts......do NOT let the CPD be burdened with this phony decree.....take it all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary......Rahm, Madigan have no jurisdictional powers to impose a federally supervised decree.....
FOP asleep at the wheel! Again. Great job, Kevin. ONE TERM!
So let me get this right, our FOP Union had a chance to sit in on the Consent Decree but chose not to. It is time to get rid of the FOP and every board member on it. Secondly time for a Blue flu, maybe the weekend of Labor Day everyone call in sick on that Friday and come back to work on Tuesday you know can't clear from medical on the weekend and Monday is a holiday.
Kwame the AG and JB the Gov. with Madigan pulling the strings. A Triple Play. ♠️

----> "Why is a Federal Judge involved in this Consent Decree..." <----
Because Federal Court is where little Lisa Madigan filed the lawsuit against the City and the CPD.
(forcing Rahm to make changes to police training, etc. that he could have just ordered to be done on his own)
I've said this here several times;
Bring your own coffee, pop, lunch in a cooler in your own car,
Take your personals in the station, if isn't clean complain,
Patrol the side streets avoiding the business routes, let them buy their security camera if they choose, but there is little or no business in some districts avoid everything
Limit your traffic stops to what is necessary in the course of an assignment, parkers for handicapped are good activity or maybe the crosswalk or fire hydrant to help out CFD, they'll be the next ones to be railroaded
Assist each other and keep your views to yourself, silence is golden, they can phone film you saying nothing
SHOP outside the COUNTY as much as reasonable, seeing new horizons makes it easier to look at the same old shit
Consider every assignment as an opportunity for some activist to jackpot you and ultimately your family
Think back to think forward, If VanDyk & co had let the PCP head run down the street he would have been run over by some drunk illegal, 2 birds with one stone
FOP is useless. I got 2 things for today.
#DUMPFOP
#IMDONE
Apparently Blue Lives DON'T Matter afterall....
Residency is the killer for the city hiring and keeping good quality employees. So many city workers are leaving because of the antiquated residency rule. I know 1 great teacher and 3 police officers that have left in the last month only because of the residency rule. Just think how many qualified people don’t even apply for jobs in Chicago because of residency.
you'd think after x number of decisions being overturned by a higher court. a incompetent or agenda driven judge be shown the fucking door.
it's not just here. this is everywhere the socialists are in charge.
https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/judicial-errors-cook-county-judge-maura-slattery-boyle-november-election-retention/
no input allowed? lawyer up. dis shit aint gonna fly.
Residency !!!! Time to say bye bye !
The FOP filed a motion to intervene in thr consent decree lawsuit on behalf of its members. Where in federal law does it state that motions are time limited? An appeal of this unjust decision is necessary.
Just in time for the real circus, here comes KWAME..... He will be a solid backer of the preckwinkle/foxx agenda. This means continued disregard of state statutes (where minimum sentencing is covered) no regard for sentencing guidelines, and failure to do the job the people of Cook County elected you to do. Just wait for the preckwinkle hat trick (kwame, foxx, and preckwinkle) that is when the real fun begins.
Someone needs to ask his honor DOW, or DUH as I like to refer to people who can't see the forest because the tree's are in the way, at what point the courts will act to put an end to the criminal behavior of the politicians in the city? Specifically, rahms continual denial and disregard of the safety of the public and hire more police! kim foxx' continual denial of prosecution of the most violent offenders with legitimate evidence and victims! judge evans for ordering low bonds and release of violent offenders! preckwinkle and dart for the systematic emptying of the jail including violent offenders released ONTO the public at large and the failure to monitor other offenders released on electronic monitoring!
I'll tell you when! as soon as they fix the real problem in the city...THE POLICE! ROFLMAO! YOU CAN'T MAKE SHIT LIKE THIS UP!!! FUCKING JOKE AND A SHAME! Starting to believe blm just can't figure out to who?
But hey, the golf outings were great! Fucking useless at every level.
The elected politicians went out of their way to seek, remind and recruit social justice freaks, goons and instigators to come to the table.
This was their intention.
It may seem FOP lost another opportunity but really, does anyone with a half a brain think that some “law” or Contract was going to intercede the Democrat agenda?
“There is no rule or order that forces you to do proactive police work...” @ 8/17/2018 03:45:00 AM
– Since the half brain issue was brought up, can anyone verifying rumor that district Sgts. are riding on jobs and ordering which folks need to be arrested and a case report alone is not enough ?
Who’s falling for that?

