Someone who was taken out of a police station in handcuffs should NEVER even get a sniff at a "merit" promotion. You can't trust them not to embarrass the Department or their sponsors. This goof has gotten multiple bumps based on politics, and now he's got an Inspector General beef:
- Good morning, I wanted to pass along to you some information that has been making the rounds in 025 regarding Crazy Tony. I emailed you about a month ago regarding the CAPS office picking up Escamerit‘s son from Summer camp in city vehicles.
Well it looks like someone finally had enough and beefed on him regarding this situation.
All officers from 025th District CAPS office has been called individually to IAD to give statements regarding picking up his son not only from summer camp but school as well.
There are rules against transporting non-police personnel in Department vehicles - the City liability is incredibly high should something bad happen. Escamerit has been using his CAPS sergeant as some sort of free Uber or Lyft service and then using the CAPS officers as babysitters for 4 hours a day or more, when they should be at least pretending to do CAPS related stuff. You'd think a commander could afford some sort of daycare or a babysitter, rather than have taxpayers footing the bill.
So, how long until this one gets swept under the rug? IAD is in possession of pictures. That should make the issue harder to hide.

Let's see how many commanders drive their families all over in their city vehicle. The commander of 009 who doesnt even live in the city drives his kids all over the suburbs in his city car. Nothing will happen to any boss. That has been proven time after time.
Guaranteed NOTHING will happen to him other than a verbal reprimand, "don't do that anymore please." They will either promote him or let him retire quietly like all the bosses involved with the van dyke case, or all the chiefs & deputies involved with the last Lt cheating scandal.

IAD has pictures of a department vehicle transporting Escamerit’s son from summer camp at Oriole Park driven by the CAPS sergeant and an officer. One of the pictures show the license plate clearly visible.

Ugly situation. A couple of comments might pop up from some fellow sycophants of Escamerit, claiming that this latest attack against him is a low blow. His son has special needs. A sad and hard situation for any parent to deal with. This isn't about that. I'll give you two stories that show you the overall caliber of Escamerit's poor character in dealing with this situation.
Story #1: Escamerit's son was unsupervised while a Sgt was inside of Lockup signing the log book. His son ran inside the lockup and started speaking to the prisoners in their cells. An officer that hated Escamerit witnessed this inappropriate occurrence and wanted to call DCFS. The SGT., a good hearted and very beloved supervisor talked the officer out of doing it. After all, it's not the kids fault his dad is a creep. What happened to that Sgt later down the line? He got fucked with by Escamerit for refusing to fail an officer's evaluation, on a direct order from him, because the Merit Man had a bullshit personal vendetta against that officer. Like many other patrolmen and white shirts, this Sgt left 025 after the harassment.
Story #2: An officer was eating a large pizza while handling a big felony arrest in the station. The kid (again unsupervised) saw him and wanted some food. The officer, even though he hated Escamerit, obliged and told him to take the leftovers. When the kid turned around the corner from the processing area, the kind officer heard the Commander yell at him, "Not again! God dammit I told you to quit stealing food!" The officer, despite his dislike for the Commander, got up and went around the corner to tell the Commander that he gave his son permission to take the pizza. Because after all, it's not the kids fault his dad is a creep. This calmed the Commander down at the time. What happened to that officer later down the line? Fucked with and dumped from the beat car he was assigned to. Even though he led the watch in having the most arrests. A lack of ISRs was dipshit Escamerit's lame excuse for harassing another copper over a personal beef having to do with trivial matters.
So yeah, dirty business, but oh well. Escamerit is a retarded force of meritorious nature that has little regard for what anyone else under his command is going through in their personal lives. Are you caring for an invalid parent at home? Fuck you bring me numbers! Aw, your going through a rough divorce and working three jobs to bring in ends meat? Fuck you bring me numbers! Relative died? Anyway she had an openly displayed car seat in the rear of her department vehicle which she used to transport her kid. When this drew the attention of the 1st deputy s by e said it was used to demonstrate the proper installation of the car seat to inquiring people.oh I remember her name Roberta Bartik

My kids go to school in Wilmette and I see unmarked squads dropping students off and picking up everyday.
Fucking 025 CAPS officers are party planners with a badge, every other day they have a party in the community room. I can only imagine the war stories they tell their family and friends because they’re assigned to 025, a pretty dangerous district.

