Once Mendoza/Prickwinkle win in February that’s the final nail. Look for mileage tax, raise in property taxes based on Chicago federal reserve suggestion, and rise in income taxes to offset Trump tax cuts.
Look for Harvey/Evanston to get bailed out all while more people leave. Illinois is done.

I retired and live in dupage, when I went to the polls- on the ballot was some bullshit about adding an additional 1% property of your homes value to pay for pensions. If that shit passes legislation.. good luck paying your mortgage and having a nutritious meal

It's been doomed for a long time but now it's under a DNR order (medical terminology). The voters are to blame. Listen to them talk: "I don't know who the canidates are. My precinct captain always tells me who to vote for. I use Trib's guide. I ask google. My alderman, state rep., congressman, etc. sends out a mailing. I don't know anything about the judges but if I like their name I vote yes. I asked the guy next door he usually knows. It's easy to vote they just hand you a card and it has all the names on it." So there you have it the sheep (voters) being led to the slaughter (into the arms of the Democrat precinct workers who hand out the palm cards.) I have observed this for decades. My poll, in Jefferson Park had a ton of candidate signs in front of it which stay there for days or weeks until the kids take them or the wind blows them away, and there five guys standing in front of the door approaching every voter. They looked like wise guys from Goodfellas. And of course the Democrat palm cards were in the voting booths. I took the one from my booth to the election judges and pointed it out. Their response was that someone must have just left it there. The same judges are there just about every election. Sometimes they are the Republican sometimes they are the Democrat. The well oiled machine marches on and the downward spiral continues you cannot stop it.
Local 597 pipefitters at tonights meeting were elated over Rauner's loss and pledged full support to JB our man.

Probably heading to the southwest where the blue wave amounted to a ripple in the pond. MY property tax has risen to a level I never thought I would see. Wasn’t there a referendum on the ballot that passed saying that money would be used for the schools. More money for a failing school system that already takes 53% of our property taxes, has declining enrollment and terrible student test scores

- personal income tax rate goes to at least 10% over several years
- state sales tax rate goes up by 2 or 3 points
- local government worker unions get their gold plated pension plans enhanced so property taxes will skyrocket to pay for them. some localities are already paying well over half their revenues to pension plans and still falling behind.

I guess I don't get my neighbors voting the way they did - they must just all believe what they see on the TV news (Orange Man - bad). Just a little research on any of these clowns that won, or on how Illinois got so screwed would have had them lining up to vote for a change.
Either that or is it just that I am one of the last persons in Illinois that isn't in a public union feeding at the Illinois taxpayer trough and paying it back by voting as they are told?

- personal income tax rate goes to at least 10% over several years
- state sales tax rate goes up by 2 or 3 points
- local government worker unions get their gold plated pension plans enhanced so property taxes will skyrocket to pay for them. some localities are already paying well over half their revenues to pension plans and still falling behind.

On the plus-plus side, my inability to afford property here means that when the state does start going down the drain I can be out fast. The Dakotas sound nice, or maybe Idaho. Somewhere cold and sparsely populated, where assholes and urban lemmings will leave me alone.
The Honorable Matthew Coughlan - Targeted specifically by Preckwinkle because he wouldn't knuckle under to her directives regarding her interpretation of Cook County "Criminal Justice" was the ONLY judge who did not receive the required 60% yes votes to retain his position. Think about that. Every other of these useless political hacks was retained. There were signs in front of my polling place that said "Vote Yes on Judicial Retentions". WTF? Does anyone know if there is no vote registered, does that count as a "Yes" vote. If so, we need to change that. Most people just skip the judges portion of the ballot.

Wasn’t there a referendum on the ballot that passed saying that money would be used for the schools. More money for a failing school system that already takes 53% of our property taxes, has declining enrollment and terrible student test scores

If you don't like the way Illinois is headed then you better move. Rumor has it that as soon as Pritzker is sworn in he will issue a decree closing the boarders.
