What's This? And Why?

  • A rejected House bill that would have extended new pension perks to select Chicago aldermen could see another day.

State lawmakers will reconvene Nov. 13 for veto session, during which they will have the opportunity to override Gov. Bruce Rauner’s veto on any bill from the regular session.

One of those bills will be House Bill 5342, a proposal sponsored by state Rep. Robert Martwick, D-Chicago, that would provide an exclusive pension boost to Chicago aldermen who formerly worked for the Chicago Fire Department. The bill would amend the Illinois Pension Code by redefining “active fireman” under the Chicago Firefighter Article to include former firemen currently serving on the Chicago City Council.
How many former firefighters are actually on the City Council right now? Two? Four? So Martwick is going to rewrite the law to benefit a tiny sliver of an already limited club. Why?

Who was running against Martwick last week? A CPD sergeant? And the State FOP Lodge endorsed Martwick so he could introduce a bill to benefit less than half-a-dozen former firefighters?

This state is so fucked up it’s beyond comprehension! When is enough enough??? Why so much greed and “legal” theft? I thought the pension was beyond repair in Illinois??? We hear about it all the time. Screw you Martwick! And screw you to the fools that voted for this clown! This won’t help Alderman Naps get votes. Expect his opponent to bring it up.

How fucking shady! What’s the back room deal on this? So Martwick did this out of the kindness of his heart? What’s the favor someone gets in return? There’s hardly anyone that falls under this bill. What taxpayer gets fucked on this? Any investigative reporters curious?

Off topic,

Police Pursuits. KSTP-TV Channel 5 is running a series on whether Police Pursuits are a good practice. This is after a fleeing felon ran over three children on a playground. One was badly broken up, and spent all Summer in the hospital, and is a toddler learning how to walk again. (Previous felon, only got 2-1/2 years). During the research, another fleeing felon wrapped his stolen SUV around a light pole and three innocent bystanders, killing all three. Both were being chased by the Minnesota Highway Patrol off the freeway system onto city streets.

KSTP has an expert LEO Trainer opining that no one should chase traffic violations or stolen cars.
It looks to be a multiple part / day story. Nothing at the web site yet.

Alderman Nicholas Sposato is a couple years short to qualify for both an alderman's pension and a firefighter's pension to the best of my understanding. Remember that Alderman Sposato has stood up for the CPD through thick and thin. For his sake, I hope this gets passed. It's common knowledge that he suffers from MS. He's worked hard both as a firefighter and as an alderman. He should receive a pension for his public service.

The Dems. own everything in this State, County & City. Look at some of the totals: JB 61.20%, Rauner 15.23%. Martwick 61.20, Kessim 38.80%, Raoul 80.85, Harold 17.01. And it goes on and on. And the judges, unbelievable how much they are liked!! Here is how they win. The majority of people have no idea of whom they are voting for. But the Machine starts with the robocalls, then the big glossy mailers, (I got 15 from Martwick), then they go to the poll where 5 guys who look like they could break your kneecaps are giving you the palmcards that say who to vote for. So what do the sheep do while shaking in the pens? They take the easy way out and take all the "suggestions." They were led to the slaughter by the Dems. They are more powerful and dirtier than the Mob or the Cartels. Don't forget Martwick is closely aligned with Arena and Berrios. Fighting the system here is futile it is too entrenched.

Napolitano and Sposato are the only two former fire fighters presently on the city council to the best of my knowledge.
Aside from their former mutual city fire department vocation, they both share a lot in common.
Collectively, they have done more in support of the Chicago police department than the rest of the council combined. A few others may have 'talked the talk' but Anthony and Nick have been on our side since day one.
(Naps was also a member of CPD before laterally moving over to the CFD side)
Ask around to those that live in their wards, followed or witnessed many of their pro CPD support and activities etc.
While I'm not necessarily a fan of the mayor and the (rest of) city council I've seen many alderman come and go in my near four decades "on da' job" and I have to give credit where it's due.
And, oh yeah, they're the only two Republicans on the council which also explains why they don't rubber stamp 'every' Rham proposal along party lines.
God Bless and watch over all my brothers and sisters on the CPD along with those that have our back.
Stay Safe.