I'm NYPD working as det. III in Brooklyn North. There is something I can't understand. Both in NYC and DC, I've met a great bunch of CPD guys. They tell me that ALL CPD, including housecats and those that work in slow pcts. get the same bonus which the City of Chicago calls "duty availability".
After reading the violent crime statistics above at 5:59 PM, I ask myself if your FOP is aware that in every major PD in the nation, officers working the streets during the hours of darkness get SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL pay. When I see that your 11th District has an exponential volume of murders and other violent crime, it's obvious that house mice shuffling paper at HQ and other administrative inside jobs should only be the baseline for salary. Fairness screams out that those officers who work shifts during the hours of darkness should have a handsome bonus, particularly when they work the streets in a pct. like 011.
Why in the name of God should your house mice benefit with extra pay. If they want it, bid for street duty in your fast districts during the hours of darkness.
BTW, our most violent pcts. that may give your 011 a run for notoriety is our 73rd (Bronzeville) and the 75th (East New York), both in Brooklyn North. Several other pcts. in both Brooklyn and the Bronx are also bloody.

At one time the department was a two way street. If a boss fucks over the troops it will come back at that boss in many ways.

You are wrong. They demoted a black captain back to lieutenant for some off duty-strip club nonsense. Captain is an appointed rank and has been for 20 years or better. Remember the new police department and be the change!

That was Buslik when he was a Capt. in 025 and a panel reviewed the case and found no culpability on his part. His only sin was trying to keep the news media from a secure area in the station including the parking lot where the coppers park. A few media whores cried to Charlie Williams who tried to fuck him. Buslik remained a captain. Nate Hamilton who just passed away (a great guy) was promoted to captain in 2004; however, he was put back to lieutenant after 2 years as he didn't obtain a bachelor's degree which was required. They were given 2 years to get it after they were promoted and Nate just never did. RIP.

Captains are "Senior Executive Service (SES)." They can be demoted back to Lt. for cause. I only remember it happening once as someone pointed out here. And there is no more civil service. It's career service now. That's what P.O.'s, sgts. & Lt.'s are. They can't be demoted to their prior rank, only fired.
And cline hired back a lot of p.o’s that were fired by Hillard

Escamerit had his secretary and assistant, who was on furlough working the cuban fest on overtime for 3 days. They did nothing but sit there and eat and watch tv. How can you bring someone in on furlough to work Ot? Also tried to get Sgt. I.R. to be CAPS sgt. He wants to use I.R.'s merit clout, Ald. Reyboyas to help Escamerit get promoted. This man has no shame.

But he was promoted to commander from the rank of lieutenant, not captain. If you're promoted to exempt from captain, you are demoted to captain at the discretion of the department. There's an actual procedure for being demoted from captain to lieutenant, and whether they've been a captain over or under six months.

For real? If so why have any rules and regulations and a contract if a commander can just ignore and violate them. District guys should file a grievance if they have more seniority on a preplanned event. If you don’t protect your rights and contract it your own fault. Plus the OT you receive from the grievean e is nice

Rules only apply to blue shirts. There’s a Sgt on SWAT that uses his take home Tahoe to take his son to school on the NW side. I’ve seen him with a female in the take home. Big dude that looks like the Sherminator in the face from American Pie. He’s the one that uses lights and sirens to go through traffic. Guess he’s sooo special. Like I said, rules are for the blue shirts.

He’s an asshole. I’ve seen him ride the shoulder or turn on the lights out of the city on 90 west. He always has some female in the car. He drives like an asshole. Any city employee with a take home vehicle has used it for personall "activities". Take a look at the vehicles used dropping kids off at the local school. Why you may even find a spouse driving the unmarked car.

I had a take home vehicle the majority of my cpd career. Never, not once, did I ever use my work car for a personal reason. Never drove a civilian in it, never stopped at the store on the way home, never drove it off duty. Some of us abide by the rules.
Captain's have a 6 month evaluation period in which they can be returned to lieutenant by the superintendent. This was what occurred with the female captain and the black captain. Two or three were demoted for not obtaining a bachelor degree and when they did acquire the degree, were reinstated to captain.
