No Weekend Garages

Don't get a flat tire on the weekends anymore:
  • In the latest of a series of dumb moves that compromise the safety of cops and citizens, the Department is closing all maintenance garages on weekends. So if you get a flat tire or crack a windshield, the vehicle will remain un-serviceable and unrepaired for the entire weekend. In fact, if you wreck a car, you won't even be able to get a pool car, leaving the District down a vehicle.
Not even a skeleton crew to give you a tire. Amazing.

You forgot to mention no gas at Belmont and western over the weekends... because that makes sense.

The court house at 51/Wentworth is closing January 4, 2019. All cases will be sent to 111th St. County rep said the jail is empty so they can’t justify running the courthouses. Belmont/Western also to be closed with cases to be heard at Skokie. The desk crew will be given cta vouchers for victims and offenders who didn’t get the memo. Signs are bring printed up now by the county.

Things were so much better when the garages
were run by The Police.

You could actually get your squad fixed
or if you were in good with the mechanics,
you could keep your squad in good running
condition.

It ain't your car but try to take good care of it.

P.S.
Deeply desired to kick a pocket in the ass of
the m/fer who would chop all the fucking rubber
off the steering wheels, cut up the dash, leave
left over fish and cole slaw under the seats/in the
glove box, leave their leaking terbacky juice cups, etc...

Those are the same people who don't
bother moving the dishes out of the
way at home when they take a piss...

Foul is foul no matter where it is.

SCC what's wrong with you??? How's the city supposed to man these services??? City is beyond broke, can't pay the pensions!!! So 9 1/2 has money for pork projects, parks and non-library libraries but, do you think the city will waste $$$ trying to keep the "HUGELY UNDERSTAFFED" finely tuned machine that Ed & 9 1/2 have created up & running??? Besides with a car broke here, car broke there, everywhere...oh you get it...so maybe 1 or 2 or 3 car jackings may not happen....it's not like there's a crime wave going on!!! Hey you got swat now, what the hell else do you want for the "MILLIONS" the city, county and state pisses away each & every day on interest alone... Don't worry, when this new bunch gets done there won't be enough meat on the bones, hell there might not be bones left!!! FUNNY & SAD WHAT LOYAL DEMOCRAT"S GET!!! THIS SHOULD BE A MESSAGE TO YOU, EACH & EVERYONE, YOU VOTED FOR DEMOC"RATS" AND NOW YOU GET WHAT YOU WANTED.....FUCKED ROYALLY!!!

They have been closed every night of the week after 2100 for the past 2 or 3 months. No spare tires and no wipers, (the R-man doesnt always have spares), so days has to run and get the tires now. That sucks for days, and for anyone who has to ride around all night without a spare, and who may get stranded if the spare is or gets flat as well.

Don't believe it for a moment. There will always be a service writer available for a tire exchange or a pool car. However, if somehow that actually did get implemented, it would be overturned in one week if cars were not accepted by weekend watches for safety reasons [c'mon, that would be an easy no brainer] and, well,... flats are pretty easy to arrange.

Somewhere, the ghost of a cop from 1950 is rolling his eyes, because he had to change his own tire back in the day. Maybe they don't have spares in the trunk anymore? Fix-a-flat? Anyway, if you're willing to get her towed out to Melrose Park, I'd be happy to change the tire for you.

I've got a better idea and money saver. Change the Police work schedule back to an 8 hour day and make it Monday - Friday. Shutdown all police work and shutdown all Police Stations on the Weekend. The Public will have to defend themselves over the Weekend. While your at it go ahead and add in the Holidays. Remember Rahms sanctuary city represents his Chicago Values and I'm sure they will follow all Federal, State and City Laws.

Don’t have much time on but they aren’t the same cars. Most of the crown vics (best car in my opinion) have been replaced with the tahoes, then the tahoes with the fords. If I got a flat and was able to make it I would drive to the area and change it myself. On multiple occasions I had to change a flat on the crown Vic in the field. Easy fix. When we first got the Tahoe’s I Changed a flat (in the field) once and it was a giant pain in the ass. Especially in shitty weather. Never changed a tire on the new fords.

Besides that I never went to the area and had the tire changed. We always changed it ourselves. So just keep the garage open. Coppers change their own tires anyway.

Old long retired guy here.
We used to have to change our own tires, and if you had a flat, you went to the station where they had a rack and you exchanged your flat tire for a inflated nearly bald tire. Some one in the Daley administration was making a ton of money on tires we never saw.
We had a scrap yard in our district, so if you wanted better tires, you bummed them off the scrap yard.

- Good gosh! Perish the thought....winter and midnights.
But someone in Old 012 someone did just that.
Had the AAA come out (any vehicle any time rule).
The tow driver even got a tip.
Can’t remember if it was a flat or dead battery.
When your in a hurry, road service is quicker than R-Service.

Back in the day a smart copper made friends with the R-Man and the Garage.
Yes, they’d change a tire - mostly because there was never a jack in the trunk.

Cheers to the R-Man of yesteryear.