Related to Pensions:

https://www.truthinaccounting.org/news/detail/chicago-police-and-fire-pension-plans-growing-flush-or-going-broke

"The latest annual financial report for the City of Chicago’s firefighter pension fund (2017) showed a funded ratio (technically called the “plan fiduciary net position as a percentage of the total pension liability”) of 20 percent.

Not 100 percent, not 80 percent. Twenty percent.

The City of Chicago’s police pension fund wasn’t much better, coming in at about 24 percent in 2017."

The rest of the article shows exactly how much more shady that 24 percent is considering how creatively the city actuaries count assets. So for the "I'm only in it for the pension" group out there, the math isn't exactly looking like green pastures. Of course the city and state can keep kicking the can down the road via court orders and tax hikes, but eventually reality will sink in. Politicians lie. Numbers don't. It has already been a hard reality for retirees when the health benefits were cut. Can you imagine getting an IOU in the mail? I just hope that more people are aware at the sad state of our pension fund, especially the new people.

This is meant to give a bonus to former firefighters by considering them to be "active firefighters" simply because they're aldermen. An alderman is not a firefighter. They get a ridiculous pension as it is for being aldermen. They don't need or deserve a boost to that pension, regardless of their former occupation, or how they feel about the police. If an alderman doesn't serve long enough to receive a pension, regardless of his medical status, too bad. If he didn't serve long enough as a firefighter to receive a pension, too bad. You don't get to redefine terms to benefit your friends just because you like them and they're good to you. An active firefighter is someone who actively works as a firefighter. This is a completely ridiculous idea.

No soup for you CPD - of course.

This could only be a test on Addendums on the IL Constitution, part of an eventual JB JagBag Pension Tax Plan.
The only way to alter and diminish a pension is through addendum, which is a significant tax on all IL pensions and $2 Billion Sanctuary revenue boost - thank you very much.

Pass this addendum and watch for more to roll in to effect First Responders and not for good intention.

Then over here:

Mother of security guard shot dead by cop at bar wants ‘to see justice done’

https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/jemel-roberson-security-guard-shooting-midlothian-police-officer-robbins-bar/

The mother of a security guard who was shot and killed by a police officer while trying to apprehend a gunman at a south suburban bar said Tuesday she didn’t know if her son had been mistaken by police as one of the offenders.

“I don’t know if it was a mistake or not,” said Beatrice Roberson.

“I do want to see justice done,” she said during a brief phone interview Tuesday morning.

A white Midlothian Police officer, responding to a shooting at Manny’s Blue Room tavern in neighboring Robbins to lend assistance, shot African-American security guard Jemel Roberson, 26, who was armed and reacting to a shooting that happened inside the bar moments earlier, authorities said.

Momma smelling that huge payout coming says she does not know if this was a "mistake" or not! is this insane crazy moron really saying no mistake that police kilt her kid? Had a 30 year CPD career never once has a copper intentionally killed an innocent person! And they have to mention a "white" police officer and the hating police media happily reports it! how many stories with blacks involved is the race omitted purposely? If the reporters are so in bed with lying, why don't they move into say the west side,or englewood to see how the non-race reported folks/people live? The answer they are so scared, and frightened but they are brave reporting other races!

Why coppers anywhere get involved in this bullshit and respond quickly to ghetto nonsense is beyond any reasoning! Another young copper with a skull full of mush getting jammed up, maybe our own backwards baseball cap, jeep wrangler lifted wranglers with the punisher decals can learn also!

--- We have had a non-pursuit policy for years here. People were suing the fuck out of the city and the department every time a criminal maimed or killed a bystander because the police tried to arrest him while fleeing. If they started handing out the death penalty for every asshole who murdered an innocent while actively fleeing the police in a vehicle, this shit would come to a halt. But instead, they blame the police for everything because it is easier and more profitable than holding the real criminal accountable. This is what they want so give it to them. This job just keeps getting easier thanks to the stupidity of the politicians and their constituents.