Fear that large fat head Pritzker - he’s going to be the one to tax our pension as well as spend big to change the State Constitution to cut the annuities probably in half. He’s doing it all for the sake of Sanctuary City.

Mistake #1, believing the FOP. They are in bed with the city. Once you understand that everything begins to make sense.
S-T-R-I-K-E.
But but but but "No Strike/ No Lockout" clause....
If you think logically, this so called consent decree IS a Lock Out of sorts. Poluve are being literally locked out of policing.
The correct way to change how a City Police Force is operating is to change the MAYOR, the Executive, who is in charge of that decision making.
Sounds like the FOP made the wrong decision if they were offered a part in the negotiations they should have taken it
Thisconsent degree being such a big deal and something that will affect current officers as well as future officer, maybe FOP should have hired outside labor attorneys to protect our interests. When you deal with a federal consent decree, you are going to another level and need attorneys that have handled those cases
Answer your jobs. Arrest on signed complaints. Don’t work so much special employment. Smile and wave.
pensions r gone.
FOP do your job , publish line ups from every district 24/7
show down cars , wagons as beat cars
post number of officers assigned , hiding inside every unit , school , city hall , police facility .
break down the inside folks by gender and race , time on the job
The judge was a law partner of Lori Lightfoot at Mayer brown. What did you expect? Rahm and all democrats must be indicted and jailed.
“TIME TO LIFT RESIDENCY”.... The only reason why I cared about doing any proactive work was because I considered Chicago my home, a place were my children would grow up and I wanted to make home safe for them, but this is ridiculous... I wouldn’t care if I don’t have to live here.
#ImDoneToo
SCC, why so soft on Stay-Puff Marshmallow President Graham? He blew it. He was told to intervene immediately, but decided to listen to Lil' Dean Angelo's lawyers. Pathetic.
While I believe the point of no return has been lost, I really feel bad towards those who have invested 10 plus years on the belief there is a pension at the end. Those not making a bug out plan will be stuck. Those with 10 years or less should be circulating their resume's will the realization staying will put you, your family and your financial future in jeopardy. There are so many other places who will welcome dedicated LE. My hat is off with much respect to those who believe staying will result in a bright future.
Sorry, but I feel it is not going to happen. The rich and well to do love how you keep the wolves at bay, but not enough to back and support you. There are so many places where "Protect and Serve" is respected.
There is no rule or order that forces you to do proactive police work. 99% of the command staff never did. That is why they have exemplary disciplinary records. Time to get smart people!

Exemplary disciplinary records ? The shit some of the departments gold stars have done over the years should have gotten them fired. Domestics which relulted in shots being fired, soap in juveniles mouths, dropping dirty, living outside the city, sticking guns in offenders mouths just to name a few. The list is long .....
But if I stop being the real-po-leece then I can’t wear jeans and a backwards baseball hat.

8/17/2018 01:48:00 AM
Jeff Sessions pimped Trump. He took the job knowing he was going to recuse himself from the Russia probe. Sessions was a senator, so he is part of the swamp.
If Sessions gave a F he would have the US attorney probe Lisa and Rahm’s office’s for any kind of wrong doing. You can’t tell me they wouldn’t find something, anything, regarding sanctuary city/state.

