You can go online and read a draft of the proposed reforms, negotiated between City Hall and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, and add your thoughts.

It's not so much changing the CPD, it's making sure laws are enforced and penalties are handed out.
Cook County Courts need to stop letting criminals go with a slap on the wrist (if that) and start imposing REAL penalties.
Doesn't matter if we are talking about crimes committed with guns, assaults, robberies, car-jacking, drug dealing - HAND OUT A REAL SENTENCE AND PENALTY!
If Chicago is going to operate like the Wild West, then as someone else suggested, "horse thieves were hung." Car thieves (car-jackers) using a gun should be hung. The sentence should be carried out within 90 days of being found guilty, any appeals need to be adjudicated within a timeframe of one year or less. So the total time you can wait is only a year and 90 days. No 20-30 years sitting on Death Row watching TV.
Start doing that and you'll see how fast car-jacking is no longer a crime to worry about.

And this will be FOP's as usual easy out.

The police department is not the problem, other than it may as an armed body, resist change.

For one, and all, the people in charge of this reorganization are actually the major problem with society. Their policies have actually destroyed the city, county, and state. Their liberal, we can fix anything attitude has created the problem. The problem was & is, that there was no problem to begin with, certain people & folks just want to be exempted from the rules of civilization. Basically an effort to give certain factions a get out of jail card, which over time went from being used to get out of a ticket, then maybe a minor disturbance, then to a theft, a burglary, and until we finally got to murder and mayhem where we are now. IF YOU TRULY WANT ORDER THEN YOU NEED TO ENFORCE RULES EQUALLY & CONSISTENTLY ACCROSS THE BOARD! When & where it occurs are the considerations, not what color commits/performs it!
You don't send the Fire Dept. to the north side when the fire is on the south & west sides!
This however is easier said than done, but that is the challenge and path to civility!!! SO ARE WE GOING TO MAKE RULES THAT ADDRESS THE REAL ISSUE OF THE GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD OR ARE WE GOING TO ADD THE EXCEPTION LIST OF MURDER AND MAYHEM?????

What about us? We hadon't no say in this piece of trash. Why not? CONSENT IMPLIES EVERYONE IS ON BOARD. We had no input so how can we be on board?

I stopped reading at paragraph 42. I'm bored. But just to comment on paragraph # 28: 'Arrestee's' don't have the right to an attorney. The issue is when does the right to representation attach? Does it attach when someone is contacted, arrested, booked, arraigned? The 5th Amendment's right to representation provision was extended (Miranda) to an arrestee if the arrestee was to be interrogated. If there is no interrogation then the right to representation does not apply. The 6th Amendment's right to representation starts when the defendant is arraigned. Thus, paragraph 28 is attempting to extent the right to representation to an arrestee rather than a defendant. I feel this will handcuff cops even further. On the flip side, let the city burn! Pass the popcorn!

Forget the consent decree! I'd settle for a morals clause when they take office, but that's impossible because they have "all" already sold their souls to some special interest to get there! The shame is that this has happened at every level of government across this nation and it is treason and yet goes unabated. What do you expect with the FBI covering up democ"RAT" criminal acts, they can't/wont/don't protect the people! We the People is just a tag line and no longer has any real meaning!

Started reading through that consent decree. Had to stop. Are they nuts. All they talk about is having more “mumbojumbo” meeting to address crime. Of course now you need more people working inside to write responses why it’s not working and where we can fix blame. My biggest concern is we don’t have enough office space for everyone and they’ll be working in crowded conditions. I know, let’s blame the crime rate on that.
Will a copy of the decree go on display in the BO library for all folks to read. BO will be so proud knowing all this would have never come about if it wasn’t for him and holder. What a great pos the both of them. Good luck Chicago your going to need it.

FOP Can't do much because the members talk big but when the FOP wants to take some action most of the members take a back step. This has happened many times in the past. Too many members in special units and soft spots who do not want to rock the boat. Just caring about themselves and the good spot they have.
Here's what I'll suggest. These 3 changes will solve all of Chicago's problems and turn it into the quintessential progressive utopia.
1. Write it into law that black people and folks are exempt from obeying criminal and traffic laws.
2. Abolish the Chicago Police Department. Prosecute all nonexempt ranks for war crimes and send them to the gallows. Give BLM police powers and make them a federal agency.
3. Confiscate all assets of caucasian citizens unless they donate heavily to the Democrat party. If they object, beat and hang them from light poles for hate speach.
Just as long as the internet stays unlimited I'm good. Consent decree or not Im still a proud DOG and nothing will change that. Now let me sign up for those 4 days of OT for memorial day weekend and let me get the rest of my VRI. This city had made this job way to easy and for the DOG officers we thank you.

I've read the decree... Whole thing. It's a lot of nothing and a few inevitables. I posted some comments to the site, but we all know it's an exercise in futility.
I almost can't wait for this consent decree to come down. Not that I've needed much of an excuse to lay down lately .... But this will all but solidify my fetal state in this department. I'm taking an "early working retirement" if you will.
Can we get our opinion in on the recent promotions?