Rep Marwick is a JUNIOR. His daddy was a long time boss for the Harwood Heights or Norridge and the Cook County Democrat Party Treasurer. Senior is a huge ally of Madigan. Martwick Junior lived in the burbs and first got in the Illinois House as a suburbanite.

Only very recently, Martwick moved to guess where? The east end of the 38th ward, close to Jeff Park and his buddy John Arena.

Martwick has become the 38th Ward Democratic Committeeman. Do you see it yet?

Sposato endorsed Martwick this time around for state rep, over Sgt Kessem. Martwick fixes Rauner's pension veto. Sposato can retire and Martwick will be anointed 38th Ward Alderman.

Martwick had to beat Ammie Kessem so he didn't look like a total bustout running for alderman.

Sposato will run unopposed in 2019, and win. Martwick and Arena can focus their attacks on Napolitano and try to oust him for Elmwood Park Fireman Progressive Henegan. Sposato will retire 2 years later and Progressive Martwick will be appointed 38th Ward Alderman.

Prog buddies Arena, Martwick and Henegan will have a strangle hold on the NW Side. They will build Section 8 housing projects like 5150 in each ward to protect their voting base.

Get ready. That's the plan. Never say you weren't warned....

UST follow the current rules. He was fully aware of the pension situation when he gave up fire job to become Alderman. If he's short time to bad his choice. But since he is a Democrat he will get your money. Not his money your money. Enjoy paying him more.

Just curious how much are the city residents willing to pay to make city and state solvent? Ten, twenty or thirty thousand dollars, winch after earnings taxes will mean earning at least 15,28 or 40K PER HOUSEHOLD MEMBER to make state solvent. Ready to take that second or third job to pay the public employees pensions? Didn't think so. Bankruptcy is looming city and state will not be able to borrow their way out of this hole the Democrats have dug. Yes Democrats, despite some token Republicans in state government the corrupt Chicago Democratic Machine and Mile Madigan have total control of all State functions. It is not a question of if your going to pay only how much your going to be forced to cough up. Enjoy the ride.

There is no reaching them. I have tried. I honestly no longer care when coppers get jammed up. So many coppers out there think that coppers in CPD are stripped for bullshit. Not true. Learn the stories of coppers at callback. We have a lot of fucked up people on this job.

Gov.-elect J.B. Pritzker helped bankroll, to the tune of $7 million, the campaigns for House Democrats who won big enough to give powerful Speaker Michael Madigan even more muscle in Springfield, according to state election records.

That’s a fraction of the $170 million-plus that Pritzker, a billionaire heir to the Hyatt hotel chain, pumped into his own campaign. But the $7 million was a healthy cut of the money spent on House races, and it helped, Madigan spokesman Steve Brown said.

It’s an ongoing program to assist officers in returning to the generally collegial atmosphere pre-Bubblehead. Some officers are taking longer than others to make the adjustment.

11/13/2018 02:27:00 PM

They do not believe it. Take BLM. They believe cops are constantly killing black people, and killing them for no good reason. A minority civilian once told me it statistically stands to reason that a certain percentage of CPD police shootings have to be unjustified. With nothing to validate his opinion, he believed our number of unjustified police shootings was north of 20%. And, there are many of the community in agreement with him. That is their perception of us.

I wish our Midlothian brother good luck in the coming days, weeks, months and years. I hope he can keep the faith and stay strong.

This bill is for Alderman Sposato.

The deal is that when the bill passes, Sposato can retire and then Martwick will get appointed as 38th Ward Alderman.

Sposato already gave Martwick the Committeeman seat.

11/13/2018 03:18:00 PM

Yup.

Lets connect some dots here.

Former CFD Sposato was first elected as 36th Ward alderman in 2011, defeating the Banks/DeLeo clan. With the 2012 remap he was mapped out of the 36th. He moves to a house that was mapped into the 38th Ward.

In 2015 Spostato runs in 38th, defeating the Cullerton Clan's handpicked choice. Two years later he wins the 38th Ward Dem Committeeman seat when Patricia J Cullerton choses not to run. Oh. And Nick makes peace with Billy Banks and Jimmy DeLeo.

