Looking like another great job there by Rahm - a deal maker to end all deal makers:
- Amazon has held advanced discussions about the possibility of opening its highly sought-after second headquarters in the Crystal City area of Arlington, Virginia, including how quickly it would move employees there, which buildings it would occupy and how an announcement about the move would be made to the public, according to people close to the process.
The discussions were more detailed than those the company has had regarding other locations in northern Virginia and some other cities nationally, adding to speculation that the site in Arlington County is a front-runner to land the online retail giant's second North American headquarters and its 50,000 jobs.
The company is so close to making its choice that Crystal City's top real estate developer, JBG Smith, has pulled some of its buildings off the leasing market and officials in the area have discussed how to make an announcement to the public this month, following the midterm elections, according to public and private-sector officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because Amazon has asked that the selection process remain confidential. The company may be having similar discussions with other finalists.

With Rahm leaving, winning this was not a possibility. Put yourself in Amazon’s shoes. Would you consider setting up shop in a city like Chicago? Everything going off the rails? Prickwrinckle running the show? Chicago is done. I plan on listing my home for sale before the reality of a Prickwrinckle administration takes hold. More crime, more graft, and more taxes ahead ladies and gentlemen.
9.5 got the advance word through the democratic party link to Bezos. That is when 9.5 weighed his options, or lack thereof, and decided to announce his plan to pull the pin.

Sure, it is their facility but they would have to run it with the agreement of the before mentioned, Why would anyone relocate or operate a warehouse/distribution facility in Chicago?

Amazon hires scumbags, felons, and those required by their diversion program to have a job and attend NA /AA meetings in lieu of serving a sentence and in some cases to avoid yet another conviction on their records. 50,000 jobs eh? Yeah right. 8 of those people would be the hipsters you’re afraid of. The rest would be breaking into your car at night to steal your loose change to support their heroin habit. The Amazon distribution centers are like hubs for drug sales - pills, weed, heroin, coke: you name it. If you ever want your kids exposed to drug dealers and the criminal element, tell them to get a job at Amazon.
Chicago isn’t losing anything by not having Amazon here, trust me. And you should also know that the LINK / SNAP /WIC / SSI expert abusers in this city would have no interest in “all the jobs Amazon would provide for Chicago.” Why would they work when they can keep getting it for free? The only time these menial, non-career track, trained monkey employers benefit a city’s despondent unemployed class is when welfare abuses are eliminated and drug testing is mandated.
Rahm gave Bezos the whole house to get their headquarters. No taxes for like 10 years, the city would redevelop the whole area at the cost of taxpayers, etc. Still couldn't close the deal. Amazon probably felt this city is such a shithole with it's far left leadership (although Bezo's is also far left), they don't want to actually have a business in that type of environment. The possibility that Prickwinkle might become our next mayor was also a factor. That thought alone makes me want to vomit. Crime is out of control and the police aren't allowed to do almost anything. When I retire in a few years, I'll be outta here in a heartbeat!

It is the same look my mother-in-law had on her face when her daughter said she was going to marry me! After 5 days in the ICU, she made a full recovery. She still hated me, but health-wise, she was just fine.
It is a split decision for the Amazon HQ2!
The 50/50 winners are Crystal City in Arlington, VA and Queens, NYC!