Question: don't the sgts, lts, cpts all have unions??? Why dpes everything have to fall on the FOP??? The other positions have tobride this boat too
So the policeman’s opinion doesn’t matter but the terrorist organization blm get to weigh in heavily on this? Got it. And all you asshole cops still doing proactive police work, ISR’s and other such nonsense, get a damn hobby. You are making us all look bad and you are fueling the liberal agenda by giving them proactive police work while they spit in your face
Inaction speaks louder than words.
Fetality 101.
How about this. We create a civilian agency made up of members of "the community", whose job is to handle the civil disorder problems, drinking on the public way, loud parties, gang loitering (is that even a thing anymore?), selling loosies, and whatever "the community" deems to be the problem-of-the-week.
Should an arrest be necessary, these civilians summon police and sign the complaints.
Maybe someone can expand on this idea.
rb
Everyone on the job needs to vote !! Get rid of Rham, Prickwinkle, Dart, and Kimesha!
I agree with the other post in that the "consent decree" is breach of contract. This is a lockout because the city never exhausted its negotiations with the union. We cannot strike therefore this should be overturned.

The mayor doesn’t give a rats ass about making it easier for you to move to another department or job with your pension. He definitely doesn’t value his employees. You are lucky he allows you to work for the city. They trained you so you owe them. If you don’t like it take you contribution, leave, and start over.

Yea, and dont forget your DOCTORS note since youll be off more than three days. Goof
I may be wrong as I'm not a labor attorney but don't collective bargaining rights outweigh a consent decree? Maybe FOP wants their input at the bargaining table instead of in the community rooms. If they agree to something, then it can't be bargained for.
The only way the FOP will die something ,,, if a golf ball is involved
This is on Keven graham. Several of the board members wanted to get involved but Graham did not want to do it. Several of the FOP Attorneys told Graham not to get involved and because of this Graham said no and that did it. The Old guard in the FOP also did not want to get involved also. From what I was told thee WERE SEVERAL HEATED ARGUMENTS regarding this issue, but the board went along with Graham. There is a problem with this current FOP administration and it is Graham and the left overs from Dean Angelo's regime. Two maybe three current elected officials want to get militant but are voted down all the time. We all know who the two/three officials are. What is a shame is that Graham is doing everything to box them out.
Seems to me like the Cops do have a voice, and they are speaking loud and clear for all to hear. They are in a defensive posture all over the whole country to different degrees. The intensity depends on the scumbag political bosses of the jurisdiction. This is not going to change.

Fear that large fat head Pritzker - he’s going to be the one to tax our pension as well as spend big to change the State Constitution to cut the annuities probably in half.

Kwame doesn't give a damn about the black community. He wants to cozy up to big corporations so they'll fund his run for president.
He thinks being a black guy with an unusual name from the party that spawned Barack makes him a presidential shoo-in
Kwame does'nt have the moral fiber or temperament to be an attorney general. He challenged that big mouth WVON radio host Maze Jackson to a fight while on air a few months ago.
Erika Harold is least worst out the bunch. I think the republicans could reign her in when she goes crazy with her proposed policies
And the post on big head pritzker is absolutely on point. He's corrupt; will continue Madigan's reign and control of the state, and will also whack your pensions and increase your personal income tax.
Illinois is dying now, and will be dead under Kwame Raoul, JB Pritzker, and Rahm Emanuel, who is Pritzker's close buddy.
Domestics which relulted in shots being fired, soap in juveniles mouths, dropping dirty, living outside the city, sticking guns in offenders mouths just to name a few. The list is long .....

You had me there until you tossed in the guns in offenders mouth bullshit.
Gee. You must have some super secret investigative knowledge or info that three ex states attorneys, four judges, a federal magistrate, at least six corporation counsel attorneys, two investigators, dozens of cops, three forensic specialists, six top notch private attorneys and dozens of other people that attended the court proceedings and or read the transcripts lack,or don’t know about.
If you were as smart as you’d like to think, you’d know that that was a railroad job, and the only ones that broke the law were the media, ipra, and the states attorneys staff and their witnesses that put on that sham case. The only abused guy was the guy charged.
We know you want that gold star , Lt MB or MS. Too bad. Covering up the cheating lieutenants scandal or sucking up to EX Chief JR isn’t going to help either of you get one.