Meanwhile Robbie Martwick has the 19th House District seat bequeathed to him by his father, Norwood Park Township Dem Committeeman Bob Martwick, Mike Madigan, Joe Berrios, and Joe Lyons. He subsequently moves from his Norridge base to the 38th Ward.

In 2017 Sposato resigns as Dem Ward Committeeman & recommends Robbie Martwick for the post. Sposato also declares he will run again for 38th Ward alderman with this being his last term. And yes, the scuttlebutt is once re-elected Sposato will resign with the 38th Ward being turned over Martwick, a staunch Alderasshole Arena ally.

Personally I appreciate Sposato's support for PO's. And his service as CFD. Yet that support & service does not justify this political payback funded by the taxpayers.

Besides. Why does any person in elected office deserve a pension?

11/14/2018 06:15:00 AM

Just look at all the support for letting someone collect a pension he is not entitled to. He's a nice guy so let him have it attitude makes me sick. Either he earned it or he didn't. In Chicago even the police will side with pension fraud if they think you vote the right way and thats no different than what the dems have done for years. You ether have ethics or you don't.

Bill Cunningham stated at a town hall meeting at Mt Greenwood park that if our pension goes broke we will still get paid. The money will then come from the cities operating budget. And that it is written in the state laws or constitution. I don't remember which.

Alderman can retire with only 20 year of service and receive 80% of saLARY based on the LAST MONTH OF WORK!!!

Kid get some time on the job! Why should he catch a break because he pushed a few laws that he would benefit from?

He could have went on disability if he stayed a fireman.

But the cost is astronomical:
It works out to $48,000 per job. The remaining $325 million to $505 million will be in the form of cash grants dispersed over 10 to 15 years, depending whether Amazon goes beyond its job goals

He will get a pension. He doesn't deserve a special bonus to the pension just because he was CFD.

My brother in law, who paid 6.5% of his income into Soc. Security, often remarks about how rich I’ll be with my Big City pension failing to mention that I paid about 10% of my salary into it over the years. He also thinks it’s OK that government employees only get a fraction of their SS benefits regardless of how many quarters they earned in the service or on part time jobs. Someone should set the record straight.

another way Martwick will f--k the average guy. Sposato knew what he was getting into. He know wants special treatment just like all the others. Call his office and they always tell you call 311 for a cr number. Anything to get more pension from the taxpayers.

If someone wants a twenty year CHICAGO police pension then you should serve as a cop in Chicago for 20 years. Period. No exceptions. Whether someone is a good guy doesn’t matter. You can’t change state law because one guy is a nice guy. That’s dumb thinking

Just because he doesn't profess his hatred for cops means he should get something helse has not earned. Another case of given not earned. L3t him earn it like everyone else. If you will be opening another door for the Alder thieves to raid. And they will raid it.

He knew what he was doing when he ran. Better to steal more as an Alderman they coll3ct CPD pension. In long run way ahead as an Alderman. He doesn't need extra has plenty socked away. If Alderman is part time job why is there and pension to begin with.

If this bill is for Alderman Sposato then let it pass. Alderman Sposato is ONE OF THE BEST in the City Counsel. He has stood up for the Police on every occasion. He is one of the only alderman who you can go to his office and talk with, without having to go through the Ward Secretary.

Your joking right? The only thing he has done that has been positive is help with getting stray dogs adopted. He stabbed his entire ward in the back by playing political games with our children's education. He hasn't done shit. Big deal he stands up for the CPD and CFD. He should be standing up for all the citizens he is supposed to representing. Smoke and mirrors and talking out of both sides of his mouth are his best qualities. As for walking into his office and talking to him, good luck....

Hey Sposato,

Stop it already. We have had enough of your lies. This is most likely the reason you gave away our land to another ward to build a high school on. A high school that kids from your ward will not be able to attend. There will be other challengers that support the police. Anyone but you. You sold your soul And our kids’ future for a pension. You jagoff.

11/13/2018 08:10:00 AM

Heard about the school issue, but I don't have kids and don't live in 38. Have family that we're CPD and know Sposato is a supporter. Sposato is a pussycat compared to the asshole I'm stuck with, his name is Arena, I'm sure you've heard of him.
