Good Samaritan Learns Lesson
Not that we wish ill upon anyone (except Shanks, Rahm, Durbin...okay, we wish a lot of ill sometimes), but some people are just dumb:
- A 32-year-old homeless man allegedly stabbed a man and tried to steal his van during an incident that ended in a crash and chase in the River North neighborhood Saturday morning.
It happened about 8 a.m. in the 200 block of East Hubbard Street as a 39-year-old good Samaritan offered to take the 32-year-old man to his home for a shower and to clean up, Chicago police said.
After they got into a van, the 32-year-old pulled a knife and began trying to stab the older man while he was driving, police said.
The 39-year-old jumped out of his van but grabbed onto its side door as the homeless man tried to drive away with it, crashing instead.
How long are they going to stick with this "good Samaritan" routine? Anyone know if there's a "stroll" over on East Hubbard?

There has been a gay "stroll" on Hubbard st. since at least the mid 1990s when I worked in 018. As I recall, the setup wa mainly older white male 'Johns' patronizing mostly black male hustlers.

Oh yeah picking up a homeless dude for a bath....ok buddy everyone believes you!!! Everyone that’s NOT the police....Back in the day that whole area was a strolling area but these days the whole city could be seen as a “strolling area” this city has become trash...so sad. i’m sure the media will eat this story up.

Fuck the homeless. Mom's always said "stay away from those assholes - they all have knives" - she was right. Dont' forget the lice, scabies, diseases, and any number of other insane things they're infested with.

Don't we all invite random guys over for showers? It's the right thing to do.
The victim told the media he will not sign complaints.
In this instance, the victim has bridged the gap between sympathetic and pathetic and totally made a 10 point upright landing on pathetic.
What a complete moron. Taking street urchins to his home to take showers? Maybe he likes getting into the shower and soaping everybody up. Lucky he didn't die in the crash. Or maybe not so lucky for us.

Guy I went to high school with (80's) got killed "strolling" a couple years back. Took homeless guy back to his place where the shithead beat him to death, left, then returned to steal stuff and set the body on fire. .

Couple of “red flags” on this one:
1. Single male picks up homeless male and takes him home for a “shower”. This isn’t Lake Woebegone, MN, folks - “Good Samaritans” don’t pick up random young homeless men in order to do “good works”.
2. “Good Samaritan” doesn’t want to file a report, even after being stabbed and having his van stolen and wrecked.
The reporters at the Chicago Tribune must be absolutely lacking in curiosity and imagination to have written such a shallow story. Although one obvious explanation has already been put forth (retail sexual activity), another possibility is that the “victim” was into something more sinister, like serial killing. That could explain why the homeless man decided to attack the driver of a moving vehicle (while he was inside it), the use of a van (not the urban pick-up vehicle of choice) and why the presumed “victim” isn’t filing a report.
Journalism is dead.

I’m not sure the “victim” here is giving an accurate portrayal of what exactly happened in this case. From what I’ve read, the story isn’t adding up in my opinion.

old man worked at 54 west hubbard in the 70 s. hubbard st. was "funny" even back then. and not funny ha ha.
I think in this case he was a Good Samaritan because he refused to sign complaints and said “ god will judge him not me”
